They say all good things must come to an end...but will this hold true for Shikimi, as well? The half-demon priest was making such good progress, but a fun-filled day in the falling snow turns deadly as his demon half takes over. Will Grey finally win their bet?
The climax is upon the characters. The creature within Shikimi is gaining control. Can Taki do anything to stop it? Can Laz do anything to help? Wait, why is Grey even trying to help? The odd little family Shikimi formed is now in jeopardy, unless someone can stop the darkness inside the former priest.
The sweet moment at the beginning makes the dramatic changes in Shikimi all the more terrifying. The monster inside him is fleshed out a bit more along with Grey’s motivations for sticking around. It was a bit disappointing the way Shikimi turned on Taki after all the demonic foreplay of the creature hungering for Taki’s blood. It was also disappointing seeing Laz do so little. Grey remains quite intriguing, as sinister as ever, yet choosing to assist Taki. Plus the promise Taki made to him was quite intriguing as well. All in all, this was an exciting, attractive read which leaves me wanting to pick up the next book.
