**I received this book for an honest review**
Plot/Story:
The story was intriguing. I was interested from the first chapter and I had high hopes for this story. But things just went downhill from there. The story moved too slow and half the time I was thinking “just get to the point already.”
Ellie is a siren who can’t touch people. They attack her when they touch her. But, her father and aunt can touch her but she doesn’t even think about that until her father touches her hand. So is the power only in her hands?
Characters:
I can see where the author tried to make Ellie a strong female, but the effort was wasted. She was more whiney than anything. She is shy and quiet and evidently everyone in the school hates her except her two best friends. There is one reference to why the kids at school don’t like her, but it’s completely ridiculous. Ellie is a siren and when people touch her they tend to go a little crazy and attack her. One of the students, a guy who was asking her out, touched her and (from what I understand) tried to rape her. From that point on most of the kids at school thought she was weird and didn’t want to have anything to do with her. Where does this make sense to anyone? That is making a victim of the criminal. You are basically saying that anyone who is raped is a freak because…they should be able to control the actions of others? No one knows what Ellie is or that things happen when you touch her.
Romance/Kills:
There is no romance in this story at all. There is one major death that occurs, but it honestly has nothing to do with the story and could have been left out, unless it has something to do with the second book.
Writing:
The writing was so juvenile. At some points through the story I found myself wondering if it had been written in another language and translated into English. There are so many words missing and letters. There are “the”s where there should be “they”s and so many other issues. It makes me wonder if the author wrote the first draft and published it as soon as he typed the last word.
Beginning:
As I stated before, the first chapter had me intrigued. I was excited, thinking I was going to read a great story.
Ending:
The most horrible ending I have ever seen in a book. I have always been told that a story should have a beginning, middle, and end. And yes, this does include stories that are a part of a series. I have read so many series books, and each book in the series could almost be a stand alone novel. I felt like this book ended in the middle of the story. And I still have no idea what is going on.
Cover Art:
The cover is about the only good thing about this book. It’s beautiful and if I saw this on a bookshelf at the bookstore I would pick it up in a heartbeat. Sadly, that would have been a huge waste of my money.
Blurb:
The blurb basically tells the story. Honestly, that is all you need to read and the story is done. Ellie does not sense anything before she meets what is watching her. And the woman is not watching Ellie from afar…she is right there and tells Ellie she is there.
Other Stuff
Opening Line: I was dragged down into the dark. My mind was blurry, darkened figures roamed around me with talon like claws.
Highlights: The cover art was beautiful
Lowlights: The writing
Final Thoughts: I would not suggest this book to anyone.

This was an interesting read. The main character finds out that she is a siren. I didn't like how she was forced to leave her father. Especially because he was the only family she had left. Due to the fact that she didn't edit this book I'm not sure if I would like to continue. I would hate to pay for a book with many mistakes.

This book was recommended by a friend of mine and I thought it was going to be awful but as I kept reading it got better and better the plot was really good and I love Ellie I could really relate to her. I really enjoyed this book and hope to read the next one soon only fault with it is that there wasn't more back story but other then that I really enjoyed it. Would highly recommend it!!!

I bought the Series right out, it instantly grabbed me from the get-go.
II felt I was Ellie. Well I am Ellie but I mean Ellie from the Siren Series lol
I loved how clear and descriptive L.A. is with his work. His perspective in a female mind.
I felt like I was back in high school again. Then everything changed. Kept me wanting more. Now to move onto the next one :D

Teenage drama
This story was repetitive and a bit all over the place. For the most part it trudged on not going anywhere and then when the story moved forward it was the end. I didn't like the writing style it came across adolescent but maybe that was the authors plan due to the main character being a teenage girl. Where this story is lacking is giving the main character substance, she needed to feel not just say things. Her confusion, the fact she just jumped into practicing her skills without understanding them.
It needed more substance in descriptions, the feeling upon the skin, the terror etc. Her two friends were nondescript and the beautiful protector who and what was she.
The storyline is very simple and I didn't mind the supernatural element.
I think this is aimed at a younger audience, but for me, I like my characters to have an emotional connection and sadly this was lacking. With a bit more time this could be so promising as the foundations are there.
I probably will stop here because if she eats pasta and goes to bed early again I will probably do the same.

Boring
I didn't care for this book at all. It was very slow and boring. Im not a Twitter or an English major but there were a lot of grammatical errors and added words. I'd about the rest of you but things like that mess up ur reading and imagery.

Snore
Interesting concept but please skip this book. The real act doesn't start until chapter 14 or 15. There's only 18 chapters in the book! I have hopes that the rest of the series is more eventful.

Interesting story
Young girl realizes she has powers. Lots of things happen to her, at school and at home. It would have been better, if not so many errors in spelling, punctuation and tenses. On the preview of book 2, it repeats whole pages that had just been read.

I really enjoyed this book and Loved all the characters in the book. The writing really flowed. Cannot wait for the next one!!!
