If you child loves the shows like Dancing with the Stars, or So You Think you Can Dance, then you need to get them this book. Adelaide and her pillow dog Hernando love to dance, and they have great teachers. They take her pants spot at a TV dancing competition, to see who is the best. A great fun romp with a nice cadence and well working rhymes.

This book is about a little girl who's best friend is a dancing dog. Her parents also loved to dance, and they got chosen to be apart of a dancing competition. They all went, but her parents crashed into another couple, and couldn't complete the dance. Hernando, and Adelaide jumped in, and stole the crowd's attention! They ended up winning the dancing competition, and continued being the best of friends.
This book is insanely adorable! It has a great message about love friendship, and helpfulness. I would probably read this to a younger group of students, and have them talk about fun experiences they have had with their friends. I could also have them do a project asking the question "What if Hernando Fandango was your best friend?" What special activity would you to do together? We could also talk about future endeavors. Things they would like to learn, and become super talented at. This book is going to be so much fun!

One of my wife's favorite books as a kid, "Hernando Fandango: The Great Dancing Dog" is full of joy about a girl's friendship and partnership with her dog. Adelaide's parents are about to compete in an important, great dance competition but disaster strikes and Adelaide has to do something. She is shy but her companion Hernando is up to the task. They strive to pursue their dreams by going to the dance. Very fun illustration and a wonderful story.
