Magnus is now Einar, a Viking warrior tasked with a quest that would crush most in a heartbeat.
Odin's command is Destroy my enemies and prevent Ragnarok.
The enemies of a god are no simple creatures, yet powerful beings over their own.
Einar must now form a small pack and venture into the Elven realm of Alfheim to assist them against the dark forces. While there, he also wants to acquire the reagents needed to create more runes.
Rising tension between the realms and races requires him to prove the Vikings are on the side of the elves and Freyr against the forces of destruction.
Death comes for all, and Vikings do not fear it; instead, they fear the weakness that happens with each rebirth.
Can Einar and his pack help push back the evil that plagues Aelfheim while limiting the number of deaths and thus growing weaker? Can they can earn the favor of the gods by proving their commitment to stopping Ragnarok? Or will they fail, and unleash the end of the world?
Beautifully written when real emotion and great characters and action... Highly recommend JD Glasscock Author of the Series Blood Brothers, Nocturne and Warborn
I caught various editing errors like repeated partial sentences and possible missing cut words noticeable by dead air as in 5seconds of no narration at a scene/chapter shift.
The narrators attempt at a sort of Nordic English speaking accent is also a failure. Its consistent which is good but that also means its consistently wrong. 🙄🤣
Imagine the difference between the US and Canadian A sound and then apply that for nearly every letter or combination. Like for example the MC's name:
Einar > Narrator: I'Nar > Nordic: Ejnar. To make it sound correct with a US voice f.ex : hEY'NARly cut away the lower case letters and apply the ah sound instead of the ae sound to the A. So it would be Eynahr. And the R sound is short and not drawn out.
Being both a fluent English and Swedish speaker, having lived in Scandinavia/Nordics all my life, hearing people variously incapable of getting things right has been annoying. But when a professional narrator takes on the job and ultimately fails but still goes ahead, well that is another level in my opinion.
I really enjoy this series. A lot. My biggest complaint comes at the end with Gaut. You don’t hear from him for a few months and he goes from BFF to betraying Einar and a total villain? I don’t get the sudden change and there is no background to it. Yes, he was a bully before but they seemed to be past that and now suddenly he hates Einar again? Just a plot point that makes zero sense to me. Other than that it was intense and fun. Needing more!!

I’m even going to say it’s better than Level One. This story of the All Father recruiting an army ranger to become one of his champions was a fantastic read.
