Have we met? No? Well it's time to end that tragedy.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster with a lot of ups and downs. Dorie and Kaisen are a pretty unlikely couple and their course is definitely not smooth sailing. The book held my attention from the start and it was hard to put down. I thought the development of the characters and their relationship was well written. Kaisen’s on and off fluctuations were a bit annoying but also an important part of the process to become the man he was meant to be. And I absolutely loved Rick the cat! I received an advance review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
I’ve enjoyed several books by this author, but the last couple of books I’ve read have been disappointing. This plot was ridiculous. No one would have their male best friend taste cakes for them. And no best man would take 3 weeks off for wedding preparations in a small town. I was confused as to why they would have the wedding in the small town where the sister lived? But then the best man was familiar with the town as he recognized Dorie’s bakery replaced a store he remembered? And it’s hard to believe an attorney would also be a “ free spirit”. The story was overall disjointed.
Dorie Blake was on her way to work at her bakery at about 4:30 a.m., and it was not light yet. In Cape May, at that hour, she was usually about the only one up. Baking was her therapy. It was the one thing she could control and the one thing that always made sense, no matter how crazy the rest of the world around her got. Then she thought about how Carington and Associates had circled the waterfront strip for months. They had been trying to buy out every business in their path to make room for their hideous luxury condos.
She couldn’t let it happen, she had Toby her apprentice, and Mrs. Watts and her granddaughter, who lived in the apartment above the bakery, to think of because they are like family. Dorie was all up in her head. It was during her four-mile walk that she had the time to think and sort out anything on her mind alone. That’s why she barely saw the dark shadow coming at her, until she was trying to dodge out of its way. But he clipped me hard, sending me sprawling into a bush. She let out a yelp, more out of surprise than pain, and struggled to untangle herself from the branches that clawed and snagged at her sweater and leggings.
Dorie’s first thought was that whatever he was running from was going to get her if she didn’t get up. Images of the homicidal cake from the nightmare she’d awoken from that morning flashed in her mind. Maybe she hadn’t woken up at all Her being mowed down by a gorgeous man was not on her bingo card. “Are you okay?” His voice was deep, though it didn’t sound particularly concerned. “Miss?” His eyes are what caught me off guard—piercing, intense, and currently fixed on her with a look that was equal parts annoyance and amusement.
“Do you always run through parks like a maniac at four thirty in the morning?” She snapped as he took her hand and pulled her up. His grip was firm, oversized, and warm. “Do you always walk through parks without watching where you’re going?” Who did he think he was? “You’re the one who ran into me,” I pointed out. “And you’re the one who didn’t move,” he shot back, his tone infuriatingly calm. “Maybe you should pay more attention to your surroundings. You were on the running path. I was running. You were strolling. There are signs everywhere.”
Bingo! (Welcome to their meet-cute.) “Maybe you should learn some manners,” she snapped. “A simple ‘I’m sorry’ would’ve sufficed. That’s what most people do when they run over someone.” His smirk deepened, and his arched eyebrow settled back into place, which made her feel like he wasn’t taking her seriously at all. What a turd. An annoyingly good-looking and abrasive turd. “I’ll keep that in mind,” he said, though his tone suggested he had no intention of doing so. “Next time, watch where you’re going.”
Not the best way to start her morning with a rich entitled pompous a$$ being condescending. While telling her it's her fault for being on the running path wearing all black. The same running path that she has walked on for years. Where she had never encountered another soul until that day. Then her sister Eliza Blake calls the one all the hoopla is for in the wedding prep for the groom's cake and the wedding cake. Her twin sister could be critical at times. Not to mention, her sisters’ mentioned that Cullen’s been talking nonstop about the groom’s cake.
And that he’s convinced she’s going to outdo herself. But no pressure. “Oh, and speaking of the cake,” Eliza said, her tone shifting slightly. “K is in town. He’s going to stop by the bakery today to help you with the flavors for Cullen’s cake.” “K?” I repeated. “Yeah, you know, Kaisen Seely,” Eliza said, as if it were painfully obvious. “He’s Cullen’s best man, remember? He’s got a very sophisticated palate, and Cullen Harper trusts him to pick something amazing.” Sophisticated palate? I rolled my eyes so hard I thought she might hear it through the phone.
“Fine. Okay. I’ll be here all morning. I’ll make sure everything’s ready for your culinary expert.” When he enters the bakery it is in chaos. The bakery had a line of people at the counter, chatting and laughing as they waited for their turn. A young man worked behind the counter, moving with the kind of frantic energy that came with being in the weeds. He handed out cookies and pastries like his life depended on it. Kaisen couldn’t help but be impressed by his efficiency. He was not interested in dealing with a feeding frenzy.
Not when he was there to get a couple of bites of cake and that was that. There was only one problem. He didn’t see Eliza’s sister. Not that he knew who she was, but he knew they were twins, so he was looking for an Eliza clone. A door at the back of the shop. It swung open, and a woman stepped out, carrying a tray of pastries. His breath caught in his throat. She was short, with curves that could make a grown man weep. Her hair was pulled back into a messy bun, a few curls escaping to frame her face.
Dorie’s big blue eyes were focused on the tray in her hands, but when she looked up and met his gaze, he felt like he’d been punched in the gut. She was stunning. Absolutely stunning. And then she glared at him. The look was a surprise for a brief second until it all came rushing back. The park. The run. The bush. This was the woman he’d knocked over that morning. The one who’d told me off with a fire in her eyes that had left him equal parts annoyed and intrigued. This was Dorie Eliza’s sister? Eliza was beautiful, someone you might see on a billboard or runway.
But this woman was petite. Most designers overlooked women like this. Not me. I snapped myself back to reality. No ogling the cake maker. “Excuse me,” I said. I tried to cut in line, eager to get this over with, but I was immediately met with protests from the other customers. “Hey, buddy, wait your turn!” one guy barked. “Back of the line.” “No cuts.” Welcome to their meet-cute 2.0. Such a good book. Her sister is an airhead who took advantage of Dorie her whole life and then sat and allowed her friends to mock her sister after all she has done for her their whole life.
Resident of Cape May, Dorie Blake loves her bakery and considers Carington and Associates her enemy for wanting to buy hers and surrounding businesses to make way for luxury condos. On her way to work early one day, she collides with a runner, and they both declare the other to be the offender. As she is preparing to open the door of her shop, her engaged twin sister Eliza calls and reminds her that Kaisen Seely, the best man and current billionaire, is going to taste test the best man cake later on. As fate would have it, in walks K, the obnoxious best man who ran her over earlier, and bam, let the hostilities begin.
And as the saying goes, there is a short distance between love and hate, but in this instance it’s between attraction and distraction. The electricity between them is so palpable that they can no longer live in limbo, so they give in to each other, but the bliss is short-lived when Dorie finds out that Kaisen does not believe in love or commitment and that he is CEO of Carington and Associates, the vultures trying to steal her bakery.
Another outstanding exciting, unputdownable romance by Weston Parker! This is one of the sweetest stories I’ve ever read, and I was totally wishing for Kaisen and Dorie to find their HEA, but both are vulnerable and have baggage to handle before they can begin a life together. Don’t miss this gem, so strap on your seat belt for an exciting ride!
I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily offer my honest opinion.
The baker and the billionaire Who doesn’t love a story about an extremely rich, good looking man with commitment issues falling for a gorgeous, hard working small town baker. Dorie and Kaisen’s first meeting was an absolute disaster and set them off on a rocky path, with them barely being able to stand each other. For the sake of Dorie’s twin sister and Kaisen’s best friend getting married the two of them had no choice but to get along. Especially when some of the wedding preparations were placed on their shoulders and they’re both needed for the tasks. There’s bickering, banter, and fun times (when they’ve stopped being angry with each other) plus a scorchingly hot attraction to each other that is getting harder to suppress. Dorie is a gorgeous single woman that struggles and works hard for everything she has, she’s always putting others first before her needs. Kaisen is a rich playboy and a ruthless businessman who’s generous with his wealth but never believes that he will find love and settle down. However Dorie rocks his world and makes him think about having more. But nothing goes smoothly and they are eventually both hurt. Such a great read which kept me engaged and not wanting to stop reading. I loved all the characters and the storyline which was emotional at times and also had some steamy scenes.
Kaisen is a billionaire and CEO of real-estate company Carington and Associates who just so happens to be trying to buy up several businesses so they can build fancy condos on the land where they are located. Dorie owns a bakery and her business just happens to be one of the ones that the real-estate company is trying to buy. Dorie and Kaisen meet when he literally runs over her on his morning jog. They both say the other is to blame and you can tell these two would never get along. As fate would have it, they are forced to work side by side planning a wedding. Her twin sister is getting married to his best friend and he is the best man. They have to spend lots of time together and at first, they really get on each other’s nerves but slowly that fades and they begin to get to know one another and feelings start to develop. What will happen when she finds out Kaisen is the one trying to buy her bakery? Weston out done himself with this book. I absolutely loved it! It has everything you want in a book banter, drama, lots of laughs and plenty of steam. This is one book that you won’t be able to put down. Great job Weston. I received an arc copy of this book and I am freely leaving my honest review.
Kaisen and Dorie met when tasked with organising Dorie’s twin sister’s wedding to Kaisen’s best friend. Dorie was the responsible twin whereas her sister Eliza was the flighty one, despite her being a solicitor. I truly didn’t like Eliza’s character at the outset, she came across as very selfish even to the extent of not seeing how patronising her own friends were being to Dorie. Dorie had taken second place to Eliza throughout the years from college days which her parents didn’t seem to be held to account for. Dorie however had a strong work ethic and was running her own bakery business despite the long hours leaving her little time for anything else. When Kaisen appeared on the scene he had his own demons to overcome from a troubled childhood after losing his mother at a young age. I loved the inclusion of Rick in the story, he added a lightheartedness to events which brought a smile to my face. It made up for the tears when Kaisen had his doubts. A great story which I definitely recommend. The extended epilogue just rounded off the story with a beautiful HEA.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Dorie and Kaisen. Dorie's twin sister is getting married and since Dorie owns a bakery, she is going to make the wedding cake. Only more of the wedding planning falls on Dorie too. Kaisen is the best man and a billionaire. He decides to rent a mansion for the month before the wedding so he will be close to help with any plans that need finishing. Dorie wants Kaisen to chose the cake flavor but he is not making things easier. The more stuff that falls on Dorie to plan, Kaisen wants to help when he sees how stressed Dorie is. Kaisen is intrigued with Dorie and soon they are spending more and more time together. i liked Kaisen and Dorie together, i also loved her cat. Kaisen was used to women who wanted his money, but Dorie was different. He saw how hard she worked and how her sister's friends treated her. I think Dorie was a strong woman who worked hard to make her business a success. This was another great one from Weston.
I loved this sweet story set in beautiful Cape May, New Jersey. Dorie's twin sister is getting married, and she is the maid of honor, and she is making the wedding cake. That in itself is a lot on her plate. Then she meets the best man of her sister's husband to be, and fireworks go off, but not the good kind. Neither of them liked the other, and it was hard to work together.
Kaisen Seely is the best man. He's gorgeous and a thorn in Dorie's side. He has a playboy reputation a mile long, and Dorie doesn't trust him.
Things heat up between the two as they put their heads together and decide to work together, although Kaisen doesn't get all the wedding hype or the true love thing.
Of course, the wedding and their love for Dorie's sister and fiance bring them closer, but true love isn't always smooth like the fairytale.
I liked Dorie and Kaisen together, even though I was never sure how to pronounce his weird name. Lol
Oh the sexual magnetism between them is on fire. 100% endorse this book. Dorie and Kaisen run into each other literally the first time they meet. Dorie's first impression is he's cocky and arrogant. She owns a bakery and he's a billionaire. Her twin sister Eliza is getting married to Kiasen's best friend, Cullen. Kiasen is best man and Dorie, is maid of honor and lots of duties thrown their way. He has a hard time staying away from her. They start getting closer and eventually he decides he wants them to be together, she wants it kept under wraps. He lets his Dad get under his skin and he breaks it off, but he's so miserable he has to fix it. Thank you Weston, they were touch and go for a few times, but a spectacular romance! Magical HEA!

If you love wedding season HEA's, then this book needs to be at the top of your spring reading list! This is a great story about Kaisen & Dorie. He is a billionaire, who doesn't believe in love or marriage thanks to his parent's relationship, yet he's stuck as the best man for his best friend's wedding. Dorie is the twin sister of the bride, an extremely hard worker, who does whatever it takes to make her sister happy, including planning the wedding of her sister's dreams. Dorie owns a bakery, and doesn't fit in a rich man's world, but Kaisen is struck by her work ethic and beauty. This is a truly lovely story, full of real problems and tough spots. I especially love that Weston Parker gives us not only a happy ending, but an epilogue (or two) to give us a peek into this couple's lives after they fall in love!
I pretty much fell for Dorrie from the moment the book opened. Kaisen, on the other hand, was not my favorite character at the start of the book. Surly and aloof, I wasn’t sure that he was going to be the right fit for our independent sweetheart of a baker. But then we got to know them both better and got to see them interacting more. We saw how much of herself Dorie had sacrificed for others, and then we got to see the caretaker beneath Kaisen’s gruff exterior. But, both of them have their insecurities, and those nearly destroy the special something they’re building. I was so glad to see them get out of their own ways to finally get it right together. I had so much fun with these two and the people they considered their family that I almost wish the book had been even longer. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
Dorie owns a bakery, she loves her job, but works hard for what she has, she will put others before herself. Kaisen is a billionaire ceo of Carington and associates real-estate, and is trying to by multiple businesses, Dories bakery is one of them. When they have their 1st meeting it is running into eachother, litteraly, bith blaming the other for being at fault. So when her sister calls her to remind her that the best man for her wedding is coming in for taste tests, and then he walks in...well...the rollercoaster ride begins. They have to work together for the upcoming wedding.... This is a great book, kept me engaged throughout, and watching these two throughout is awesome. Like I said rollercoaster ride!! You can never go wrong with a book from Weston Parker and this is no exception. I received an ARC copy from the author and freely give my review
When Kaisen, the best man at her sister’s wedding, arrives at Dorie’s bakery to sample the wedding cake she is not happy to fund out that he is the same man she had an altercation with that morning. Things aren’t going to get any easier when they find themselves having to work together on wedding arrangements.
When Kaisen finds out that he and Dorie will be working together on some wedding arrangements f!or his best friend he knows that it will be quite the challenge as not only do they need to overcome their first meeting but there is also the fact that his company wants the lands where here bakery is located. Let the complications begin!
Humorous banter, great chemistry and an enchanting romance as two people find themselves on different sides except when it comes to their feelings for each other.
I actually really liked the two main characters so no gripes there. My issues were the plot and Dorie's family. The plot didn't make much sense from beginning to end. If the wedding couple are this wealthy, why aren't they getting married in a big city or fancy destination? How is the best man doing this when a wedding planner should be? And all last minute too. Why does the couple have so little time to make big decisions like cake flavor? It may as well not even be their wedding by the end because they chose zero things. Dorie's sister was just shy of awful in her treatment of her twin. Yet there is no redemption, apology or ever a realization of how selfish and self-centered she was in her behavior toward Dorie. I was uncomfortable wondering if Dorie is going to be a doormat for her twin the rest of their lives.
Dorie owns a bakery in Cape May. Kaisen deals in real estate, but owns many companies that deal in different ventures and is from New York. She is the maid of honor for her sister and Kaisen is the best man for his best man. They dislike each other from the beginning, although there is definitely an attraction between them. During the month of Kaisen being in Cape May for wedding planning, Dorie and him seem to find an understanding between them which comes to much more. Their road is a rocky one, although it’s full of heat and is intense. Neither of them thinks they’re good enough for the other. Can they get past all that? Dorie and Kaisen have hurdles to get over. I was a wonderful read to see if they could do it!
Well where do I start. Firstly I loved the characters Kaisen and Dorie. Dorie owns and runs her own bakery. Kaiser is a billionaire playboy. Gets everything he wants with his charm. They are polar opposites but have to work together to help Eliza (Dories twin sister) and Cullen ( Kaisens best mate) things get off to a rockery start. On her walk to her bakery Kaisen comes out of nowhere and runs right into her. Knocking her to the ground. Then Eliza and Cullen ask then both to help with organising so much of the wedding. They manage to get along and somewhere along the line things change. You will have to read what happens as I don't want to give away too many spoilers. You won't be disappointed. Thanks again Weston.

Dorie Blake loves her bakery and is determined to protect it from Carington and Associates, a company planning to transform her neighborhood into upscale condos. Her day takes an unexpected turn when she bumps into Kaisen Seely, the best man at her sister’s wedding—and the billionaire behind the company threatening her business. The chemistry between them is undeniable, but Dorie soon learns that Kaisen is not only emotionally distant but also the CEO of Carington.
Weston Parker delivers a sizzling, emotional romance filled with tension and heart. Dorie and Kaisen’s path to a happy ending is rocky, as they both have pasts to confront before they can move forward. A must-read for fans of irresistible romance!
I received an ARC of this book and am sharing my honest opinion.
Oh, my, what a GREAT book!!!! Kaisen is a billionaire and Dorie is a small town baker struggling to make ends meet. He is the best man for Dorie's twin sister's fiance. Dorie is hardworking and dedicated where her twin, Eliza is the one that had everything handed to her. They all have issues from the past which causes some ups and downs but one thing is certain and that is the chemistry between Kaisen and Dorie. It is off the charts and this story will give you all the good feelings you always get from Wes's books. This is a MUST read and I promise you will not be disappointed! Steamy times 20!
I absolutely loved this book, and it will definitely have you enthralled from the beginning until the end. It's two people who definitely deserve love, but can he move on from his trauma growing up to let himself fall in love? Can Dorie let her guard down and let someone care for her? This book truly was such a wonderful story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.kaison is a billionaire who has his hands in several businesses, but when he is the best man for his best friends wedding and has to work with the maid of honor Dorie, but when sparks fly between them will it fizzle out when she learns something about him?
When Dorie’s twin plans to get married, she makes it her mission to deliver the wedding of Eliza’s dreams. Unfortunately, that comes with working closely with the best man. Kaisen literally crashed into her life on a running trail the morning they were supposed to meet for a cake tasting.
While the two clashed initially, the chemistry was undeniable and their road together mixed with fear, humor and the kind of gifts only a billionaire would think are normal. The result was another great story by Weston Parker, who masterfully brings together the sweet and heat for a thoroughly enjoyable story.
Dorie and Kaisen will definitely take you on an emotional roller coaster. Their on and off relationship will have your head spinning at times, not to mention his fear of commitment. Weston has another winner here that will grab your attention right at the beginning. The characters are well developed and complex. The story line has enough surprises and twists to keep you guessing. No cliffhanger and an HEA. A good read that you will enjoy. I read a free arc via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
Well written opposites attract romance with strong characters in Kaisen and Dorie. The author does a great job developing their story and painting his scenes perfectly. He brings them together while working on a wedding and takes you into their lives with attraction and chemistry and kept me turning the pages with the insecurities and road blocks along the way. He brings the heat and all the feels , delivering a terrific story. Loved and Recommend this book.

Work along side each other on their duties for the wedding they grew closer to each other. But nothing goes smoothly between them. What will happen with them will they get a happy ending. This a wonderful must read story that will keep you glued to the pages until the end. Ten stars.
Terrific read. This story star Kaisen and Dorie. Dorie is has a twin, she’s a baker in a small town. Kaisen is a big time New Yorker who is giving an interview as the most eligible bachelor who has no desire to change. During his morning run, he runs into Dorie on her way to work. He was smitten immediately. The story has pushed and pull, relationships and breakups. It’s good. The bigger they think they are, the harder they fall.
Dorie owns a bakery that is being hassled by a big developer. Shes struggling with the bakery and financially. She has always taken care of her twin sister Eliza. Eliza is getting married to Cullen and while Dorie will be the maid of honor she’s also baking the wedding cake. Eliza’s fiance, Cullen, has his best man Kaisen help Dorie with wedding preparations. As these two spend more time together feeling develop. There’s the usual twist and turns with a few surprises. A fun read with a HEA.
Dorie and Kaisen are working together to help plan a wedding for Doris’s twin sister and Kaiden’s best friend. Their initial meeting got them off on the wrong foot. Also their extreme differences about love and weddings are polar opposites. Watching how their opinions change makes this a captivating read. The way each of them have history with the happy couple is touching. This book is a must read, enjoy.
This Bookfunnel ARC review contains my thoughts and feelings about this book.
Romantic and heartwarming! A wonderful story of two people from different worlds meeting, and finding they were perfect for each other! Dorie was a baker, owned her own bakery and was helping her sister plan her wedding. Kaiser was a billionaire, the best man and best friend of her soon-to-be brother-in-law. Kaiser and Dorie spent a lot of time together helping with the wedding, and they ended up really getting close. Just how many weddings are there going to be? Read to find out. Great read!
