First published in 1983 and now in its third edition, this authority on infants and young children and their care is a vital resource for any parent - fully updated with new photography.
Good guidance available and which is very helpful for new parents, i started following some of good practices for my baby as well, so recommended that this guidance book is a good initiative.
Honestly don't bother, I had so many problems with this book and so did my partner, the author didn't seem friendly at all and at times came over as being blunt and judgemental. It seemed a bit sexist in places too, everytime it mentioned a potential problem that could arise the author referred to the baby or child as a he, when talking about something sweet or good of course it was a she..... There are better books out there for a guide to early years and parenting so I urge you to give this one a miss!!
Very concise and to the point. Very many covered topics, great reference book. To me, being a European this British style was more pleasant to read than bestsellers by Sears. The only cons I can remember: author is adamantly against sleeping in the same bed, which is a matter of debate in most other books.
Full with pictures, this book is very user friendly. It's like "The Idiots Guide to Parenting". If you need to have a quick look on what to do with your baby but you don't really like reading that much, this is the one.
This is my top recommendation for new moms. It's a very basic look at all the little things you need/want to know as a new mom. There are lots of photos, great descriptions, and it's the most basic things (sometimes things so basic you'd be embarrassed to ask someone). Love it!
