Luke Cavan is dead to me.
Luke has had my heart for as long as I can remember, but he never noticed me before that night. His piercing blue eyes and panty melting smile were suddenly pointed in my direction. The problem? He is my twin brother’s best friend, and I am not his type. At least I thought I wasn’t. On graduation night, I finally gave into him, only to be shattered when I overheard his true feelings. I took off in my Jeep, headed west, and never looked back. I left that old girl behind, and everything that she stood for.
Now, three years later I’m going into my senior year of college and life is so good. I am the captain of the cheerleading team of California Crest University, I live in the most beautiful house in Malibu, and I’m surrounded by my favorite people. What could possibly ruin this year?
I’ll tell you.
A grumpy, stubborn man with icy blues eyes showing up as a transfer thanks to my traitorous brother. Suddenly I am living in the room next to the only boy who has owned my heart, and the only boy who has shattered it. He followed me from coast to coast, but is he the same boy who broke me all those years ago?

OMG, this book is EVERYTHING! Five stars, hands down ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!

Imagine this: you're finally living your best life—cheer captain 👑, a dream house in Malibu 🌊, and everything is just perfect. And then he shows up... the one guy who totally wrecked your heart 💔. Yep, the broody bad boy with those dangerously icy blue eyes 😏 who also happens to be your brother’s best friend. Awkward, right? Especially after that one unforgettable night where things got real… until he shattered your world 😣.

Fast forward three years, and just when you’ve moved on, BOOM 💥, he transfers to your college (thanks, bro 🙄), and now you’re stuck living next to the guy who both stole and smashed your heart ❤️‍🔥. But wait—is he still the same guy who broke you, or is there something more behind that grumpy, irresistible exterior? 😈

This story has ALL the angst, ALL the tension, and ALL the swoon-worthy moments you crave 💖🔥! It's a total page-turner, and trust me, you’ll be rooting for these two to either finally figure it out—or combust from the heat 🔥🔥🔥! Loved every second of it!

Was I smiling? YES. Was I giggling? YES. Is Luke Cavan dead to me? ABSOLUTELY NOT 😍
The tropes were troping! Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, brothers best friend, this book has it all 🤩
I couldn’t put the book down and now I’m so invested in the side characters that I can’t wait for the next book! Write faster and take my money because I’ll be in line for the next book release 🤪

Super cute book with very fun and lovable characters! The miscommunication was a bit frustrating at times, but the chemistry and emotional depth made up for it. Lots of great tension, heartfelt moments, and just the right amount of angst. The family dynamics were absolutely amazing, adding so much warmth to the story, and the character development was really well done. It’s a perfect feel-good romance with just enough emotional depth to keep you hooked!

PERFECT JUST PERFECT!!!! I enjoyed this book so so much! I had so much fun reading this and watching the FMC and MMC fall in love, hurt one another, and fall in love all over again. The ache I felt in my chest for both characters made me cry and wallow all over the place and the SPICE WAS SPICING! Holy crap! It was so so so so good. 10000000/10! If I could give it more stars than five I totally would!

WOW! I don’t even have the words yet to put on paper about how incredible this book was! Normally, I’m a dark romance or romantasy kinda book gal, but I COULD NOT PUT THIS DOWN! Two days later and I was finished reading it and neglecting all of my adult responsibilities! So glad I came across this story of Keegan and Luke, and can’t WAIT to read the next books! Keep it up Kat, you are an incredible writer! ❤️😘🌶️

3.5 ⭐ A brother's best friend, friends to enemies to lovers read that had me invested in the story enough to want to finish it in a couple of hours ❤️🔥

⭐ Rating Criteria ⭐

🩵 Plot:

I enjoyed the premise of the story - which, aside from the tropes, is the primary reason I chose to read this in the first place. It had a pretty cliche main plot conflict that stemmed from a misunderstanding, but I didn't mind that. In fact, it made for a really good plot build-up because it became the reason for Keagan to change herself.

But, I feel like the series of events in terms of Keagan and Luke’s relationship wasn’t really consistent - their actions were starkly different from their words - and that made the timeline wonky for me.

Another thing I didn't like was how there literally wasn't any communication between both MCs. They didn't talk to each other when Keagan decided to make up with Luke - the decision only came after she read the letter from her mom - and Luke only found out about why Keagan left from Maeve. They could've solved their problems if they'd just talked to each other. It was pretty frustrating to read all of that.

🩵 Characters:

The characters were written to be pretty unrealistic; they seemed like people you'd come up with if you were thinking of a fanfic or Wattpad story. Keagan's character, for example, literally went from being a shy, nerdy highschooler to suddenly becoming a popular influencer and cheerleader who attracts everyone in college - that's peak Wattpad character development. Because of that surface level characterization, I couldn't really connect with anyone.

However, I did enjoy reading about them. I loved the tension between Keagan and Luke, as well as their friend group's dynamic. Also, the fact that Luke has a nickname solely for Keagan? Cute!

🩵 Writing Style:

While I do like the story, I think it could’ve been executed better. Given that it is the author’s debut book, there is much to improve on.

One I would point out is that there were a few conflict points that seemed to be randomly inserted into the story, and didn’t feel cohesive with the overall plot. I feel like the author should have stuck to the major conflict plot which already had the build-up it needed. The others could have worked, but the way they were written didn’t work out - they were introduced one chapter and were immediately fixed in the next one.

🩵 Overall:

While the writing fell flat for me, I loved the actual plot as well as all the characters, and I’m looking forward to the next books in this series because of the found family. I also really liked the actual plot, and just setting all the other factors aside, I enjoyed reading this and finished it quickly because I was in it for the plot.

Hopefully the next books will have interesting plots as well. I know Maeve’s next in line, but I’m excited for Nolan and Maggie’s book 😍

This was such a great book!! I’d rate it a 4.5/5 so upped it to 5 on here. I think the characters relationships made this book so good. All the tropes at once were amazing - second chance, brothers best friend, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, found family - it had all the feels!! I am excited to read further books from this series as I love interconnecting stories and especially with siblings or family members. I’m dying to learn more about each Kelly family member and see them find their happily ever afters. I never would have guessed this was a debut novel, as it was extremely well written and felt like someone with a lot of releases. Just a really good book I look forward to reading more of!! I am also a total sucker for a 90s romcom, especially she’s all that!! So loved all of the references! I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book exhausted me more than a full day with my two daughters under ten — and not in a good way. For me, it reads much more like a YA novel than an adult romance. In fact, it’s exactly the kind of college romance that reminds me why I struggle with the genre.

The story is packed with immaturity and poor decision-making. The characters often come across as spoiled and reckless rather than compelling. Keegan is only 21, yet she celebrates by going to an exclusive, discreet nightclub that even provides private spaces for hookups. On top of that, the way these barely-legal siblings host what essentially feels like a sex party — with their father’s full knowledge and support — was deeply uncomfortable for me.

What made it worse is that their father not only allows this behavior but actively enables it. He provides the setting, throws lavish parties with the same atmosphere, and even permits underage drinking without consequence. Instead of acting like a responsible parent, he seems to facilitate the very recklessness that defines his children’s lives. It left me genuinely questioning the family dynamics and values being portrayed.

And the miscommunication — it was constant and frustrating. Yes, they’re 21 and under, so some immaturity is expected. But even then, it became exhausting to read.

Then there’s Luke. He claims he has always loved Keegan and never stopped loving her, yet he sleeps with numerous classmates before her — and even enters another relationship after she runs away. I simply couldn’t reconcile his actions with his declarations. It made it very hard for me to connect emotionally with the romance.

I understand that the characters are portrayed as filthy rich, and perhaps that’s meant to explain their lifestyle. But instead of helping me relate, it distanced me even more. Maybe I was too demure at that age — and probably too broke — to understand this kind of world.

In the end, this book didn’t just frustrate me; it genuinely drained me. Unfortunately, not in a way that made the reading worthwhile.

I finished this book in probably 2.5 hours top. It was very fast paced allowing me to go from chapter to chapter without wanting to stop.

I typically don’t enjoy books in the setting of highschool/ early college age range but I really loved the character progression and, different personalities this book had to offer. I felt as if Keegan might have been just a little irrational by moving her entire life in .2 seconds flat but, if I was in her position & had the option to move cross country I would take it in a heart beat. She is so brave for manning a cross country road trip alone with the clothes on her back and her trust baby blue jeep.

Keegan & Luke have loved one another since the start but, both were too blissfully unaware how the other truly felt. Until the night of graduation Luke finally had the courage to tell Tigg exactly how he felt and, of course she felt the same back. After over hearing an “unpleasant” comment from Luke the morning after she hurriedly left without a note to say goodbye.
Fast track to college she thinks she’s over Luke by putting on a persona for social media and pretending to be perfect but her walls come crashing down the second he shows up , surprising her by moving in to finish his senior year of college in close proximity to her. They quickly fall back into their ways and it was a bit painful to see them constantly dancing around the conversation of why she left. I was glad when they finally had it and aired that awkward convo out.
Sinclair is honestly so grimmy for what he did but, thankful Joe was able to handle that situation.
I love that Mr. Kelly showed up to fight for his daughter and there was a moment of resolve for why he wasn’t always present as the grew up.

I loved Luke and his intense jealousy over her and, his needs to always be near her and protect her at all costs. I loved their banter and, loved the ending!

If I’m anything, it’s honest—and I did not expect this book to be THIS GOOD! One of the best parts about this bookstagram community is stumbling across authors who are new or just getting started. And y’all… Kathryn Coin’s 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹 (and book 1 of the Coast to Coast series) absolutely blew me away. 🌊📖

After the prologue, I thought, 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺, 𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦 - 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴. At first, I wasn’t as connected as I usually am (since when did I become such a harsh critic?? 👀)… but then Kathryn hit us with a 𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 that showcased the depth of Luke and Keegan’s history—and it was 𝘉𝘙𝘐𝘓𝘓𝘐𝘈𝘕𝘛.

✨ Keegan is such a strong FMC. Even without a ton of confidence at first, her pure authenticity shined through and worked in her favor.

✨ Luke… oh, Luke. 🫠 A loyal, handsome, perfect man whose eyes and heart were only for 𝘰𝘯𝘦 woman. The way Keegan assumed his flirting was meaningless? Hilarious—because literally 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 could see just how genuine their connection was.

This series is only getting started, and I cannot wait to dive into book 2 before book 3 drops at the end of the month. Kathryn Coin—you’re going to make huge waves in the best way possible! 🌊💙

ok so
I really did enjoy this book
I loved the fast paced/quick easy read that this book was
BUT

I just wanted more.
Keegan was like almost too whiny for me and her urge and ability to run was actually starting to drive me insane because you can just SEE and FEEL how hard Luke was trying to keep her.

Luke, however
THAT MAN
THAT MOUTH
Omg obsessed with him, he can do no wrong

However, all this running business and hating each other was all over a misunderstanding and that lowkey irritated me sooooooooo bad. They could have had years, but I guess everything happens for a reason and like, they needed to find their way back together.

I did however, really come to love their relationship
Once Keegan let the walls down and let Luke in, their relationship was all sparks

Luke’s dad sucked
End of story.

Overall it was a really cute and sweet and fast read
I honestly am intrigued to read the rest of the series still

Summary of book- Keegan has been in love with luke for a long time. What happens when they finally get together after her graduation party only to here him say that it was just a hookup? She runs. Luke, not knowing she heard him returns to his room to discover that she is gone. Fast forward three years, both have hearts of ice because of one another and still love each other whether they want to admit it or not.
Personal thoughts- I love how luke was determined to get keegan back. The plot was amazing and I find myself wanting more. I would totally read every kelly sibling book and even one about their dad. The pacing of the book was just perfect. Not too fast, not too slow. I cant wait to read more from this author!!

Devoured in hours!

4.5 🌟🌟🌟🌟✨

I found out this was a debut novel and damn it’s this good?! The storyline, the angst, banter, laughter and tears, how Luke and Keegan navigated their life after seeing each other in 3 years. Though, that .5 was a miss. I knew it was a misunderstanding but still, it itches me when Luke said Keegan was begging for him like a slut to Keegan’s brother. I wouldn’t let it past me.

AHHHHHH SO AMAZING! 🌶️🌶️🌶️ spice was on point! It was surprisingly deep and the story was fleshed out with family dynamics, deep grief and family healing at the loss of their mother at a young age. Keegan and Luke have tension you can feel as you read their story. So excited to have a new favorite author who is local to me. I do suspect there is something with Nolan and Maggie for a 3rd book....
