Set in the more sordid parts of New Orleans, Long-Legged Fly and Moth feature a black private investigator who has a bad drinking problem, a shady past, and a present that continually tries to drag him down into the depths of hell.
James Sallis (born 21 December 1944 in Helena, Arkansas) is an American crime writer, poet and musician, best known for his series of novels featuring the character Lew Griffin and set in New Orleans, and for his 2005 novel Drive, which was adapted into a 2011 film of the same name.
I have begun reading the author's series regarding Lew Griffin. The series has a different twist to them than other crime noir books. The lead character is not a person who you would admire. However, for all his faults he tries his best to help those who come to him for help. The author also paints for us the darker side of the Big Easy. I recommend this book without hesitation.
