Mr. Bentini's Lady: The Beginning

Rate this book
Mr. Bentini's Lady To help pay the bills, overworked and underappreciated middle school teacher, Tiressa Hawkins, applies for a temp position at Bentini and Sons. By some strange twist of fate, she becomes the personal assistant of Mrs. Bentini, the matriarch of the Bentini family. Tiressa not only loves her new job, she also loves that it pays much more than she ever earned as a teacher. Everything goes well until Tiressa meets Antonio Bentini. From the first moment that powerful executive Antonio Bentini, meets Tiressa Hawkins, he is captivated by her. So much so, that he insists on breaking Mrs. Bentini’s number one rule and sets out to make himself the most important man in Tiressa’s life. Tiressa has to decide if she dare take a chance and risk not only her great paying job, but also her heart. Antonio says he wants her love, but is he really telling her the truth. Is what he offering real, or could it turn out to be nothing more than a meaningless affair? You will not regret immersing yourself in the love story of Antonio & Tiressa. Mr. Bentini’s Lady is an interracial (black woman, white man) romance. This 64,677 word novella is the first in this series. It contains adult situations, sexual language, and sexual content. Appropriate for mature readers 18+ Note to If you prefer a spicier version of this book, look for Mr. Bentini’s An Erotic Romance. It’s the same great story with added erotic sizzle. Prologue I enter the building and decide to take the stairs to the third floor instead of the elevator. As I get to the second level, a voice bounces off the walls and stops me dead in my tracks. “You must want Mr. Matthews to get hurt.” I gasp in shock as I look up to see Antonio walking down the stairs towards me. My first thought is, ‘Shit did he see me with Derrick…and if he did, how much did he actually see?!’ My second thought is, ‘He’s so intimidating when he stabs me with those cold pewter eyes. Now is definitely not the time to talk about money!’ Then bizarrely I think, ‘My Gawd! No man should be that damn fine!’ To see such powerful thighs encased in a pair of very long denim blue jeans. And his chest! His chest and arms are so muscular, he must never miss a workout. There is nothing NOT sexy about Antonio Bentini. He is definitely a triple threat. “Imagine my surprise… I get back in town, rush here to see my lady… And find her in the arms of another man.” Antonio’s voice is low and dangerous. I want to say something. I open my mouth to say something. My lips move, but no words come out. “You didn’t answer my question, Ti. Do you want Derrick Matthews to get hurt?” How in the world would he hurt him? He can‘t be saying that he’ll have a physical confrontation with Derrick? –Is he? “No…No, of course not.” I start stepping back. Antonio matches me step for step until he backs me up against the wall. “Whatever is going on between you and Derrick Matthews stops today. This minute. Do you understand what I’m saying, Tiressa?” He grates out in an infuriated voice. He seems more threatening because he isn’t yelling. The more upset he is, the lower his voice—as if it takes him a great deal of control not to lose control. Although we are not touching, I can feel the heat and energy radiating from his body into mine. I guess I didn’t answer fast enough because Antonio grabs me by the arms and gives me a little shake. I quickly stammer a reply. “Yes. I understand you.

Pregnancy- Not necessarily by choice.
Sexual Encounters- Ruff? Yes, but I am ashamed to say I liked it!
Commitment- Wanted, but basically forced.
Out of control- Overly possessive.
Chemistry- Hot!

Unanswered questions- What will become of William and Katherine? What's up with Maya/Vitto? Did something happen between them at the
twins birthday party? Are Jason and Carmen the real deal? Antonio and Christopher have shared secrets? Could Christopher and Tony's taste in women be the same? Have we seen the last of Derrick chasing Ti or will he find a love of his own? Follow up please!

Though it would have been nice if there had been more push and shove between Tiressa and Antonio. I get what Jaye was shooting for and understand how this could be some woman's fantasy, but not mine. Still, I really enjoyed both book immensely! Can't wait to read the follow up! Hope it's long and juicy too! Congratulations, Jaye McCloud.. You just scored a new fan!

The beginning of this was a little nerve wracking and trying to figure out Tiressa's issues with men was frustrating. It picked up when Antonio showed up and getting the bits and pieces of what he was actually up to was good. He came across a bit crazy and seemed always on the verge of snapping. The ending is a bit disturbing and really makes him look bad but I can't be sure just what Tiressa wants because she's so fickle. What could've been really good was turned into something extremely uncomfortable but I still don't know if she enjoyed or will keep this thing going. I'll find out in the next one though.

A Sweet and Sensual Interracial Romance

Mr. Bentini's Lady: The Beginning (The Bentini Brothers) is a sweet and sensual interracial romance novel that earned a rating of four stars. Tiressa and Antonio met when she was hired to become his mother's personal assistant. He have strong feelings for her but she was reluctant even though she was attractive to him. Tiressa has to over come a lot obstacles to accept what Antionio is asking of her. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading very good interracial romance novels.

Love at it's best.

I love the way they fall in love. I love how the writer captures the way society thinks from all sides and is not one sided. I love the characters and can't wait to read the next book. Great story all the way around.

The book is good but....

I like this book a lot but the “heroine” gets on my nerves with her skittish ways. She is her own worst enemy and if I didn’t love the Antonio and his family, I would have left this book alone.

Okay, the author had a really good plot idea, but lost it. I got lost immediately because prologue referenced something that happened at the end of the book. Therefore you spend half of the book wondering who Antonio was and hen would she meet him. The main character introduces herself by talking about her looks, and never describes herself..weird huh? While trying to pump up self love... The character reeks of self doubt and it jut doesn't mesh.**Spoiler** There were some sections that were totally pointless. The author went on about the beauty of black people coming in all different shades and using food to describe skin color for a whole page and didn't link it to the character at all. She could have tied it in by say im what they call caramal brown , or coffee colored etc. it was just weird. i couldnt under stand Antoino "the alpha male", all of a sudden we get his persepective and it really confuses me. ihe is potrsyed to have a "black girl fetish". Then there was the worst love scene ever. I felt like she was being raped, and yet the author eludes to the fact that they "made-love" more then once. He is clueless to her tension and discomfort. I felt as though these two were not a "meant to be couple". Hands down I was not happy. I doubt even care how it ends. Sad because I felt like it had potential.

I have been desperate to read this story but was unable to get the book in the UK. Then a reading buddy very kindly gifted me books 1 and 2 read of this series. I have not read this author before.

Tiressa Hawkins and Antonio Bentini's story. I loved the storyline for the book and although I enjoyed the story there are couple of points that detracted from the story for me.

The beginning of the book is all about Ti's early life and her trials with past relationships and one ex who she works with and he is still after her. It is not until 38% into the book before Ti and Tony connect and even then the story keeps involving the minor characters. I would have liked to have seen way more interaction between the couple of how they felt about each other.

When finally Tony claims Ti as his and they reach the intimate stage in their relationship, it came across as if Tony forced himself on her. I am not sure if this was the author's intent but it kind of spoilt that whole build up of the romance and his pursuit of her. The author made it seem as if Ti hated the intimacy between then and it was painful and unwelcome. So it did not come across as a happy ever after moment at all. This spoilt the ending for me.

Nevertheless it was an engrossing read. On to book 2.

What The Heck Is This?

Well I have to confess that I really don't know how to write this review. This was a story that could have been so good if it had been a story rather than a series of conversations or paragraphs put together. The chemistry between Tony and Ti has so much potential, that the writer missed out on capturing the opportunities. Also the wording is so correct, that it leaves you saying"real people don't talk that way"I mean really,as the young people say. Also what's up with the"Gawd",it's overkill.Every now and then a little wow or got to be more careful would have sufficed.I just don't know if I want to read the second installment, afraid it will be more of the same. This was a story that has so much going, had quite a few laugh out loud moments,it is just neglected.I think maybe a rewrite is in order and then gone over with a fine tooth comb.An okay read.

Great Story with great characters!

This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed the story as I found the characters to be relatable and complex . I found it a little difficult to hear the B word used more than it seemed necessary. Without it's use, the story is just as good. I think this was a very good start of the Bentini Brother's Series. I think the story has great characters and a compelling storyline. I love the Alphaness of Antonio and the brains and thoughtfulness of Tiressa's character. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. Great Job Jaye McCloud!

I struggled with this book. Good story but the heroine is so immature. Tiressa is so afraid of what people think and so afraid to believe that a white man could be interested in her; a poor little black girl. It was down right frustrating to read talk herself into this negative thought pattern.

Additionally you would that this girl had never had sex before. It's painful, please stop, no, okay yes yes. I needed this girl to have a backbone. Please Jaye stop with "Gawd" stuff.

Alpha Italian Male

Even though the book has a very slow start ( they don't lay eyes on each other until about one third into the story), it finally redeemed itself. Antonio took one look at Tiressa and decided she was his. Tiressa, after a bad marriage and more than a few trust issues, took a little more persuading. Great book!

Not Bad

Not Bad

I give this book 3 stars because it took (in my opinion) to long to get to things. And To was saggy to scared for a black woman. Yes we have fears like most , but this story just made her too needy.

Started of slow at first that I skip some pages until they met. It was a great read and a building of love story. I love the heroine and hero.

Mr Bentini

This was my first read by this author. I liked the book and the characters. The story flowed well and there was a bit of passion mixed in. Ti did get in my nerves a bit with how hung up she was on race and money. I'm not sure how I felt about how Antonio was at the end. He was a bit forceful and dominating. Not qualities I like at all.
