"Learning to look at things differently is one of the secrets of genius." (Howard Stephen Berg, Mastering Your Mind's Hidden Powers)

This was an interesting program by the World's Fastest Reader, Howard Stephen Berg. In it, he gives tips on untapping your hidden genius and unlocking your brain's hidden powers.

Some of things he covered were that we can keep from aging by keeping our brains active by reading and learning, how asking the right questions unlocks the unconscious brain to seek the answers, how our unconscious brain has a language based upon emotions, symbols and dreams. Also, he teaches how geniuses make an effort to see things from different perspectives.

He takes you through a few exercises to unlock some of the hidden powers of your brain, such as drawing symbols, assigning meaning and feelings to a deck of cards...

My favourite lesson in this audio program was on how questions are the key to successful learning. He says, "geniuses are ready to see things that no one else is seeing. Ready to question what everyone else accepts as truth." He also covers why it is not about just asking questions, but asking the RIGHT questions and how it is important to ask positive questions, rather than negative questions because positive questions yield positive answers and negative questions yield negative answers (my words). Your unconscious brain will go to work finding answers to the questions that you ask.

3 stars because I don't think this material was comprehensive enough for what the title promised.

Audiobook: Voice recording from a lecture or presentation, so the mic picks up all sorts of rasps and background notes, but is generally clear. Read by the author, who has a quaint lisp and a strong New York/Brooklyn accent.

Overview: I can't tell if he's a genius or an eccentric, though he may be a little of both. It's not that he wants us to believe the tarot-like card setup itself sends us messages: it's more about how the cards may allow us to speak a different language about intuition and so we can tap our inner genius in a methodical practice until we don't need the cards anymore and can just ask the right questions about life... He truly believes in using this systematic approach to become brilliant and intuitive, and shares the system in great detail. Somewhere in his discussion he also delivers the idea that people may have quantumly entangled brain chemistry, and this is the first explanation of human connectivity and coincidental occurrences I have come across that might just satisfy my inner skeptic. He presents some fascinating ideas to think upon.

Favourite quotes:

"40% of everything that I'm teaching you in biology isn't correct. The problem is, we don't know which 40% it is yet." Mr. Batton, Berg's old biology teacher

"Questions are the key to better learning."

Summarizing the card system: Ask a question, lay out the cards, and interpret the symbols and their placement into your intuition. Start thinking in terms of feelings and emotions. Your intuition lies in your unconscious brain and now you have a language to talk with your intuition. Eventually you don't need the cards to interact with your intuition, they're just a stepping stone.

I listened to the audio book version which is about 2 hours. Wow. It actually shows a pretty interesting exercise to access intuition by assigning meaning to a deck of cards similar to a tarot. Persuasive and insightful, I recommend this for accessing the subconscious mind!

If you come to table, thinking you know everything, you will not able to learn. Think about what's the thing that blocking you from learning the new thing. You challenge your believe and then you have enough emotion to trigger the state.
