A good chunk of the book had to do with proposing, but overall it affirmed everything I needed to know about being a groom while giving me a few new tips. It's a good bathroom book.
Yep I am a female and nowhere close to being a groom but I was intrigued by this little book, which is about the size of your palm but packed full of goodies. And I am so jealous the guys have such a good book like this out and laying about :)
First of all I think it is probably safe to say that even though it is leaning towards grooms in general this book can be read by anyone. In fact I would even recommend it for a bride-to-be just since there is so much good and wise advice within the book for marriage and honeymoon planning that it will help her to be able to get some control of the perils that may be found or how to just relax while planning up on this great event.
Eric San Juan does a great job in keeping the book clean and clear enough that it isn't heavy lecturing reading. There is also a lightheartedness to the pages while a brotherly tone that makes for fast reading since it is like he is in the same room and sharing with you, which in a sense you can say he is, but at a pace that doesn't seem like it's hurried.
And finally as a female I did some good giggles while I know that at the diner they were probably wondering what I was reading at the diner. Seems like I was in good company when reading the dedication....

I recently received Eric San Juan's Stuff every groom Should Know for free through Goodreads First Reads. I was looking forward to this pocket sized book of tips for grooms.
Although I have not been a groom, nor foresee being one in the future, this book provides some straight forward tips on handling the engagement, wedding planning, reception, and after wedding tips. Despite not being a groom, most of these simple tips could help a man in any type of relationship. I could see this as being a good gift for any man thinking of marriage in the near future.
Perhaps this book will be more beneficial for someone else, and perhaps I’m spoiled with a fiancée who has brought up nearly every point in this book to me recently prior to me reading it.
I did like the part on Page 106 in which it gave advice for smiling in photos: “Put the tip of your tongue at the roof of your mouth, right where it meets your front teeth”.
Loved the simplicity and humor of this book. Having been a groom, my wife and I had some fun with this little book with things I did right and some things I did not-so-right. I even let my brother-in-law who plans to get married later this year read the book. Good stuff for any groom.
If my “Ruin of Kings” counts as 1 book then so does this little pocket book! Given to my fiance by his aunts, it’s a really helpful book and really seems inspiring for men who are a little more resistant to help and tries to get them to put their hands in it all (as well as puts in every section to check with your soon to be wife!) I talk a lot about toxic masculinity in books but this book is really so well written and feels so masculine in a healthy, dad-talking-to-his-son kind of way. This little guy wasn’t what I was expecting to be honest. Originally a 3 star book but honestly, I will be going over it again before the wedding here and there so it’s now technically a 4 star book.
Frankly, this book was either written for 16 year olds or for people who've never interacted with a woman before in their life. I thought it would be about planning a wedding, actual useful tips. Not stuff like "How to have sex as a married couple" what a joke.
I received this book as a Goodreads Giveaway. (Hardcover, pocket-sized)
I really enjoyed this book, and I'm not a groom. It was a very quick read, the tone and pacing of the book is great, and it keeps things light while conveying plenty of very useful information.
This is a pocket-sized book, broken up into four main sections: Engagement Stuff, Wedding Planning Stuff, Wedding Day Stuff, and After-Wedding Stuff. All the sections are broken down into more specific topics, but all are short and sweet and to the point. The Author manages to impart valuable and handy advice while maintaining a casual and upbeat atmosphere.
There were a few typos in the text, but they were all minor and easy to overlook. I would definitely recommend this book to others, (not just grooms or groom hopefuls). The information and advice it contains is helpful across the board and can easily translate to others. The enjoyable writing style here made me want to look up the author to see what else he'd written. (And I'm hoping that there might be "Stuff Every Bride/Wife Should Know" companion books sometime soon.)
