THIS. BOOK. RIGHT. HERE.

description

I cannot begin to describe how I feel about this book. It is so well written and guess what!?!?!

THERE IS NO LOVE TRIANGLE OR ANY LOVE INTEREST! Mind you the main character is only a 12 year old girl.

description

Sarah, the female protagonist, lives with her grandparents and goes to school like any other 12 year old girl when one night she is woken up by her grandmother and is sent off to her tree house that her grandfather built for her in the middle of the night. As she is leaving, she finds that her house is surrounded by men that have come to take Sarah away from her grandparents and makes her escape to the tree house in hopes that her grandparents will be there shortly thereafter.

Though things do not go as planned.

Now on the run, she has to find a man that her mother went to college with and find out why Mr. Parnell (her father that she has never known) is coming after her and will stop at nothing in order to get her. Even if he has to kill. Along the way she meets a girl her age and another woman who will help her on the way to figure out exactly what her father wants from her.

Sarah might be young, but damn girl, she has fire. She will scorch you with anything she can get her hands on and isn't the whiny girl.

Let me just say there is massive biology stuff that is going on in this book that even twisted my mind a wee bit.

But I shan't go on about it as it will ruin what actually goes on.

This book kept me on my toes and just blew my mind a little bit. I mean that ending! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. I had something totally different in my mind as to how the ending would be.

I would totally read another one of Rachel Meehan books as this one was just so awesome!

WOW-what a great book! Can I give it a 10?

This book had me hook on the first page. Darn for having to work or I would have never stopped reading! It’s about a young girl, Sarah, living with her grandparents when she has to leave and runaway and learns about her past and the history of her family. Things no twelve year old should every have to do, she’s on her own to discover this past and the mystery of her father. She meets up with Amy, a runaway, Martin a friend of her mother’s and Ellen who ends up being related to her as well.

The book if full of twists and turns and mystery that has you never wanting to put the book down. All the characters are so well written you love the good guys and hate the bad. This is my first read from the author, Rachel Meehan, but I am certainly going to read more of her work. She has a new fan!

I received the book review and it has no bearing on my review.

What a pleasant surprise for a book I received free to review. Though there are a few typos and occasional missing word, this is a well written story otherwise. Mystery and science all wrapped up in one. Though it took a little bit to get involved, once I got further into the story, I found I had to keep reading in order to discover the outcome. Definitely worth reading!

Today We Did

Sarah is only twelve, but when men claiming to be police come to take her away from her grandparents, she finds herself on the run. Frightened and alone, she tries to find her way to the city, to a man she has never met, but whom her mother had trusted years before. Marty agrees to help her, and along the way, they befriend Amy and Ellen. Between them, they attempt to uncover the reasons that Sarah is being hunted by the powerful and rich father that she has never known. It is evident that he is not after a family reunion, but what could he want with her, and just how far will he go to obtain her?

Eternal Inheritance was exciting right from the first page, as Sarah escapes her grandparents’ cottage to begin a terrifying flight of survival. It was a fast-paced, page-turning mystery thriller, which I enjoyed. The story flowed well, but was rather complicated with lots of information and back story emerging throughout the book, including science and medical elements. However, everything was brought nicely together at the end, which was quite satisfying!

There was a definite distinction between good and bad in this story. All the characters were well written and easy to picture. Sarah’s father, Parnell, was a formidable character, written as the perfect adversary for young Sarah and her friends. He was rich, powerful and arrogant, with no respect for anyone or anything outside of his own interests. This made him an easy character to hate. A true villain! Conversely, Sarah and Amy seem so vulnerable and so young. They are strong and resourceful though, and I couldn’t help but hope they would triumph over Parnell. I also liked Marty and Ellen, they were very altruistic to risk themselves to help a child they didn’t even know existed until she landed on Marty’s doorstep. They made for good, strong characters to help our young hero on her quest for the truth, and for survival.

Eternal Inheritance is suitable for upper primary school to lower high school students. There was some violence, but none of it was too graphic. I’m happy for my eight year old to read this book, though I think some of the science concepts relating to Parnell might be too confusing for her.

I received Eternal Inheritance for free through Goodreads First Reads.

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book as well as the other books that I have read by Rachel Meehan. She weaves webs of mystery and suspense with this book which makes it hard for me to review without spoiling it for those who haven’t read it yet. The book follows Sarah as her world is turned upside down by the murder of her grandparents and the shocking reasons behind their deaths. With the help of her Mother’s old friend Marty she is on a quest to unravel the secrets of her mother’s past and is thrown into a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
