Magiford Supernatural City #10-12

Magic on Main Street: The Complete Trilogy

Rate this book
By night, they fight in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse. By day, they are friendly next-door neighbors. Neither of them know that their alter egos are archenemies.

I’ve spent my life training in the family business of slaying vampires, but I’m tired of all the death. I want to prove we slayers can help society, not just break it.

I start my new life by joining the Magiford supernatural task force, which exists to protect humans and supernaturals from harmful magic.

There’s just one problem.

All of my teammates who work the night shift with me are scared of me since slayers are the assassins of the supernatural world. Worse yet, even though I’m doing my best at pretending to be a human during the day—a necessity as a lone slayer can quickly become a dead slayer—I’ve utterly failed to win over any of the humans in my apartment complex since I have the charisma of an overdue investigation report.

That changes when a handsome vampire moves in next door. Connor may not be willing to try any of my failed attempts at baking, but he’s charming and not afraid of me. Plus, he’s the first friend I’ve made who has the time to hang out with me after work.

Things are looking up, or they would be, except a mysterious and extremely powerful vampire has declared downtown his nightly hunting ground. I’m the only one on my team who can match him in a fight, something he finds endlessly entertaining. That isn’t a good sign for my general life expectancy.

My greatest goal might be to win over my squad, but if this vampire doesn’t back off I might not live long enough to achieve it.

With over 40,000 ratings on Amazon and Goodreads, and millions of pages read, this completed urban fantasy trilogy is packed with humor, magical fights, and a sweet, slow burn romance between a slayer who battles social anxiety and a vampire who is sick of his immortality.

My pen name is K. M. Shea, but my readers—I prefer to call them Champions—call me Kitty.

I love to write funny, clean stories with strong characters. Books like that are among my favorite to read so naturally I love writing stories like that as well. My philosophy is that life is tough, so books should be something that makes you relax and laugh!

enemies to lovers

Blood and Ruin are odd nicknames for our main characters but they definitely live up to them. Their eventual partnership has to deal with all kinds of magical creatures including a dragon, fae, vampires, werewolves, wizards and more. Their personal growth was fun to watch as were their many quirks.
I also love that you get their three book story in one book and how KM Shea sprinkles other Magiford characters in the story.

🦇The Lies of Vampires and Slayers—4.5 Stars🦇

I finally got to start this series!!!! My family and I waited until the whole trilogy was available to start because Kitty had some MEAN cliffhangers in her other Magiford books so we weren’t going to take any chances, lol. But now it’s here and I really liked it!

Jade is such a fun character and I love the insight into what it’s like to have social anxiety and her thought process when trying to talk to others—very eye opening! She’s also really good at being a supernatural “cop” in a sense, though I agree with her team that she needs to be more careful and have more self preservation, haha.

Considine is a jerk, plain and simple. He’s the first male lead in Magiford that I absolutely dislike, though I will admit he has promise to be less of a jerk by the end of the book, though Kitty will have to work hard to convince me that he and Jade are going to work as endgame because right now I’m not seeing it.

This is definitely more chill than the previous series as we’re separated from the whole Organization plot line (or are we…???), and I love how this is more of a supernatural crime/cop story with a group of truly wonderful and funny characters who I’m more then happy to get to know better, not to mention all the Drakes that appeared made me giddy with fangirl joy!

I super enjoyed this and am eager to see where this story goes!

🦇The Games of Enemies and Allies—4.5 Stars🦇

This was such a fun ride! It’s much lighter than the previous series in this universe but danger still comes calling and the final battle at the end really got my blood pumping from the sheer chaos! Things just keep heating up in this investigation and I’m still not sure if the wizard House causing problems was part of the overall plan or not, haha.

Jade has a self sacrificial complex a mile wide, so much so my mom actually compared her to one of my own characters who has the same problem of always putting themselves on the line for those they care for to the point of forgetting their own safety and lives matter too. I love that about Jade, but she also needs to be more careful, lol.

Considine I’m finally warming up to! He still had his jerk moments at the beginning but the more I learned about him and his view on vampires being immortal and what that truly means in the long run, the more I felt for him. And him battling feelings for Jade is hilarious, and I have no doubt that by the end Killian was rolling on the floor laughing with how things turned out. 😂

Jade’s teammates are so much fun and seeing cameos from the Drake vampires and even Hazel were such a treat though I do wish there were more of them, haha. I just want to see more of my precious babies!

Such a delight I’m having a BLAST with, and after that ending I’m soooo curious to see where things go and how they turn out from here!

🦇The Order of Blood and Ruin—5 Stars🦇

Such an amazing, fantastic, wonderful, swoony, action packed end to this trilogy! This is by far my favorite book in the series and I loved every second of it. 😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰

Jade is amazing, and Task Force became the chaos family I always knew they had in them, but the real surprise is that I went from disliking Considine in the first book (almost low key hating him, the jerk, lol) to loving him by the end of this book—Kitty rose to my challenge of making me like this vampire! I like how he was persistent in his pursuit of Jade but was also respectful of her boundaries and would back off if he made her uncomfortable without her asking which was really nice to see. Also these two are wonderful fighting partners along with being a cute couple which just makes the romance all the more sweet and appealing to me. 🥰🥰

I loved how everything was wrapped up and addressed with all the emotion, magical exploits, and wild action I could ever ask for! Though now I want a trilogy about an oracle because this book raised SO many questions about them that I need answers to!

I laughed out loud, swooned, was entirely stressed out, and overall just had the best time with this book and series. Even though I’m sad I’ll have to wait longer than usual for the next Magiford trilogy, that also just means I can just go back and reread all of the series all over again instead! Love this universe and I hope Kitty doesn’t stop writing them any time soon. ☺️

(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)

4.25*

Would be higher, but I didn't like

First time read the author's work?: No

Will you be reading more?: Yes -- I especially enjoy her books set in the Magiford world.

Would you recommend?: Yes

------------
How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author)
4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author).
3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series)
or
3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)

All of the above scores means I would recommend them!
-
2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.)
1* = Disliked

Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)

A fantastic reread

Having enjoyed the unfolding story as it was initially released, rereading it in an omnibus is just perfect. I will say that I enjoyed this series much more than the first time I read it. There are so many hilarious shenanigans that I somehow missed the first time. A fantastic read!

Fantastic

I love all the Magiford series. The concept , humor ,characters, world building, fight scenes , snarky repartee. I hope the author continues the series. There seems to be more stories waiting ; empty WizardHouse, magic vs wild , dragons, elves , winter fae, oracles. At least three more trilogies

awesome

I love this series! It’s just fun to see how Jade and Consadine figure out their relationship. They are such a great couple, a great partnership in so many ways.
