With quick wit and a generous supply of jelly babies, can they convince the evil Count's pollutobomb creation to NOT explode and save the day? Find out in this uproarious tale that will have kids rallying behind Frog, Log, and Dave every step of the way.
My kids want Frog, Log & Dave (Almost Save the Day) every night. What a delightfully absurd and hilarious story.
Join an entrepreneurial frog, amiable log and kindhearted dog as they’re unwittingly caught up in Count Evil von Evil’s (Is he a stork? Pelican? Toucan?) pollution-y plot.
Will they save the day? Probs not. But someone might!
Highlights for a parent reader: the foreshadowing with the ‘typo’, suspension of disbelief (how does Excalivan still work after being fully submerged?), the villain’s dramatic ‘Evil Soliloquy Time’, plus all the nerdy references. The kids like it because it’s pacy, colourful and very reminiscent of a TV cartoon (probably also because of the jelly babies).
Brent Wilson as co-author and illustrator along with author Trent Jamison have smashed it out of the park. Love it!
Frog, Log and Dave Almost Save the Day is a very fun book. It plays like an episode of a cartoon I would have watched as a kid. The story starts with a bang, runs at a fun pace and ties up its loose ends with a satisfying conclusion. Character design is top-notch with an old-school vibe (think Danger Mouse or Hannah Barbera). Trent and Brent have crafted an engaging story — the writing is funny and slick and intelligent. There is something for kids and adults alike. Looking forward to the next one!
