I remember that the Japanese companies had a lifetime employment system in the late 1980s. The company president had thought that his employees were the most important management resource, and equated them with a kind of his family. Therefore we had various study meeting even off the work.
However, in this globalization days, I don't think good ideas, the Japanese companies had changed the seniority system into the meritocracy.
This book is depicting well the turbulent ages.
