Ms. Perry-Mondori is hard-pressed to prove that Caroline DeFauldo has deployed alternative facts in the effort to exonerate herself of murder charges, well before alternative facts were recognized as a thing.

Back then, it was called lying.

This is the first of, so far, three novels staring attorney, Karen Perry-Mondori. Several years ago she held a clinic in a mall and did a will for mousy Jack Palmer. Now he's calling her to defend him against murder and rape charges. The victims are a couple that Karen and her husband socialize with. The case against her client is pretty iron clad and all her friends are appalled that she would even think of defending him. The story was good but I couldn't really warm up to the Karen.

This is the first of a series about Karen Perry-Mondori. I enjoyed this one and have read the following two in the series.

Back Cover Blurb:
Jack Palmer stands accused of murdering the husband of a popular celebrity with whom he's having an affair. In spite of the mounting evidence against him, Karen Perry-Mondori, a young criminal defence attorney, agrees to defend him. Karen must find some clues before the case destroys them both.
