The long-promised Jamieson-Armstrong family camping trip takes a pause with news of murder at the local fish farm, where the vacationing families recently visited. Even worse, it looks like their campsite neighbor's brother-in-law, Adam, is the prime suspect in the fish farm Manager's murder.
Ignoring protests from family, Christy and Sledge, along with Stormy the cat, start asking questions at the mayor's office and quickly learn of political opposition to the fish farm, forming a list of distinguished suspects.
But when a second murder occurs, Adam is further implicated. Believing something is very fishy at the farm, Sledge, Christy, and Stormy continue their probe. But someone doesn't want the truth exposed. Now, the sleuthing team must solve the murder before they become next week's fish food.
Publisher The Nine Lives Cozy Mysteries, while containing some very mild profanity, will be enjoyed by listeners of clean and wholesome cozy mysteries. Cat lovers and those fond of all things feline, as well as fans of Amanda Lee, Denise Grover Swank, Rita Mae Brown's Sneaky Pie Brown Mysteries, and Shirley Rousseau Murphy's Joe Grey Mysteries will not want to miss this series.

The feline who inspired Stormy, the cat in the Nine Lives books, dominated her household for 20 loving years. During that time, he created a family pecking order that left Louise on top and her youngest child on the bottom (just below the guinea pig), regularly tried to eat all his sister’s food (he was a very large cat), and learned the joys of travel through a cross-continent road trip.
The Nine Lives Cozy Mystery series—as well as the single-title mystery A Recipe for Trouble—are all set in her hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia.
I have read all of the mysteries up to this point. They are well written and the plot well thought out and interesting. Her characters are well defined and likable. My only criticism is she doesn't promote animal sterilization as in spay and neutering. She talks about Stormy going off occasionally to mate, and in last book, the cat was mating with Sledges neighbours Siamese. She should be a responsible pet owner and encourage the readers too be also.
I prevailed with this series because of the genuinely likable heroine, and a desire to see her resolve her love life. However, I have been increasingly annoyed, not with her failure to resolve her love life, bit with two authorial failings. The first is an unfairness to reader of cozy mysteries - the murderer is not introduced (particularly in book 4) until way too late. Not fair. The second is a failure to competently edit the series. Grammar and style issues are rampant, and the misspellings in book 5 were the final straw for me. No more.
If I never read the words fish farm again, it will be to soon. I enjoyed the other books 110% . This book took me forever to finish. To much politics and business. I enjoyed Sledge being a bigger part but it needed more about the characters we know and love and less about fish.
Probably a 3.5 star review but I really like the characters. Frank always makes me laugh and the situations they get themselves in our fun. I’m glad that relationships between the characters are finally back on track. I’m really interested to see what adventures they’ll get into next. I wonder if we’ll see more of sledge? I suppose we’ll find out. I kind of liked him.
I really enjoyed this addition to the series! Great story line. Stormy/Frank the car is a delightful character. This is one of my favorite series. Can't wait for the next in the series to come out.
This book wasn't as intense as the previous ones in this series. It gives insight to what can be done in Canada for vacation. As usual the culprit wasn't instantly evident and the problem of getting him/her to admit the murders was a bit tricky.
I love all the characters and how she works them all together. They all contribute solving the mystery. The plot is easy but how they get the solution is always entertaining
I've read a few of the series before. An interesting idea, but I didn't much care for this particular one. I feel the end was too long in getting to the end. (I apologize. Sometimes the word I want hides from me, like a thought hiccup).
A good young adult book but falls short of adult literature. Editing needs work too. Having said that, I did read it through. The characters were varied and fun.
