The next books of the series! How I Built a Magic Empire (Book 5): How I Built a Magic Empire (Book 6): How I Built a Magic Empire (Book 7):
A lot happened on my visit to the capital of the Novgorod Empire, but my main business is still in the village that I now call home. Scratch out “village”. It’s a town already and things aren’t stopping there.
The wild lands have been on my mind. It’s time to do something about them. There’s only twenty kilometers from us to Los Santos and sooner or later we’ll have to deal with the stalkers ( bandits) who hang out there. I don’t like putting things off.
And who knows, while I’m there maybe I’ll find out more about the “Center”?
this is my review of the arc that I received. I am not going to base this review off of mistakes that I found because this is an advanced reader copy. and there were a bunch of mistakes. missing words from sentences or extra words in sentences. but everything that I found I made a list of and sent back to the publishers so it should be fixed if it hasn't been already. I rated this book purely off of my enjoyment for reading it. I like Kingdom building books, and I think this is a good one. we still have characters with stupid nicknames, but I think this is just something that is normal for web serials from Europe. I don't know that for a fact but I've run across so many books where the characters have dumb nicknames instead of actual names that it seems like a safe bet. other than that though the kingdom building part is very good. you also have monster hunting and it's different because it's not dungeons it's crystals and they like float around and release monsters and lead to fragments of other worlds that can be looted basically once you kill all the monsters that the crystal inside the crystal produces. I know sounds a little odd, but it's a fun read I enjoyed it and I hope you do too.
7/10 okay I am a little petty I took off half a star for all the mistakes I found. but that's just more for my aggravation than anything else.
I received a review copy of this book. How I Built a Magic Empire is the fourth book in this series, and while things are still happening, and the story is building up for a major confrontation, in this book, there's not a whole lot happening. The world building continues, we find some new allies, we discover some of the machenations behind the troubles plaguing the main character, but otherwise, the story is basically just a slice of a day in the life. No doubt, the parts are necessary for the later books in the series, but if you're not already well invested in this series, this book won't do much for you. I'm also a little puzzled where this book ended, typically, they end during or just before a major operation, and while this one hinted there's something big in the works, there wasn't really any hook for the next book in the series. Kind of odd that. But, nonetheless, the book is decent enough, it does fill in some of the gaps in the parts of the world we've seen already, so no need to skip it, but to be perfectly honest, it doesn't really inspire me to read more, though I'm likely to do so anyway, because I like this world, and would be interested in seeing where it goes, though I can easily see why that wouldn't appeal to some readers.
This installment was a lot of Magic Empire building. Some chapters were so slow I put it down. But a day or so later I would pick it back up again. It is a good read. You get the impressions of what Sharkey is doing; taking a horrible situation of living for his people and villagers and giving them hope, a life. A life well lived. A caveat: some portal progression, LITRPG books need a little more, shall I say, sense? Do not describe women as the “blonde” one or the “brunette” one. With “nipples”. Take a minute and give each a name. Does not matter that they are prostitutes. Do not be chauvinistic. It does not appeal to this woman reader. A really good read. I await the next book.
Another good addition to the series. There’s some solid character and world development here, and it feels like the author is setting the stage for what’s coming next. That said, there isn’t much of a build-up or major climax — it honestly feels like the story was cut in half right before something big was about to happen. Nothing huge really happens in this one, which makes it feel more like half a book than a full installment. Still, I enjoyed it and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where things go from here.
This is the first series I’ve read from a Russian author and I found it interesting for the most part. I enjoyed the world building and the characters. There are mistakes in the writing but that’s on the editor. The only other thing I had issues with was the mind numbing explanation of some things. Luckily there wasn’t too many. I’m looking forward to the next book
This book fleshed out the plot which was nice. Unfortunately, most of the book wasn't that interesting for me. Sharky is succeeding everywhere against all odds. He always knows best and sleeps with several women..
I think every reader needs to start doing this to force authors to write a quick Recap chapter, which readers can skip if they remember, and those who don't won't stop reading the series.
