This is such a lovely story to share with one child, a small group of children or a class of children...the mesmerising and realistic illustrations really draw you in and the plot is easy to understand. Encourages empathy in the children as they consider the feelings of all the characters in this story as the story continues. A timeless story.

My name is Harry and I think this book is perfect. The illustrations are very good and there are lots of words to read on each page. The story itself is very sweet and it made my mommy want to cry.

I read this book to my brother. I used to love this book when I was a kid. I think it's a cute book with great illustrations. I would recommend this book to kids that are just learning how to read and want a cute little story!
James loves his stuffed elephant, Harry, and brings him everywhere. They bicycle, climb to the top of a hill, gather sheep, feed cattle, and bring in the hay. But on the first day of kindergarten, Harry must stay at home. James is awfully worried about his old friend Harry. Harry drops off James at school. When James got done, he missed Harry. The next day James brought Harry to school.
I would recommend this book to four year old boys and girls because they have a special bond with toy animals. My brother thought it was a great book.

Read for my son tonight. I replaced the main character with my son's name and he likes it. 3.5 years old may be too young to understand why Harry has no replies to James and always silent. We both like how Harry's ears were clipped on the line to dry. A good read.

Sweet story about a beloved stuffed animal, growing worse for wear, but still a best friend. Love this author/illustrator and the border collies in the background of the farm.

Quite old fashioned in story tone and art style.

This is a book that was a favorite of my son's. Sawyer had a donkey as well loved as Harry in this lovely story. The problem was that I could not red the story without crying at the end, which became a source of amusement as my children grew older.

Although it is a children's book, I found it a little bit plotless and unsatisfying, although there was an emotional plot going on.....
