Don’t bring a kiss to a knife fight.

Roadkill. Violent. Brash. Obsessive. In the closet.

Clyde. Cunning. Ruthless. Biker royalty. Trapped on the other side of the same closet.

Roadkill.

I’ve hated Clyde Turner since the moment I laid eyes on him. I hate him for existing, for tempting me, for being everything I can’t have.

Ice-blue eyes, a cocky smirk that makes my fists itch, a damn Hell’s Butchers MC prince. I want him violently, but since I can’t have him, I will destroy him. I killed his f*cking brother, and he’s next.

When a fire traps us together, death feels inevitable. With no way out and nothing left to lose, we trade confessions like poison-laced promises.

I say I wish I’d f*cked him. Just to break him. Just to see disgust twist his perfect face.

His reply is like a bullet.

“I would have let you…”

Clyde.

I should’ve burned to death in that fire, because now my worst nightmare has come true. Roadkill knows. He knows the secret I’ve spent years burying beneath blood, alcohol, and loyalty to my club.

I have to kill him. There’s no other way.

But a knife fight leads to kisses and a deal struck in the dark. We’ll keep it quiet. No one needs to know. Enemies with benefits, nothing more. A stolen moment here, a touch there, with no strings and no club betrayal.

Until one of us is dead, I’ll let myself fall into his bed, and in the meanwhile, I’ll keep looking for the bastard who killed my brother.

The aftermath.

Nothing stays buried forever. Not secrets, not sins, and certainly not feelings. What starts as a forbidden tryst becomes something deeper. No matter how far we run, the shadows of our clubs and the weight of our hatred threaten to destroy us.

Some things you can’t come back from.

But that doesn’t stop us from one last kiss.

And then, just one more.

YESSSS. This was perfect. Hot, dangerous men entangled in a forbidden relationship.
A longing that’s been growing for years, fighting turns into fucking, ‘before I die’ confessions, a Romeo-and-Juliet-style romance with lots of sexy secret rendezvous and nail-biting angsty moments.

That’s right, Clyde. Call me. Message me. Let’s do it. Let’s do it fast and raw, without caring who we are.

Loved the enemies-with-benefits premise, the tension, the passion. These two were so mind-meltingly HOT together.
Loved that even if they were rough biker boys, they were so gentle and patient with each other, respecting each others limits. And loved how Roadkill was a badass big enforcer on the streets, but turned into a lovestruck puppy for Clyde.

He squeezes me tighter, and it’s as if he’s holding all the pieces of me together, so they no longer rattle around.

Super smutty biker boys with lots of feels and unexpected mushy moments, because even if they’re wrong for each other, they’re just meant to be.

Maybe I am transforming into a mushfest, but nobody needs to know that I worship the ground under Clyde’s feet.

And OMG, I need the next book to be about Creep, because I love me a creepy silent boy. He barely said two things the whole book, but I’m already in love.

I already knew this was going to be a banger, because whatever KA Merikan write I will be obsessed with. Can’t wait for more.

We’re two perfectly aligned serrated edges.

This is the first book in a new series and it sets up the series setting of Vulture Hollow beautifully.

This book was reminiscent of some of Merikan's Sex & Mayhem books I’ve read, but in the absolute best way. It’s like they took all the best parts (well my favorites anyways) of those books and put them all together in this new awesome way.

As other reviews have pointed out, there is a nod to Romeo & Juliet. I loved Brigid and I hope we get to learn more about her in future books because she seems super interesting.

I kept waiting for something annoying to happen, but it really didn't. Don't get me wrong they had plenty of challenges to overcome, but they were handled so well. This was a hard fought HEA and they really earned it.

I don’t really have any complaints about this book. This might be my favorite MC book of theirs (at least of the ones I’ve read).

I received an ARC of this book from GRR.

"I love you, Road. You're the best motherfucker I know. Give me one more kiss." He seems half-lucid, but his smile still makes my heart leap.

i loved Clyde. and Road. and did i mention Clyde??? i just wanna hug and protect him. 😭😭😭

i loved the first half with Clyde and Road being in this secret enemies with benefits situation and sending text messages to each other, they were so cute!! the second half was where shit went down and i was stressing bc they couldn't catch a break. i was lowkey scared with the confrontation towards the end (also why ), but i did like the ending and how certain things wrapped up. i also wouldn't mind if Prophet gets his own story in the future. he was intriguing. 👀

Road + Clyde 🖤
Rival motorcycle gang members | No kissing rule

This was a true enemies, to enemies with benefits, to lovers.
Big tough biker dudes who ended up loving cuddles and forehead kisses.
Their first time going all the way was one of the most beautiful first times I've ever read. A lot of healing and tenderness that you could feel.

....

"Maybe a mutual destruction agreement could be on the table? I don't need to like him to fuck him."

"If I never get to fuck him, I may start a fight every time I see him just for his touch."

"I'm such a fucking goner for this bastard."

"I'm not that gay," he scoffs and it's so dumb I can hardly comprehend it. My hand is still on his dick. He came under me. But a kiss is too much?"

"You'll take my cock in your mouth, but not my tongue?"
"Maybe I just don't want to kiss you? Maybe I think you're a piece of shit with a very hot and available body."

"I must look obscene with half of his dick in my mouth, lips stretched over the substantial girth. But he stares at me like I'm God's gift to him."

"He's so hot I wanna gnaw on his calf."

"No one's ever held me like this, especially not naked, and as I relax into his embrace, getting used to the warmth of his form, a sense of contentment settles over me."

"You feel... incredible. ... Oh fuck... I can feel your heartbeat inside me."

"Another soft kiss feels like it's touching something inside me, beneath the skin. He squeezes me tighter, and it's as if he's holding all the pieces of me together so they no longer rattle around."

"I want to make it a thing. Something special just for us.
Which is so f*cking sappy I want to punch someone to make sure I haven't gone soft."

"What the f*ck have I done? I should have let things go. I should have never let him get so deep under my skin. But it's too late now. He's already there, etching his way through every bit of me. No longer the enemy."

"I can't stop smiling. How did I not realize how nice it would be to have someone waiting for me like this, always ready to put their arms around me. I am a sap and a simp. So what?"

....

Romeo and Juliet but gay bikers and no one dies… well not the two MCs at least 😏

KA Merikan just does it for me. The intensity, passion, and emotion they pour into every book make each story feel epic. I loved the push/pull between Road and Clyde and how the struggles within their world and being gay were handled. I’m desperate for more in this series.

For the first 100 pages I thought it was going to be just another MC saga, same old and not much else happening with the main characters, but it pays to stick it out and continue reading, because the story gets better and better.

What I appreciated the most was the emotional intimacy Clyde and Road had, that's the one thing that really stood out, so two guys in a hard world finding each other and giving each other warmth, acceptance and tenderness.

🟣 Two rival MC clubs, Enforcer/Late president's brother
🔵 Both tough and strong, a bit of a size difference
🟡 Age 27/29 (30)
🟣 Enemies to lovers (enemies because they both desire each other but instead fight because they can't hook up)
🟢 Both gay but having sex with women because they can't really hook-up with men
🔵 Timespan - 10 years
🟠 Mentions of SA (off-page)
🌶️ Good smut, a lot of intimacy, 3 penetrative scenes, oral, frotting, rimming off-page, kissing, cuddling; excl t/b

From the moment Clyde and Road met and until present time about a decade later when they finally get together, they're basically enemies. Both from rival motorcycle clubs, always fighting each other and at one point almost dying together and that's where they admit to each other that they're gay and actually would want to hook up, but they only said it because they both thought they were gonna die.

They manage to get out of the situation and survive and Road takes the opportunity to get closer to Clyde, because Clyde is Road's long-time crush and he just can't get over him.

"His whole body is a work of art. If he were a motorcycle, he’d be one I couldn’t afford. I’d just have to take it. I’d always thought Clyde was a smug asshole who got everything served to him on a silver platter, but when I trail my tongue over his skin, I can’t help feeling that he does deserve it all."

Their moments together were intimate, emotional and passionate, I really loved it. It wasn't just mindless, quick sex, but these guys really, really liked each other and soon enough the loyalty they had for one another completely surpassed the loyalty for their clubs.

Both had troubled pasts and rough childhoods and found comfort with one another. They really took care of each other and when they get found out you're gonna get a little bit of angst, but it all really is resolved soon enough, so no break up, no terrible drama, they stick it out and stay together.

"“He will never sleep without me again. I’ll be making him my husband,” I say without thinking, but the comfort I feel the moment those words pass from my lips is impossible to describe. I’m at peace. Happy, even though I almost died last night."

What I would've liked is definitely for Road to not go back to being a prospect at the end or at least for them to completely update their house in that camp, all on-page.
Clyde also had a safe with a lot of his money and that doesn't get an epilogue, did he just lose it in that fire?

I would also have liked their wedding to happen in the book, since they're engaged and very serious about getting married, but I'm guessing that's to come in future books.

It's a good story and I Iiked the dialogues, the dynamic between the main characters and the setting, so I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment, my guess is it's going to be Creep that gets his man (is it the Prophet??).

This was amazing.

If you're looking for a gay Romeo and Juliet love story or perhaps we should call it Romeo & Romeo😉 with masculine, muscular, badass bikers, this is the story for you.

Roadkill and Clyde are on opposing sides, literally. They both belong to different gangs who have had beef for years and which has ramped up in the past few years due to Clyde's brother's death, who had been the president of the club at the time.

They've 'hated' each other for 10 years, but also have been secretly attracted to each other for just as long.

In a clash between the two MCs, both go down in what seems to be what will be their last moments alive. When Clyde asks if there's anything Roadkill regrets never having done in his life, he says he wishes he'd fucked Clyde. And Clyde? Well, Clyde admits that he would have let him.

But...they survive what they thought they wouldn't.

And with both of their MCs being highly homophobic (Clyde's more than Roadkill's, though) and the fact that they're literal enemies, both meant to fight for a different club, their want of each other has to be kept secret.

But they both know they want each other, it's out there and there's no going back. After they've recovered from their injuries at the beginning, they can't stay away from each other for long.

Tensions are high, but there's something about the other they can't stay away from. They also rationalize it first as it being mutually assured destruction, as they both have something to lose, something to hide from their prospective clubs. They'd keep the secret, keep each other's secret - that they're both gay - and they'd get to explore truly being with a man for the first time. They get to have sex they truly want with someone they're truly attracted to, and they can end it at any time and it'll be easy as they're enemies, right?

Well...

Of course they fall in love. But how can they be happy and together and out in their HEA by the end?

You'll just have to read it to find out.

I truly loved this one, it was one of these authors' best works in awhile. I couldn't get enough of this and absolutely devoured it from start to finish.

The chemistry between Road and Clyde was undeniable and sizzling. The forbidden aspect is one I absolutely eat up, and them being true enemies at first was delectable, especially seeing them go from enemies to lovers. To being so in love that all they wanted was each other, no matter what. Despite the danger all around them, despite that they might be killed by their clubs if they're relationship is found out.

There's also the fact that Roadkill... and that is definitely a source of tension - but also, is it as black and white as it seems? No. And I loved that.

It takes time for them to trust each other, but once they do, they don't hide things from each other, and they are it for each other. No one else will do for these two.

And no worries, they aren't with anyone else in this whole story and it is strictly monogamous between them. So do not worry about any of that going into this. They were with others previously to keep up appearances, but it's only talked about.

Also, TRIGGER WARNING: Road was previously Sexually Assaulted and Clyde was previously Raped NOT by each other YEARS before they get together, by other men. Those are also not written out or detailed, but they are talked about and described somewhat and dealt with. So just be aware of that going in.

That out of the way, they find comfort and safety with each other in ways they never were with anyone else. Seeing the consent between them, the eventual love and caring between them was beautiful.

This also has strict roles, no switching (which I personally loved) so be aware of that going in too. It was very hot and these two were delectable together.

Seeing these two badass bikers who can fuck a bitch up be so soft and vulnerable and loving with each other was wonderful, I couldn't get enough of it. They were each other's exception.

And the family they make along the way was great to see too. I cannot wait for more characters from this to get their own book. I'm not sure if Prophet and Creep will have a book together (there was a look Prophet gave Creep at one point so idk!) or have their own LI's, but either way I can't wait for their book (or books)! Like WHO exactly is this ONE man who has given Prophet head over the years? I'm definitely greatly intrigued! So many possibilities for future romances in this new MC world, and I can't wait!

Definitely pick this up when it comes out, you will NOT be disappointed. Especially if you love this author duo, because this one will NOT let you down. It's peak, true to form K.A. Merikan. Couldn't get enough of it!

Until the next one! 😘

Other person drama: neither have any thought of being with anyone else in this book. There are references to their past hookups with women. And things they've done with men, but none of the stuff they did with men before was truly consensual, as it was between the ages of 14 and 17, and it was traumatizing to them.

4 stars

Roadkill is 29. Clyde is 27. They are bikers in rival motorcycle clubs. They have interacted with each other and fought for the past 10 years. They are both gay but they are in the closet. They both have traumatic pasts. Roadkill left an abusive home at 14 and lived on the streets doing sex work to get by (which is really CSA given his age), until he got taken in by the biker gang. Clyde was raised in a prosperous biker gang, the son of one of the leaders, but his family was abusive to him. At 17 he tried to hook up with a guy, but ended up beat and raped, so he has complex feelings about what he wants. Roadkill is the enforcer for his biker gang, so he takes out the trash a lot. Recently, Roadkill killed Clyde's brother, but he doesn't know it was him. This has ramped up the tension between their biker gangs. During a clash, a bomb is set off and Roadkill and Clyde very nearly die trapped together. As they're about to die, Roadkill confesses that his regret is he would have liked to have f***** Clyde. And Clyde replies that he would have let him. They pass out.

They are shocked to wake up in the hospital, alive. They both take months to recover. And when they do they seek each other out. Roadkill wants that f***. And Clyde wants to kill Roadkill to keep the secret of his sexuality. They end up falling into enemies with benefits arrangements, mutually assured destruction, they are a safe person for the other one to experiment with sexually. They both been obsessed with each other for 10 years though and as they spend time together it quickly isn't just sex. But now even though they want to be more, their relationship is forbidden and it would be a betrayal of their loyalties if they came out as a couple. They face some danger.

This was actually a surprisingly sweet story. Of course it was dark, traumatic, and sad. But these characters were so gone on each other, they both thought the other person was the bee's knees. They had such reluctant fondness for each other. They treasured each other, took comfort in them, and held / snuggled the other close and just breathed them in. They both liked rough sex at times, but they were slow and patient with each other and they were comparatively vanilla. It packed an emotional punch. They had a tough go of things to be together, but they fit together so well and were committed. I loved Roadkill being a cat daddy.

This book has got me really invested in the side characters. I'm not usually the type of person who likes too much time spent in a book promoting future stories in the series. I wouldn't say the authors spent a lot of time on the side characters but they had such personality conveyed and they were endearing. I'm actually really looking forward to other stories in this series. I hope that Rooster, Creep, and Prophet get their own books.

Some notable moments:

"I still can’t believe I’m doing this in the first place. Is fucking a guy who doesn’t even know how to spell ‘tonight’ really worth all this effort? Practically risking my life?"

I am so weak for cuddling. "Road smirks before pressing his nose to mine. “I’ll get something to clean us up,” he says and eases off me. I grab his waist and pull him close. “Wait. Or… I mean, unless you need to,” I mumble, embarrassed by the technicality of the aftermath when all I want is a cuddle."

"“I’m not ‘sensitive’. I just didn’t want to lose all of you, and how would I know how you’d react if I told you?” Prophet gestures toward Clyde. “It would be an easier pill to swallow if it wasn’t Clyde fucking Turner. Were there no other gays within a fifty-mile-radius?”"

"But no. Creep decides to speak up, so I brace myself. “I am a homosexual too,” he says, dark eyes wide, lips in a tight line, and while for a moment I believe he’s mocking me, the tension in his body reveals that yes, he is that awkward about this."

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

I really enjoyed this one!

I love MC books but it’s hard to find safe ones so I rarely read them anymore but this one was so good!! I was engaged from the very first page and it was hard for me to put it down.

This is a true enemies to lovers, like they’ve tried to kill each other type enemies. I liked that their story wasn’t a slow burn. It burned fast from the first page.

I loved the characters!! Loved these guys so much. While they fought a good amount, they fought for each other even harder. They kept wondering how they were going to make it work and I was honestly wondering the same thing for a good amount of the book. And when they weren’t fighting they were honestly so sweet together. These tough bikers who were able to be open and vulnerable with one another like they aren’t with the guys in their clubs. I loved it. Roads obsession with Clyde was great!! He knew no bounds when it came to him!! But the eventual mutual obsession was even better!! Oh man these guys were so in love with each other they didn’t even want to live without the other one!!

I also enjoyed the plot line, I was definitely interested in what was going on.

There’s not much OW drama aside from Clyde kind of flirting with some girl because he had to keep up appearances. She touches his stomach and stuff but he’s not interested this was before he and Road got together. Another is when they had their break up Road got super drunk and woke up hoping there wasn’t a woman in his bed, he also said he was dancing with some club girls and let some girl sit on his lap. But this is all told and not shown. Still not my fav though.

Ever wanted a dark, gay retelling of Romeo and Juliet, set in the world of two warring motorcycle clubs? Say no more, as your prayers have been answered! I absolutely loved this brutal, gritty romance and am so thankful to the authors for the chance to read an ARC!

Roadkill is the enforcer of the Vulture Hollow MC; they have been at war with the Hell’s Butchers for years, especially after their prez, Roy Turner, was murdered… but when Road is trapped in a burning building with Clyde Turner, Roy’s brother and Hell’s Butcher member, their impending doom forces them to come clean… that they’re both gay and have found each other attractive for years. After all, might as well die with all your cards on the table, right?

This poses a problem then both of them are pulled from the wreckage and survive. What follows is a brutal enemies-to-lovers forbidden romance that forces the two men to sneak around behind their club’s backs as their lust for each other grows ever stronger.

I loved both Clyde and Road - both have suffered atrocious childhoods and sought solace in the opposing clubs. They are both broken and so desperate to be loved, despite the very real chance it could mean death for both of them. They both are brutal and violent but oh, so sweet with each other. The angst in this book is high and the HEA incredibly hard-won. I just loved it!

Enemy is a dark romance, so make sure to check the trigger warnings first - there is gore, death plus references to past childhood SA, all of which motivate the characters to make the choices they do.

Read Enemy for:
✨ Enemies to lovers
✨ Forbidden romance
✨ Rival motorcycle clubs
✨ Dark romance
✨ Gay Romeo & Juliet (with HEA!)
✨ Found family
✨ Overcoming traumatic pasts
✨ Cats & chickens!

Thanks to the authors and GRR for an ARC of this book! It’s out on 17th April 🖤

This was a lot better than I anticipated. Going in, I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed by K.A Merikan and they truly didn’t disappoint. This ATE in every possible way.

The enemies to lovers was spot on and it hit all the marks. What I wasn’t expecting was the emotional angst and the trauma Clyde and Roadkill were packing nor the swoon worthy fluffy romance between this two whenever they were together. The little things they did in secret. 🥹🥹 Snuggling, the heart to heart conversations—Roadkill wanting to make something for Clyde. They were awfully cute, and so sweet to each other. Their over protectiveness for each other was just, goals.

I wasn’t sure how we would navigate the whole arc of Roadkill unaliving Clyde’s brother or how Clyde will take the news when he finds out the truth. But it all came together in the end and it made so much sense.

I chose this cos K.A. Merikan has never let me down and the blurb was 🔥

Don’t bring a kiss to a knife fight.

Good god , the characters names are quite unsexy 🤣 Roadkill and Clyde.

Vulture Hollow MC. Vs Hell’s Butchers MC

I’m not to sure what side I’m on? 🤣 The culture of the vultures is all about the occult , it’s a little out there.

“He might be facing away, but I would have recognized the pale braid hanging down his back, and that round ass, anywhere. There’s no one in the world I hate more.”

“He loses balance, and when his braid falls across my face, I’m sensing smoke, and whiskey, and all that nice, masculine shit. I got a whiff of him when we got in a fight last year, and it’s been on my mind in all types of unwanted ways. But the scent of his hair won’t stop me from covering him in a layer of bruises.”

They think they are about to die so admit they totally would’ve fucked each other.

There is a lot of hating and wanting and orgasms.

They have a burner phone to communicate. Road has it bad for Clyde.

‘Too bad I can’t drift off to fantasy land on my own, or text Clyde just for the blue balls of it.’

When they are secretly alone together , they are open and playful and kinda adorable.

‘I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him, in case there’s no tomorrow. “Stay off that road today, okay? …Babe?” He sighs, but before I can open my eyes to check what expression he’s making, I hear a soft ‘ “okay,” and then I’m once again silenced by his tongue.’

Road and Clyde are torn between loyalty to their club ,their brothers and their desire for each other. Their clubs absolutely hate each other, are on the precipice of going to war .

‘I can’t always have this phone on me. But I wanna hear from you. I wanna hear… you. We’ll make it work.” Just carve me open and slice my heart into pieces while you’re at it. What did I get myself into? I was never like this with anyone I was sleeping with. Possessive, greedy, and out of control.’

They kinda have a date on Roads birthday that ends in a bar brawl with some homophobic assholes. They make love for the first time but then Clyde learns Roads secret and is heartbroken.

‘How could I have ever imagined I’d mean more than his club? I was a love-drunk idiot, buying him cupcakes and sharing the most intimate parts of me as if I completely forgot who we are at our cores. He will always be a Vulture, and I’ll always be a Butcher. We never had a future to begin with.’

Lots of action and scenes from a gay Romeo and Juliette play.

Anyway the vultures are our Mc club, the butchers can go kick rocks and die.

Now that the Vulture community knows about Road and Clyde , all the gays are coming out of hiding 🤣

Road doesn’t hesitate to put a ring on it .

“Clyde, I love you, okay? That’s what you deserve. For someone to fucking follow you into the line of fire and keep you safe.”

***ARC Review***

This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC I received.

This is a dark romance. It’s gritty and complex. Road and Clyde are viscous enemies that attempt to maim and unalive one another any and every chance that they can get. A life or death situation unexpectedly bonds them and certain secrets come to light. Neither MC can tolerate the other knowing their truth, so they arrange a fight to the death. Only something else happens and the pair find themselves suddenly enamored with one another.

There is a ton of tension, violence, aggression, and resistance in this book. There are also nods to loyalty, family (both blood, biker, and found), and putting allegiances over self. I really enjoyed the mounting push and pull dynamic between Road and Clyde. Both men have to figure out a comfortable way to let the other in, as well as, share their vulnerabilities once they establish a physical (and eventually emotional) connection with one another.

This story does read like a much grittier version of Romeo & Juliet. Each MC belongs to a respective motorcycle club that has been at odds for quite some time, and they eventually enter into a secret relationship. I appreciate the progression of the MCs relationship from strike/hit first to trusting one another and finding a safe place to land in the other. I’m definitely a fan of their softer side (as much as they allow themselves to be) with one another. This book will keep you on your toes from start to finish! It’s a wild ride. You should definitely check out the trigger warnings for this one, because there are some topics or themes that may concern you.

Things get heated for the MCs, but don’t worry, they manage to find a way to grab their hard-fought HEA.

Check this book out when it releases on April 17th.

First, I would like to say that I held off on reading this for quite some time because the guy on the cover had such a punchable face, and you don’t even see it head on. What in the Draco Malfoy is that stringy haired thin lipped mess? And because I am shallow and vain (clearly), it took me a while to wash that image of a Clyde out of my head.

I liked this book, it was sweet watching these closeted men discover themselves when they finally decided to accept their sexuality. I thought in the end, they owed the MC a bit more of an explanation as to why they killed that guy. But overall, enjoyed the book.

As members from rival motorcycle clubs, Roadkill, a.k.a. Road, and Clyde Turner are enemies but when a fire traps them in a building their truths cannot be unsaid.

“But just to be clear, we’re not ‘buddies’ now. I don’t like you, and you don’t like me. We’ll just be… two bodies. Two people who need something.”

Narrated in dual POV, the secret bringing Road and Clyde together ignites tremendous palpable sexual tension. The excitement they feel for each stolen moment is contagious as they experience what it is like to act on their attraction.

With a significant conflict between the MC clubs, true colors were shown and it accentuates the solid characters of Road and Clyde. For me, they were both entertaining and pretty lovable. Additionally, their path together felt realistic as there were consequences for certain actions, albeit, they were justified. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

A Joyfully Jay review.

5 stars

Enemy is a standalone enemies-to-lovers story from the writing duo K.A. Merikan. Our two main characters are both key figures in their respective motorcycle clubs and the fact that both their clubs and the men themselves regard one another as mortal enemies keeps the tension ratcheted up eleven for nearly the entire book. The way the narrator switches from chapter to chapter between Roadkill and Clyde also reinforces the animosity and really showcases how the relationship between the MCs develops over time.

I’ve gone through four of the five books in K.A. Merikan’s Wrong Side of the Tracks series and I loved how they paired motorcycle club men with various non-club people, with each couple becoming ride-or-die for each other.

In short, this was a fantastic and incredibly steamy read. If you’re a fan of K.A. Merikan’s work, I cannot recommend this story highly enough. If you’ve never tried dark romance before but don’t mind some violence and gore, this may be a great intro to the genre for you.

Genre: MM Romance
Type: Standalone Book 1 of Vulture Hollow
POV: First Person- Dual
Rating:
4.25 Stars

The tension between the rival MCs Hell’s Butchers and Vulture Hollow escalated after the former’s president was killed. Clyde Turner was hellbent on revenge, but a life-or-death encounter with Roadkill, his enemy’s enforcer, unearthed repressed desires that could destroy everything they lived for.

I loved how their relationship started and how it unfolded. Road was bold and knew what he wanted, while Clyde was more cautious. Their backgrounds added humanity to their characters.

I want this. I want him. And he wants me. Nothing simpler in the world.

I enjoyed the various supporting characters, even though in the beginning, it could be confusing with the large number of characters from both sides. The plot was engaging and I liked the side stories which added depth to the overall narrative.

Enemy is a story of family, loyalty, and unexplored desires. It would appeal to readers who enjoy enemies-to-lovers MM romance.

Pleasantly Surprised.

I don't like biker books. I don't like books where there are strict top/bottom roles, especially if one of the MCs has a more dominant personality. I don't like books with a lot of physical violence. I don't like books where there are a lot of side characters and side plots developing for potential spinoffs...

But I loved this book!

What I made all the other stuff okay for me is the relationship between the MCs. It's super sweet and tender, totally not what you'd expect in this world of a gritty, rival motorcycle club that's always trying to kill one another. They respect each other's boundaries sexually even if they stab each other in fights the next day. They are both learning "how to be gay" with one another, and it's adorable.

I was totally bought into their love story and wanted to see how it ended, so I was was able to read past all the other stuff I didn't care anything about. But, if you DO like biker stories and gritty settings, then you'll probably double/triple love this book.

Enemy biker gang members admit to each other in their final moments alive that they totally would have hooked up. Except when they wake up NOT dead…this complicates things. Roadkill and Clyde soon fall into a mutually beneficial ‘enemies with benefits’ situation. But with things heating up between their MCs and a dark secret, sh*t hits the fan!

You’ll get:
-secret relationship
-MC enemies to lovers
-‘No kissing’ (does not last long haha)
-violence!

This book got tender and sappy way faster than I expected, and there are a lot of cute texts and stolen moments between the characters. Though I didn’t quite find myself sucked into the actual story, the dynamic was interesting and the characters do somehow get their HEA.

No one can do a motorcycle club romance like these two. This was excellent. Clyde and Road were the perfect mix of tough biker and sweet, protective cinnamon rolls. This book had good pacing with a slow burn that turned into more with each secret meet up. It also had a good amount of action and violence that kept things outside of the romance plot interesting. The authors did a great job once again and I can’t wait for this series to continue. I know it will be a good one.

With chemistry, drama, trauma, violence, and more this story goes all in on enemies to lovers with shades of Romeo and Juliet. Add in extra mayhem and peril from the MCs being members of rival gangs and you get sparks and darkness galore, plus interesting characters and some intriguing world-building. This was a good read overall. I really enjoyed the premise, though it did get slightly too dramatic and unrealistic with the Romeo-Juliet concept for my taste. Hence the four stars. But all in all, an immersive read.

Romeo & Juliet but they’re both butch bikers 🖤

Another winner from K.A. Merikan feat. their brand of dark humor, MC violence and surprisingly sweet tough guys. The hippie commune-like MC setting is cozy and Road and Clyde were adorable together. They went through a lot to get their HEA but it was so romantic how fiercely loyal they were to each other

Hot and action-packed

This book was so hot and super action-packed. I have to say I hate how one mcs nickname is roadkill. Learning how he got it makes it a bit better. I had been looking for something Spicer and this book hit just right. Can't wait to start book 2
