Francine Paula Pascal was an American author best known for her Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. Sweet Valley High, the backbone of the collection, was made into a television series, which led to several spin-offs, including The Unicorn Club and Sweet Valley University. Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles were re-released decades later.

This read a lot like a Trixie Belden book for younger readers, which is never a bad thing. As an adult, it's very easy to work out what's going on, but I'm sure it's not as clear to the intended audience of lower primary kids. I do think the ghost could have been a little spookier, though.

So the snoopers are all at day camp, and it’s kind of boring. They wish for a mystery - and boy do they get one! They’re out playing when it starts raining, and their (17 yo) counselled Jennifer tells them to head to a nearby museum because it’s closer. It used to be a Mission with Monks, and the Museum Director tells them a ghost story - that some pirates were heading to the town but a Monk found out and raced there to ring the bells to warn the town, but disappeared. And he still rings the bells she went there’s danger - but there’s no ringers in the bells anymore. Of course, the kids are too cool to believe in ghosts. But almost immediately the lights go out and they think they see a Monk. Then back at camp a locked room is trashed and ‘go away’ is painted on the wall. The Camp Cook Joe offers to clean it and makes a joke about a ghost and I’m like 🤨 The next day the twins overhear the camp owner kicking some dude out of her office. He comes out and the twins feel bad and run off. Joe tells them some oranges went missing, and then - they hear bells ringing 😱😱 The snoopers run to the museum and see footprints. Heaps of kids start dropping out of camp and I’m like 🧐 The Camp out is coming up and the Snoopers decide to hold a stake out. It’s all going well (one fake ghost aside, some kid in a bathrobe) when the twins run into the guy that got yelled at again. He’s hiding something Scooby... Of course the fingers start going, the Snoopers run off again and catch someone in a hooded robe - it’s Joe 😱 And his accomplice is the other guy! The Snoopers tell the police everything. These guys were working together to scare kids off and buy the camp for the land! I know, I bet you’re shocked too! They get hailed as hero’s and live to solve another mystery.
My rating - 3/10 - a little more believable than the last one, but very predictable and I’m sure I’ve read it in a Trixie Belden 🤔
