Charles Bennett's classic telling of the traditional story about a young frog who wants to woo a mouse - but he and his bride to be fall afoul of a cat and a duck.
A classic picture book featuring a frog wooing a mouse. Strangely the Gutenberg ebook includes two versions of this story, one in verse and one in prose. Perhaps the author was experimenting. I preferred the prose version, but they were both rather lousy.
The story of a frog wooing a mouse is old, and by my research, it first appeared in the sixteenth century, and most possibly is a Scottish tale and originally known as ‘Frog Went A-Courtin’. The edition I found (1908) begins with a poem.
