Fox Among Wolves

Rate this book
Ginny’s dad had great advice about facing devils head on. ‘Think about the worst thing that could happen and figure out why you’re afraid. Get past that and the rest is easy.’ There was no doubt about her worst fear. Alone in a house with six men, all of whom had just ogled her naked body, it was a complete no-brainer. When Ginny’s Saturday night bath is interrupted, and her uncle’s house is invaded by the supposed victims of a car crash, the outcome might appear predictable. But nothing is as expected, including the uncle she thought she knew. Ginny endures their attentions as each one is distracted from their covert task, but she seems to have fallen for the rottenest apple in this particular barrel. With a spicing of international intrigue, blackmail and a bent ex-soldier, Ginny needs every ounce of wit and courage to survive the long weekend of simmering tensions. This romantic suspenseful military thriller will appeal to readers who like edgy heroes, ruthless villains and feisty heroines in constant danger.

Title: Which one is the fox?
Rowanna Green's “Fox Among Wolves”

It is not often that I come across a book where I am unsure where exactly I stand on it at the end, but Rowanna Green’s novel, “Fox Among Wolves” has managed to do it. This novel was probably one of the most action-packed books that I have ever read, but I am still unsure if that is a good or a bad thing. It seems as though Green’s main focus was on creating amazing and explosive scenes, instead of character and plot development.

The plots and subplots themselves are enough to keep the reader on his or her toes, so I was never bored while reading through the chapters themselves. However, the novel was a little confusing to follow at times and hard to get into. There are so many characters with different names and nicknames to keep track of and the reader is left in the dark for so long about what the plot is actually about. Due to the lack of character development, I found some of the characters – particularly Ginny – hard to believe. And while I understand that the author’s intentions was to keep the reader just as confused as Ginny, when strange men show up at her door, I wish I had been given more information than the characters had access to.

Aside from a few technical errors, “Fox Among Wolves” was a fairly enjoyable read. Once I was able to keep track of who each character was, I found myself turning through the pages, wondering what would happen next.

I give “Fox Among Wolves” three out of five stars.

Cheers!

Heart Invasion – A review of the novel ‘Fox Among Wolves’

“You often meet your fate on the road you take to avoid it” - Goldie Hawn

In Author Rowanna Green’s novel ‘Fox Amongst Wolves’ we find out about Ginny whose life turns on its head after the strange events of a lone night. When her bath gets interrupted late one night due to the appearance of some strangers in her home asking for assistance, little does she realize then the enormity of this situation. Ginny soon finds out the many secrets that her family holds, especially concerning her ex-military uncle. In between she also has to find a delicate way out of the mess the six men have brought into her life. And it doesn’t help at all when she falls for one of them.

When you read the synopsis on the back of the book, your mind automatically braces itself to the kind of setting and the language that this book is going to employ based on your experiences with other military thrillers. But barely a couple of pages into the book and you will be blown away by the prose and the flow of the narrative. It unabashedly portrays sensuality in every line and the seductive interplay between Ginny and Rick will leave you wanting more. The chapter headings tell you exactly what you can expect in them and they are written in a concise and precise manner, meaning you will start and finish them and move on to the next one very quickly. Rowanna Green writes with such gay abandon and freedom that she is able to seamlessly weave intricate plot lines with off-beat humor and portray calmness in her characters while they face grave adversity in a natural manner. The author keeps pushing newer information into your midst even before you can theorize about what is going to happen next, leaving you guessing about the end right from the start.

The character of Ginny is a definite star and is someone who deserves more follow up adventure stories, she's desirable and yet underestimated by many which makes her a very exciting character to read about. Readers who love intense, intriguing and somewhat twisted dark romances should not miss this book.

Rowanna Green has done it again! I'm absolutely in love with all of her stories, and now 'Fox Among Wolves' has joined its place with her other fantastic novels.

I love the characters that Ms. Green creates. I always find myself wanting to be best friends with her female characters and honestly, I fall in love with all of her male characters. Her newest cast is no exception. I've heard rumors of a sequel and I hope it is true, because I would love to pick back up with these characters. Especially if my favorite character gets more time with the mike.

Fox is a great read and a fun ride. 'Death Wishes' is still my absolute favorite of Ms. Green's work, but I see reflections of Jo's attitude in the clever Ginny. Here we find a young protagonist dealing with a rather overwhelming situation, but doing it with humor and grace. There may be a great supporting cast of male characters, but Ginny is a very smart woman and not tricked by the situation going on around her. She will accept some help from the guys around her, but she isn't some fainting heroine who can't handle herself.

A great read and fantastic plot. It deserves it spot on my shelf with the other fabulous works of Ms. Green.

What a story! This suspenseful story was not a 'light' read but sure keeps you on your toes. I was very surprised that there was some romance tossed into this story that seemed to fit right in. I was surprised at that given that the heroine let six strange men into her house. No woman would really do that no matter what their story was.

I liked the main characters a lot. Actually all of the characters where terrific. I liked the way the men on the 'team' were portrayed as skilled, dedicated team members as well as compassionate men. I did find it hard to tell who was a good guy and who was a bad guy. They kept changing as the story went on and some where both good and bad guys!

While I did like the characters, I found the story line hard to follow because there was so much going on all the time.

I was given a complementary copy in exchange for my honest review.

Fox Among Wolves was my first read by Rowanna Green. I enjoyed this book, however I found it a little harder to follow than a book written by someone in my own country. A bit of a language barrier for me. Fox Among Wolves is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

This is not a badly written book. However, I feel no connection with the characters. The dialog is long and dry in my opinion. I may try a reread at a later date.

Our heroine is suddenly and unexpectedly host to six men with a hidden agenda. She has no idea what is going on or how much trouble she is in, but she is going to keep her wits about her at all costs. Of course, there are six major distractions in the way.

This is book one of the series, so no issues there.

This is a romantic suspense story with a heavy emphasis on action and intrigue. The story is very well written with a complex plot that takes a bit of concentration to get through occasionally. Fortunately, that is made easier by a well developed cast of characters that bring the story to life with their distinct personalities and solid backstories. There is a lot of intrigue in the story as we try to puzzle out the real motives of everyone involved, plus a fair amount of action. We also get the occasional bit of steam, which doesn't hurt my feelings at all. Overall, I found the story to be highly engaging, hard to put down and very enjoyable. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Highly recommended.

I read this book as part one of a three book set. I would describe the entire set as an extended set of romances wrapped up in a very confusing investigation. The main character in this book is Ginny, the niece of a wealth, ex-military manufacturer of security systems. Most of the characters who will take part in this trilogy are introduced in this book, but none of them can be taken at face value. Members of the military work undercover to uncover a mole seeking to sell security secrets to terrorists. The characters tend to be one-dimensional caricatures of specific types. The action takes place in Great Britain, so the book contains many Brit idioms. The book ends one phase of the story, and leads into the next book in the "Hostage" series.

Overall, an entertaining read, to which I'd give 3.5 stars. I think readability was hampered by the glut of similar characters that forced their way into the heroine's country cottage. Also, the reader was kept in the dark as to the motive behind the home invasion until quite late into the book. Curiosity kept me going, but I felt I would have enjoyed the book more could I have charged through it in one go. If you're about to get on a long flight and can read it all in one sitting, there may be less confusion. Still, FAW is a plot-driven, page-turner that has you wanting to know what happens next and who the bad guy really is. For that, it's a fun read that doesn't disappoint on suspense!

A 3.5 Rating
The story was interesting but a little bit hard to follow for me. The story was good, the characters were interesting. This is the first book in this series so I hope the next one will be a bit better laid out. This is my first time reading this author and I will give it try again on their next novel.

Wow! Kudos to Rowanna Green. just finished the 2017 edited version of the book.
As a reader it kept my attention, kept me guessing until the climax of the story.
Could not find one negative comment to say about it start to finish.
If twists & trills along with a sprinkling of sexual tension hit your spot.
This will do nicely.

Too confusing

Impossible to follow. The writing was awkward and never flowed. Too many. Characters introduced too quickly. This plot was more suited to a thirty minute television episode.

😕

I made it to chapter 5 before giving up. Maybe I didn't give it enough time but I really couldn't grasp the flow of the story, none of the characters appealed to me and that made it more difficult to read. Just not my cup of tea.

Fox among wolves???

I don't know about a 'fox' but this book began with a stupid woman answering her door, a door, I might add, to a house in the middle of nowhere, in a bathrobe...fresh from the bath. Then she lets not one, not two but six strange men in! WTF??? It was obviously a ruse and the men were obviously some kind of military BUT how stupid can one woman be??? Sorry but I couldn't get past 10%. I'm into military, suspense, thrillers and romance but I need the book to begin realistically at least...with decent characters. It might've been an alright book!? Who knows??? Glad it was free!

A fast paced and gripping thriller novel with a military theme, this is my first Rowanna Green book and I will definitely be adding more to my reading list. I really loved the way the plot played out with plenty of suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I also liked Rowanna's style of writing. She really brings her characters to life by creating interesting back stories and strong emotional connections to her leads.

I received this book free in exchange for my honest review. I loved it and couldn't put it down once I started reading it. The things that Ginny has to go through while her Uncle is in the hospital and the attraction that she has with Rick even after all the lies and deceiving that has gone on while they are at her Uncles home under false pretenses. You will love all the excitement that goes on and the to find out who in the team is a traitor.

Fox Among Wolves is a fast paced book which kept me on my toes. Ginny is a totally believable character, well brought up, educated, and theoretically street smart. And this combination makes the bizarre situation believable, and leaves you guessing as to who really are the Good guys and who are the Bad guys....in turn you suspect all of them. A totally convulated tale which makes you want to read it in one sitting to work it all out and get to the bottom of it. On the whole a great read!

it was really good and i like that the main girl, Ginny, was also smart and helpful and helping the team and not always being saved from everything.
However due to the copy i had it was harder to read and understand as there was large spaces between every line so i didnt know when a paragraph finished or started and other things. So i had to reread it to understand it but over it was really good.

Fox Among Wolves grabs your attention from the start with a powerful and suspenseful opening chapter which sets the scene and expectations for the remainder of the book. Part romance, all thriller I managed to finish it over two days which is something I haven't done in a long while.
