FBI Special Agent Riley Mathews works alone and for good reason. She’s gone to great lengths for years to keep her identity, as the daughter of a deceased president, a secret but the truth is about to be revealed. With a killer on the loose and dead bodies piling up, it’s up to her to untangle the web of lies left behind. When the psychopath pulls her strings, there’s little else she can do but follow the killer’s clues. These clues bring her face to face with the realization that these murders are anything but random. They are personal.
Agent Sam Gray can think of better ways to spend his time than playing tour guide and chauffeur to a cocky agent in town to review files. When the evidence and bodies start to pile up around her, it’s only a matter of time before she’s next in line. Trying to grab the killer’s attention would be a challenge for most, but not Sam. A simple write-up in the Daily Times will do the trick, even if the information is fabricated and tilted in his favor. Shifting the killer’s attention to him is exactly what he’s after.
With her secret exposed, Riley needs to work fast to find the killer before Sam’s name is added to his list. Fighting her attraction to the sexy agent wasn’t hard in Hell, but in Paradise, where fewer clothes are the norm, is proving to be a bit more challenging. Keeping her eyes on the ball and not his body becomes more difficult with every passing day. When the evidence starts pointing to people from her past, together they must take a trip down memory lane – in an attempt to find the killer before he strikes again.
Love the title and the play off the name of the town. Riley is an FBI agent whose happens to be the daughter of a former president killed by a drunk driver. She has gone through painstaking dental to keep her identity a secret, it's not even in her official file. Sam is an agent in Help, PA where she goes for a follow up in a case. Turns out the murders are all linked to her and she is in a race to figure it out before someone else is murdered. Her new partner Sam puts himself in the crosshairs to draw out the killer, but has unintended consequences. The chemistry between the two comes across loud and clear. Great book.
Special Agent Riley Matthews has worked for the FBI for years, using every weapon in her arsenal to protect her true identity: daughter of a deceased US President. When fellow agent Sam Gray shows up in Hell, Pennsylvania insisting he's her new partner, Riley's hackles are immediately up. She works alone, and ONLY alone, since people in her orbit don't seem to live long. With a killer on the loose and the body count rising, Riley is going to need help uncovering clues, and Sam is the man for the job. But it'll take more than their fierce attraction to one another to keep them, and their loved ones, alive.
HELL BOUND is a stand alone romantic suspense with a solid storyline, decent plot and enough red herrings to make you question what you think you know about the killer. I thought that this book started off pretty choppy, with forced dialogue and little chemistry between Riley and Sam. As the book progressed and Ms. Allenton hit her stride, the story flowed much more smoothly. The two MC's made a good team, and despite the lack of connection between them, as they started working together the book got marginally better and the conversational tone improved. There are a few sex scenes toward the end of HELL BOUND, and they were well written and pretty erotic.
Unfortunately, the big problem for me came from the editing side, and I found a large amount of misspelled words, incorrect sentence structure and grammatical errors (including the very first sentence of the book). I know that I’m a bit of a stickler for those type of things, so this review is taking into account that, given some serious corrections, it could be a much better book since the plot is strong.

Hell Bound by Kate Allenton
This is a standalone romantic suspense story that starts off slowly before picking up and maintaining speed.
It tells the tale of Riley, a woman with secrets, who is an FBI officer working on a case that is hitting very close to home. Although she would usually have been taken off the case for being too close, due to who she is (one of the secrets) and what is happening, her supervisor has given her the go-ahead to continue working the case.
I enjoyed reading this book although I personally prefer Lifting The Veil which I have only recently read. I found Sam to be slightly too cocky at the start and his "I know best" attitude. However, once things settled down, I started to like him more.
The story is well executed and thought out. You may or may not guess who the 'bad guy' is but even if you do guess, it doesn't take away any of the enjoyment you get from a well-written story.
Recommended for fans of Contemporary Romance with a pinch of Suspense added.
Riley is a FBI agent after a serial killer who is disposing of people who have hurt her. One of the people killed was her partner. So now she prefers to fly solo. The killer sends her personal messages and the last one leads to Hell, Penn. There she ends up with a partner who recklessly exposes her big secret, she is the daughter of the President who died in office. Pretty good mystery but very little emotional involvement.
Riley is a FBI agent hunting down a serial killer that has connections to her. She also has a secret that gets outed by her unwanted partner. Now, she and Sam must find the killer before Sam becomes the next victim. A good read with good romance and mystery.
