Faith thinks this day can’t be any different from the last one or the next. She’s married to Mac, the man she loves, is teaching her teenage son, Liam, to drive, and is pregnant with her second child. So Christmas shopping should just be a normal activity.
But when Liam accidentally rear ends the car in front of him on their way home during rush hour, their life seems to spin out of control. He could have hit anyone. But he hit Emily.
Suddenly, Faith’s average life is thrown under a blanket of terror and everything changes in an instant. Her husband is threatened, her son is withdrawing, and the baby she’s been carrying is in danger. She doesn’t know if she can go on when her reason for living is taken from her, but she has to. She has to choose to live. For her son. For her husband. For herself.

Despite the length I found that I enjoyed this book. The characters on one hand were quite credible, whereas others in the plot were a bit larger than life, but doesn't that also mimic modern society? I enjoyed the well thought out twists, but the ending seems to be only designed to tempt the reader onto the next book. Then again this is more like a prequel so I shouldn't be too surprised. Everything starts as a routine day, and steadily gets worse. A trip to the store, ends up with a traffic accident. Nothing major, just a rear end shunt, and from there things just escalate out of all proportion. Some might say that it isn't true to life, but these things can and do happen. As I said at the beginning it is a short novella, and I managed to read it in one sitting. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I wasn't disappointed either.
I gave this a high 2 stars because I was being generous. The story jumped too fast for lack of detail and character. I couldn't even identify with any of the people in the story. Not sure I could recommend this story to anyone. It was a complete waste of my time.
An emotional tale. Perhaps a little predictable and overly-dramatic for my taste. I wasn't moved sufficiently by this opening story to be drawn into purchasing the other books in the series.
Lots of twists , throws you off track not a light weight book bit heartbreak and nasty bits mixed in to bit good read.hopefully read the other 2 books to see how Faye's and Liam's life's map out after their tragic ordeal
Err.. i'm not sure what to say. I mean it was kinda interesting but confusing. I'm not exactly sure what happened in this short story. Not sure I'll read the others.
I actually really liked this book, it was a quick read and had a good plot. It did fizzle out a little bit towards the end, but it was still good enough to rate 4 stars in my opinion.
How a simple fender bender can cause a chain reaction, and change peoples lives. You exchange insurance info., and it is over. Not in this case. What happened to this family, is stuff of nightmares.
