The charming cookbook featuring all the recipes from SBS TV's Poh & Co.
Inspired by her Chinese-Malay heritage and classic Aussie favourites, Poh's latest book is a unique take on the universally yummy things we all love - noodles, dumplings, bagels, salads, puddings, pasta and cakes. Shot entirely on location in Poh's own kitchen, it's personal and generous, warm and wicked, an exciting mix of signature dishes and family classics - it's Same Same but Different.
Features 100 recipes 'Bite-Sized Spice' (Kunyit Fried Chicken/Curry Puffs), 'Salty-Sweet' (Poached Chicken & Pineapple Salad/Savoury Fruit Salad), 'Something Wobbly' (Creme Caramel/Steamed Egg tofu with Century Egg Salad), 'Sour Power' (Kimchi/Basic Chinese Pickles) ... and many more recipe pairs that share a process, ingredient or texture.
I'm kicking myself now. I actually went to a launch event for this cookbook, but didn't buy it (and have it signed) at the time because when I flipped through it I thought there weren't really enough recipes that I would bother to try. This despite the fact that it contains the recipe for one of the most adventurous and unusual dishes I have ever cooked - abacus beads p44. So it wasn't until watching the series Poh & Co and then seeing it for sale for $20 at Dymocks that I thought I'd give it another look. It has some fantastic recipes, many of which were featured on the tv show! Now I can't wait to make the abacus beads again, and to try some of the others.
Poh's book is a combination of French, Italian and Asian cuisines although majority of it is Asian-- I love it! I just hope the pages are softer to flip..Overall, great recipe book..I just love POH Ling Yeow!!
