A classified ad written as a joke is the catalyst for the striking of a bargain...
Charlotte has unlimited travel benefits to offer in return for the extra income she needs to pay for her elderly father's care...and Seth has a thriving business which costs nearly as much in travel expenses as he earns.
That's how two people who vow to never tie the knot find themselves in the back seat of a pink convertible at a drive-thru wedding chapel saying, "I do!"
But when they actually start falling head over heels in love--neither one knows what to do. Can they make this love work?
Sandra D. Bricker was an entertainment publicist in Los Angeles for more than 15 years, where she attended school to learn screenwriting and eventually taught the craft for several semesters. She became a best-selling, award-winning author of Live-Out-Loud Fiction for the inspirational market, authored books such as the Jessie Stanton novels, and was best known for her Emma Rae Creation series. Over the years, as an ovarian cancer survivor, she spent time and effort toward raising awareness and funds for research, diagnostics, and a cure. Sandra lived in Toledo, Ohio before her passing in 2016.
The idea of how the couple get together was new, but then in the end same tired formula, girl meets boy falls madly in love, couple part each being in love but deny it, some reason for a break up then get back together and live happily ever after. Tired and extremely stupid and old, so too bad
This book at times had me laughing out loud which can be inconsiderate to your husband if he is trying to sleep. This is the story of a young woman who works for an airline company and is traveling to her best friend's wedding in Las Vegas!
I've enjoyed several of Bricker's novels, but this was disappointing. Full of cheesy romance cliches, and I actually found myself laughing at some of the lines.
Disappointed. for I was looking for a rom-com book to read and when I read a review by a reader stating she laughed so much, I thought to myself, "This was the book for me". I was wrong. Not a single laugh was had. The other reader who reviewed it must have been on meds. There was so much wrong with this book that I just felt like it was work to get through.
The main character Charlotte is supposed to be romantically jaded and yet in less than 24 hours she claims to be in love a man she just met? I couldn’t fall for that. Then Seth who is also supposed to be jaded and more level headed is also suddenly infatuated with someone he just met. Where is the buildup and the gradually falling in love part? How am I the reader supposed to fall in love with the characters and their romance if I’m not given time to build up to it? It was just way too simplistic and silly.
I wasn’t happy with the writing style ether as scenes would suddenly shift with no indication of a break to let you know that you were moving from one scene to another. At one paragraph I’m in a hotel room with Charlotte and Seth and the next paragraph we are at Seth’s apartment with no mention in the previous paragraph that they were heading there. Not to mention all the unnecessary commas all over the place.
I wanted the slow burn and good nature romance with some small obstacle and growth that the Never the Bride series by Sandra D. Bricker has and the built up romance and humor I found in The Wedding Pact series by Denise Grover Swank. What I got was a derivative story that conjured up no emotions from me. A good book should make you feel something but this book left me feeling unimpressed. This is not a book I would recommend to anyone I know. I just wasn't this story's target audience.
I enjoyed this, it was a cute read. I thought the ending was weak. It’s kind of like it was rushed at the end. She didn’t give him much of an explanation of what Angelica did. It kind of just jumped from them reconciling to them having a baby. Would’ve liked an epilogue. Something more into the future.
I have loved every book I have read by Sandra D. Bricker and this one is no exception. This was such a fun story that took me on a bit on an emotional roller coaster ride. The characters were so likeable. I would definitely recommend this book.
I love a story that that draws you in and makes you feel the emotions the characters are feeling. Easy read, holds your attention and is suitable for most everyone.
The characters, as well as, the story line were well developed. An easy read, one not overshadowed by sex. Yet love was well portrayed and of course a HEA ending.
This is a feel good novel about a very unlikely marriage with a very unlikely couple. Seth and Charlotte meet on a plan traveling to Vegas when they come up with a marriage plan that will benefit both parties. Things go awry when they fall in love.
Wanted: a romance novel with lots of steamy romance. Passionate kisses are a great tease...but that's all. Sandra D. Bricker's novel is a fun, quick read. The plot is a little predictable, but worth getting to the end. You have to wait until the end for the steamy romance - but what you'll get is the result of the steam, not the steam itself.

Unwanted Husband is a short romance by Sandra D. Bricker. It is a cute book and easy to read. It makes a quick read to simply entertain. Charlotte Dennison is happy with her reservations job at Globe Airlines. She has a plan to work there for a while and travel and then to make her move to rise in the company. Meanwhile, she is happy to work and travel. She is also happy to be without a man in her life- other than her father. She was married but it didn’t work out so she has sworn off marriage. The only problem is she does not make enough money to keep her father in the nursing home she has him in. They are raising their prices and she is just making it now and doesn’t want to put him in another home. Her friend at Glove came up with the idea of putting an ad in for a husband; but one in name only. Her idea is to find someone who travels a lot and could use a discount on tickets like Globe gives the family members of their employees. Charlotte could have him pay her $1000 a month for the benefit Globe would give him. That would pay for her father’s increased expenses. Besides being against company policy, it goes against Charlotte’s conscience. She tells her friend this as she is putting the last of her things together to leave for Las Vegas to be maid of honor for her best friend. Her work friend puts the ad in her bag. Seth Pruitt is headed for Las Vegas too. His best friend is getting married. He begins talking to Charlotte on the plane and they find they can easily talk to each other. Seth is an architect who is trying to find investors for a concept he has in mind. Meanwhile, he hopes to work for others and pad his portfolio. The problem is that it keeps him traveling and that gets expensive. What he doesn’t tell Charlotte is that he is against marriage too. He had an episode with a lady that broke his heart and he isn’t ready to expose it again. When Charlotte gets her purse out of her bag to go to the restroom, the note her friend put in her bag falls out. By the time she returns, Seth is very angry. He thinks she left it on purpose and that she has picked him out to scam. Equally irritated, Charlotte doesn’t speak to him for the rest of the trip. The next morning, following a late night, Charlotte is awakened by her friend, Dyann who is eager for Charlotte to meet her fiancé and his best man. To Charlotte’s utter dismay, the best man is Seth Pruitt!
Very good book. Enjoyed freshness of plot and characters. Ended up wishing it was a large book and much longer developed plots. Easily could be major book/movie. Adult subject, clean and void of vulgar language.
I finished this book only because I paid my 99¢ for it, and I hate to be wasteful. This is the sort of romance novel that gives romance novels a bad name. Predictable hardly covers it. Unbelievably trite comes close.
I've never read a book by Sandra Bricker that I didn't love--this one included. My only complaint is that it ended a little abruptly. But, it was a fun read.
Some of it was predictable but I found that Bricker could find some twists and turns to keep my interest piqued. Not too complicated and some very romantic chapters.
