When Jacob Blackstone sees his former flame holding a baby with the Blackstone blond curls, the Southern millionaire knows the child is his. But why would down-on-her-luck bartender KC Gatlin keep Jacob's heir a secret? Now the bachelor who wanted a family on his own terms must rush to convince the fiercely protective beauty he's daddy material.
KC must tell Jacob the truth about why she kept his son from him or risk losing her beloved baby. When the gorgeous mill owner suggests a trial run at domesticity, she can't resist. But is true love part of this baby deal?
Dani Wade astonished her local librarians as a teenager when she carried home 10 books every week – and actually read them all. Now she writes her own characters who clamor for attention in the midst of the chaos that is her life. Residing in the southern U.S. with a husband, two kids, two dogs, and one grumpy cat, she stays busy until she can closet herself away with her characters once more.
I liked reading The Blackstone Heir by Dani Wade and it sure was enjoyable to see Jacob and KC come together once more ,this time forever. The best part of the story was that the story had a little bit of everything. Their love was not easy and they had to face some obstacles and clear a lot of things between them to move forward. Obstacles does not mean angst in this case and on a whole, it was a smooth story with some bumps on the way.
KC was an awesome mother and a great heroine because she was willing to stand up for her son and despite being down on her luck, she did not cower before the hero. Jacob was a likable hero and despite some of the faults he had, I loved him.The characters had an awesome chemistry and there was never a dull moment in their romance.
Overall, The Blackstone Heir by Dani Wade is for everyone who loves Harlequin Desire because it does not fail to deliver.< a href="http://harlequinjunkie.com/review-the... More
2.5 stars. Overall this story was ok and maybe I would have been more invested in the characters if I had read the first in the series, but I felt like the characters couldn't figure out what they wanted. Jacob went back and forth between threatening KC with lawyers and letting her decide what they should do. I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters and I didn't like the end. I felt like his actions weren't reflective of a man in love and because of it had a hard time with the HEA.
"The Blackstone Heir" by Dani Wade is a heartfelt second-chance romance that explores the power of family, trust, and the deep emotional needs of a child for both parents. Set in the small-town world of Southern wealth and secrets, The Blackstone Heir follows Jacob Blackstone, a successful mill owner, and KC Gatlin, a struggling bartender who once shared a passionate relationship with him. When Jacob unexpectedly discovers that KC has been raising his son in secret—a child unmistakably bearing the Blackstone blond curls—he is determined to claim his role as a father and rebuild the family he never knew he had. • Parental Presence and Child Development The novel underscores how a child thrives best with the love and presence of both parents, especially in the formative years. Jacob’s journey from a bachelor to a devoted father reflects the emotional growth required to meet a child’s needs. • Family Bonds and Sibling Connection Though the story centers on Jacob, KC, and their son, it also touches on the broader Blackstone family dynamics, highlighting the importance of sibling relationships and the healing power of familial support. • Trust and Vulnerability KC’s decision to keep her son’s paternity a secret stems from past wounds and mistrust. The story explores how trust must be rebuilt—between lovers, within families, and among friends—to create a stable and loving environment. • Friendship as Emotional Anchor Beyond romance and family, the novel emphasizes the role of trusted friends as emotional anchors, especially when navigating difficult decisions and personal growth. • Trial Run at Domesticity Jacob proposes a temporary family arrangement to prove he’s ready for fatherhood. This setup becomes a crucible for testing love, responsibility, and the possibility of a lasting future together.
Jacob and KC had a hidden love affair because she didn't fit into his perfect, planned out life that he had for himself but he couldn't stop wanting her after she left town and changed her number. It was like a moth drawn to a flame when he first laid eyes on her after so long without any contact and he was so angry when he found out about Carter and her reasons for leaving town. Once Jake worked through and processed his feelings in his head, he realized that he actually was in love with KC and wanted a life with her and Carter in it. I didn't read Aiden and Christina's book and I probably won't read Luke's book either because although this book was interesting, it wasn't enough to peak my interest to read the other two.
Dani Wade's Harlequin Desire's book, The Blackstone Heir, continues the story of the Blackstone brothers that began with A Bride's Tangled Vows. This is Jacob Blackstone's story. Jacob discovers that he is a father and wonders why his ex, KC Gatlin, kept it a secret. Jacob has returned to Black Hills to help his brother, Aiden run the family's mill. KC and Jacob have decided to give co-parenting a try. I thought this was a fun story with likable characters. I enjoyed finding out more about the Blackstones. The issue of who is involved in sabotage at the mill, is left unresolved, so I look forward to the next installment.
A beautiful romantic story - you'd think Mills and Boon novels have this cliché aspect to their storylines but really sometimes the innermost meanings that are within the pages spark the true message of the story! Really loved reading this!

'The Blackstone Heir' ~ Book Two of 'Mill Town Millionaires Series' by Dani Wade.
I've been awaiting this book's arrival at our local library since its release over a year ago and was so excited to finally have my turn to read it. Unfortunately, this was less than what I had anticipated and a bit disappointing, if you will.
In this story we have Jacob Blackstone, a southern millionaire who wants everything on his own terms - the way he planned his life out years before and, to him, the only acceptable way. KC has disappeared from Jacob's life and he's been trying to find her. They had been casually seeing one another for a year and then poof she just vanished. Jake was truly bothered by this but yet he knew she did not meet his criteria for a high society wife. He had to be in control 24/7 and the sweet and scintillating KC was the only person who'd ever caused him to lose control and he lost it every time he was with her. He craved her but he tried to keep his emotions out of it.
KC Gatlin works in her family's bar in her hometown. She and her family had been threatened by Jacob's grandfather and she was forced out of town to save her family and their bar. Once the mean old conniving grandfather was six foot under he was no longer a threat and she knew it was time to return to her hometown and tell Jacob about his three-month-old son. Typical male...Jake was furious and was set on taking their child away from its mom.
The areas that troubled me: First there was a lack of connection between the H and h. There was no sizzle, not really even much of a spark between the two. For most of the story Jacob planned not to allow himself to commit to KC. For me, she was his dirty little secret. They only got together at her house. He wouldn't take her out in public and after a year she had not met his family. He was rejecting her the same way her father had years ago. It was really quite sad for her and she appeared to be somewhat uncomfortable throughout the book. At least that's how it felt to me.
He let us know from the beginning that she was not the right woman for him. She was too below his station in life, not what he planned to have on his arm for a lifetime. Plus KC was a firecracker and he had his life 'planned' out - everything planned out to the minutest detail. KC liked to be surprised and spontaneous. It made him feel out of control which he could not tolerate.
I guess to describe it in one word would be 'blah.' Most of the time the hero was not very likable. The heroine was sweet and kind all the way through but she was also hurt and sad because she knew he would never be her future.
I didn't realize I'd stepped into a series, so I found myself wondering what I'd missed in the first story. We pick up with KC Gatlin, returning from being away (presumably forced to leave by the Blackstone patriarch before his death). Now he's dead, she's back and encountering her former lover, Jacob Blackstone, whom she up and left at his grandfather's command - not that she was leaving that much...she was Jacob's dirty little secret (or so she thought). What Jacob didn't realize is that KC left while pregnant with his child and returned with a 3 month old boy. When he learns of it, he's livid and anxious to prove that he can be a good father, which is good, because KC doesn't trust him. Heck she knows nothing about him outside of the bedroom. Jacob has his own demands and is dealing with his own problems with a saboteur at the Mill that his family owns. And he never did get KC out of his system, so in addition to getting his son, he's also getting his woman.
A pretty solid story. I'm thinking I might have gotten more out of this if I had actually read the first story in the series. This at least was a pretty forgivable reason for a woman to do the secret baby thing. I always get hung up on the - "there's no excuse for keeping a child from its father" thing, but this story proves that sometimes there is. And Jacob reacted pretty normally considering what happened. He said some mean, worrisome things while justifiably angry, but he didn't turn into an asshole really. But in all his anger I'm not sure he made it clear what he would have preferred KC do. (And what does KC stand for anyway?) This is a pretty great story of a couple learning to be parents together and the hero learning to communicate and let another person in to his life. That was the solid part of this. What I felt was lacking was the romance. I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters and when they decided to take it to the sexual level it felt sort of awkward and out of the blue. There wasn't really any build up to it - it was all platonic and then suddenly, the hero knew he was taking the heroine to bed. We were told that they were getting comfortable and flirty together, but we never really got to see it. So yeah. I'd give this author another read though for sure.

"The Blackstone Heir" by Dani Wade is a part of the series 'Billionaires and Babies.' It can be read as part of the series or as a stand alone. There is enough information in this book that the reader could follow the story without reading the series, but I do recommend reading it as a series.
In this story we find KC Gatlin who is back in town after giving birth to a little boy. She was having a fun, no commitment, relationship Jacob Blackstone. Jacob doesn't know that he became a father after the last time they were with each other. Jacob's Grandfather threatened to ruin KC's family business and shut down most of the town if KC were to mention the child to him. So she was biding her time. When he died she knew she was able to finally come home.
Jacob doesn't want people to know that he had a relationship with KC. There was some things going on at the plant, and he was trying to keep KC and his son safe. Will KC see it through his eyes or will her insecurities about not being wanted come between them? There is much more to this book, and a few other twists and turns that come to play. It's a fairly quick read, and thoroughly enjoyable.
The Blackstone family owned the mill and most of the real estate in the town of Black Hills.. old James Blackstone was not a nice man. KC met Jacob Blackstone, one of James's grandsons on a plane. KC worked in the local bar in Black Hills. The chemistry was right and she and Jacob had an affair. Jacob made sure it was quiet and no one knew. He visited her when he was in town but never took her out in public. One day KC left town and changed her phone number. Jacob missed her but she really wasn't in his social group.
When old James Blackstone died, KC came home to her family. She also brought her blond curley haired baby. Jacob also came back to Black Hills to live. He and his brother's were drinking in the bar when KC answered her phone and left. Jacob always pretended he did not know KC in public but he was dying to see her so he followed her to her mother's house behind the bar. Mama came to the door with a crying curly haired bold infant. Jacob did not need a paternity test to know it was his.
The Blackstone Heir was an enjoyable read. I really liked the characters and thought they were fully developed. KC and Jacob had a sexual relationship until she left town. KC comes back, but doesn't come back alone. Jacob finds out he's a father and decides he wants his son. KC had a reason for leaving, but Jacob doesn't make it easy for her in the beginning. This book is filled with secrets, doubts, and romance. I really enjoyed Jacob's character, once he started to let down some of his walls, and trust his feelings. And I loved KC. She did everything for her son and didn't give into Jacob, no matter how tempting he was. This was a great read that left me smiling at the end.
This is a really enjoyable read that is well written and has delightful characters. There is mistrust, determination, sexual chemistry and a bit of mystery. Jacob and KC need to learn to trust themselves before they can trust each other and move forward. Their journey has obstacles, but true love is worth it!!
"Their tug-of-war for control is a front for complicated emotions and insecurities, but they come together with passion, honesty and trust" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
This is the second book in the Billionaires and Babies series. The love story between Jacob and KC has closure but the suspense part of the series is still unresolved. Looking forward to the next book.
Cute and nicely paced. Interesting side characters. A little bit of mystery... which is not resolved! So a heads up before you read, don't get too involved in the sabotage, because there's no answers.
Jacob and Jc must learn to trust each other. This book has a little of everything and some mystery to be thrown in also. Good book and an author to watch.
