Rate this book

This is one of the books that can soothe someone's soul. The dialogue is quite pompous, but the lines are well written. Somehow it resembles Jane Eyre, even though is a lot shorter and with less details. It's easy to read, the characters are mesmerizing and it portrays the collision between a proud Englishman and a stubborn, yet inexperienced young French lady.

A very nice and pleasant reading, with a romantic theme, but written in an original style at the beggining of the century

This is one of the first books I ever read for pleasure, and it is still in my brain. I read it a couple of times during the years, and now that it was stollen along with other books, I quite miss it. The story is short and easy to read, but I love Simona's character as she is stubborn like me.
