Although the book's title suggests the book is about imagining a world after whatever might happen on 2012, in fact, the book says almost nothing about 2012 and focuses nearly exclusively on 2012.

Jones did have some interesting points about the rapidly increasing rate of information acquisition but that was really the only useful thing I took from the book. It was still pretty new-agey and I find it hard to take seriously any book that cites wikipedia as a source (wikipedia is a starting point, not an end point) and all the images seemed to be from wikicommons (wikimedia?)websites. I probably shouldn't hold that against it but it does contribute to the vanity press feeling.

I'm still looking for something equal to Apocalypse 2012 and this definitely wasn't it.

The initial premise of the book caught my eye. With all the hype about 2012, the Mayan calendar predictions, and all the apocalyptical views about what this year may mean, a book that goes beyond that year seem pretty interesting.

However, I felt the author is too scattered and can't keep her focus in one thing. It seemed that she was trying too hard to sound knowledgeable by showing how much she researched, but not getting to a specific point.

I must say that even as I tried to force myself to sticking to it, I just couldn't.

Not quite what I expected. More of a bunch of short stories but they were not the doom and gloom you would think.
