This was such a great read for me. I LOVED the dynamic between Jake and Lexi. They were an enjoyable couple with lots of heat which I absolutely love. I look forward to reading more by this author.
This was a first reads win for me, thank you to those who facilitated the giveaway. This book was by no means a bad read, but it wasn't great either. It followed the basic "romance" novel equation: girl meets boy, girl falls for boy, flirtation, hesitation, relationship, fall out, resolution, and happy ending. (I hope that doesn't count as a spoiler.) For my negatives, I felt like I could predict events with ease as I was reading this. And it was a bit annoying that during the initial flirtations stage of their relationship, Jake showed up EVERYWHERE that Lexi was. I've lived in a big city for the last six years and you don't just happen to run into your crush at every bar, restaurant, coffee shop, grocery store, etc. that you happen to pop into. Dating wouldn't be so damn difficult if this were actually the case. On the plus side, I liked the characters. Lexi was a great blend of independence, strength, and compassion. Jake was that unbelievably attractive guy with a good heart, knack for dealing with children, and great personality (ya know, the ones that only exist in novels like this! HA). Overall, a pleasant enough read to pass the time.
I liked this book! The main character, Lexi, was a very likeable young woman-she has a great job, great friends, she gives back to the community-someone who you couldn't help but root for to have good things happen to. I found Jake to be flat as a character, but probably because the story was told from Lexi's point of view. I was invested in reading about their relationship and was unsure how it was going to end-but it was a fabulous ending. The book featured what I felt were realistic situations a young professional faces today (brought back some memories for me). The book is rich in detail-descriptions of the work atmosphere, clubbing and socializing, clothing-very visual.
Overall, I felt it was a good debut novel from the author.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book but was not required to write a review.
This book is a really good love story. I was hooked from the first page and could not put it down until the end. I Loved Lexi and Jake's chemistry. I also loved the mention of Fifty Shades. I thought the book was well written. I'm hoping that there will be another book and more to Lexi and Jake's love story. If you are looking for a good love story, then this is the one. This was my first read by J B Glazer and I look forward to reading more of her work.
I won a paper back copy of this book from GoodReads. I also must add that I loved the cover jacket of this paperback...It's like none that I have ever owned and I loved the cover. The cover is what caught my eye and I just had to read it then.
I was hooked from page one! Being in the advertising industry, I know how common inter-office relationships are and I could totally relate to what was going on between Lexi and Jake (although I can't say I ever had anything as steamy as they did :)). I loved every aspect of the book - the writing was top-notch, the character development was stellar and the storyline was extremely well-crafted. I devoured the book, eager to find out what was going to happen between Lexi and Jake. And the ending definitely did not disappoint (boy did I not see that one coming). Please tell me there's going to be a sequel, as once I got to the end, I was left hungry for even more!! Bravo, JB!
so slow to build this relationship. I believe I skipped altogether half the book. I did not care about every detail of clothing shoes and especially advertising which I think I have now earned a degree in. by the time they finally get together I could not have cared less if she even took the ex back. total case of I want him so bad but I'm scared. I got him but I'm scared. oops little omission/misunderstanding so I run. come on. would like more maybe from male pov cause female....blah
Good summer read. I've been ready a lot of suspense, so this was a good break. Light romantic drama with a little back and forth that keeps you reading. Lexi's character was very likable and you want her and Jake to find their happiness. The book is full of detail and descriptions so it is easy to become immersed in their world.
I concur with what others have written; this was not a bad read per se, but not a great one either. I would recommend this if you want a simple read you can put down after reading a chapter before bed. I don't think I will read it over again, but it was fine to pass the time.
