This was between a 3.5 and 4 star for read for me. But I'll go ahead and round up for Bowen and his filthy mouth!
Okay, I had two problems with this one....
(1) the INSTA-LOVE
Literally this book spans over a week tops. It started as insta-lust when Bowen saw a picture of Sera and quickly became insta-love.
and (2) Virgin Sera
I definitely could have done without Sera being a virgin. Rarely can that be pulled off in books.
Those two issues aside, this was a pretty good read. There was a bit of suspense with the whole under-cover cop/gang leader storyline. Very little drama and plenty of steam!
If you're a fan of Tessa Bailey, I'd definitely recommend this one!

4 Risky Stars.
Sera, a detective decides to go rogue (otherwise known as going undercover with no authorization) to revenge her brother’s death. And she is willing to get herself way into the criminal world of Brooklyn. Bowen, the heir to that world without ever having asked for it is contacted by NYPD to keep an eye on her. So when their worlds collide, they realize that there’s something to be said about a relationship between a detective and a criminal boss. Sera can’t know that Bowen’s in in fact helping her, Bowen can’t tell her that he’s more than a criminal. But when lies and secrets beginning to be unravel… they are risking a hell of a crash. And neither of them knows if will make it out alive.
When I want to read a book with hot badass alpha-males, kickass heroines and with enough action to keep me entertained, Tessa Bailey’s books are always a great bet. Add the dirty talker quality and ladies, you have yourself a winner. This was no exception to the formula, (despite this guy being technically in the wrong side of the law), and it was exactly what Tessa’s got us used to and with her signature engaging writing style. I loved it!
Rating: 4 Stars.

4.5 'Take it' Stars!

4.5 "King of All Dirty Talkers" Stars!
Holy hotness, Batman! Bowen Driscoll is gonna light yourpanties Kindle on fire! I knew Tessa Bailey was the queen of dirty talking alpha heroes, but she's outdone herself here. Anywho, on to my review...
Serafina is a woman out for revenge...revenge for her brother's murder. Previously a nurse, she changed her career to law enforcement to go undercover seeking the proof to put the mafia thug that killed him behind bars. Until she suddenly goes off the grid.
Bowen Driscoll is the head of a notorious crime family. Thrown into this role when his father gets incarcerated, he plays the part of ruthless crime lord, even though it goes against everything he stands for. He hates this part of himself but has no way out... until the police approach him to find a cop that's gone missing. He's used to the street ways and can find her...protect her. Get her home where she belongs.

I'm not a huge fan of insta-love but, fortunately, at least this starts out with insta-lust. The love follows quite a bit later...like 48 hours, maybe? But I digress. This book sizzled. The chemistry between these two characters was scorching! Unfortunately for Bowen, he promises himself her will not go there with this sweet he's being contracted to protect. Even if it kills him.... But they can play, right?
One issue I had with this book is the lack of character introduction where Sera is concerned. As we read along, we find out she's been raised in an all-girl Catholic boarding school. What confused me is how Bowen knew . There were several instances where she also started reciting the Our Father's or Hail Mary's and it just didn't fit for me in the story line. I guess if we got more background to her being raised so devout Catholic but it wasn't really explained early on.
This book is a bit different from most of Tessa Bailey's other reads in that he's a bit of an anti-hero. Bowen is not entirely good. He wants to be but life is forcing him to go in the other direction. Can this sweet Seraphina, who brings out the alpha protective instinct within Bowen, finally be what it takes to break him away from the life of crime he was thrown into?

4 My Addiction to Tessa Bailey Stars

I have an addiction to Tessa Bailey. She writes books which just hit all the pleasure points I have.
Do I like a plot, Yup.
Do I like a Manly Guy...not metro sexual, Yup.
Do I like it when said manly guy is confident in his manliness and everyone knows it, Yup.
And do I like a Dirty Talker... not cheesy but just one who knows exactly what to say at exactly the right time to cause my brain to react in just the right way...Damn Straight, Yup.
And then on top of all this yummy goodness.... do you want to have a heroine who can hold her own with this sexual magnet, yes, please. I have to live through someone in order to get that expert dirty talking...He can't do it in a vacuum...
So, I know when I read Tessa Bailey she will give me three-dimensional characters mostly involved in an intricate plot...and this one was involving criminals, cops, undercover activity, and secrets. She brought in past characters from other books but we didn't need to have read them to understand this book. This also was the first book of a new series which led to the need for more... more set up, more intensity and more layering. Most of the time it was fine...but there were a few periods when I could have done with less...
Because I wanted more Bowen.
He is a very complex character; locked into a world, not of his choosing...his father made those choices. He has his relationship of his half-sister, Ruby, at stake...she means everything to him. This puts him in a position where he has to be something alien...He has to look out for an undercover cop who has gone rogue on her own...and once he sees this picture of this woman... so fresh, seemingly pure and innocent...he just knows he will figure out a way to protect her.
The object of this interest is Seraphia Newsom. She was a nurse, her brother was a cop and then while on the job, he was murdered by the North Brooklyn Crime boss Hogan. Seraphia left nursing; became a cop with the only goal of bringing down Hogan. She has gotten herself inside and there is a ledger with all the evidence she needs to bring this scum down. She just needs to figure out when to nab it and the hell get out.
Bowen Driscol is now the head of the South Brooklyn Crime family; he doesn't wish to be...but it is what it is. This leads him to be able to interact with Hogan as they have a deal pending. At the bar where Seraphia is "working as Sera", Bowen makes himself known, visually tags Sera and the story takes off from there.
Bailey sets all of this up with very steamy interaction between these two...the build up is insane.... they are frothing at the mouth in how much each of them wants each other...and so is the reader...This part of the story works full blast.
There were a lot of moving parts. It is important to pay attention to all of them. I did see a key player and I knew exactly what was about to happen, however, it did not deter. The only downside for me was a bit of the pacing in the last quarter or so of the book.
This addiction to these types of stories is not a bad thing in my book. I am fortunate because Ms. Bailey has created the next book and it will be equally as good for it takes place in Chicago.... and one of the characters we get to have another taste of is...

Yes, my man from Protecting What's His (Line of Duty #1) will be in the next book...not the main character but any amount of him is delicious and oh so fulfilling. I can breathe easier...I know my next fix is not far away.

TB always delivers off the charts sexy time. I liked the whole storyline of an undercover cop and gang leader. Sera was kind of meh and it was kind of insta attraction but I guess it didn't bug me much this time because I enjoy TBs writing style and IT WAS SO HOT!!!

I have to admit, I really did enjoy this one. Tessa Bailey is one of my top favorite authors for a reason!
The book wasn't perfect, I definitely think the virginal Catholic school girl type of heroine is played out. It wasn't especially believable that she was a New York City cop either. The story line had lots of holes in it, imo. The thing with Tessa Bailey though is that she is able to distract me with her hot, possessive alpha men to the point where I don't even care. She mesmerizes me from the beginning, and Bowen was a 5 star, dirty talkin' hottie,
He says things like this,
"It has to be this way, Sera. Otherwise you'll end up with your ankles behind my neck, screaming while I pound you." His teeth sank into his bottom lip. " And that's just how it'll start. When I feel myself coming, I'd hold it back. I'd flip you on your hands and knees and start all over." He ran his hands up her rib cage to grasp her breasts. "On second thought, maybe you'd like that. Catholic girls spend a lot of time kneeling already, don't they?"
Then I'm like,

1.5 DNFed not because it was a bad read, but because it was so very boring!
The characters were a bit annoying and the female MC was an idiot.
Oh, and let's not forget about Bowen! He's got that typical personality, he's the person who gets handed an empire but he doesn't like it. He's a bad guy who's actually good. He has to kill people but he feels sorry for it.
So yes, the good little virgin meets the big bad killer with a golden heart and they fall in love.
Nope, it's not the kind of story I want to read. Too typical, too boring, too many idiots and definitely way too long.

4.5 - "You Catholic girls and your filthy minds." Stars!
Tessa Bailey has a formula and it works. You cannot dispute that, and I wouldn’t want to. Her heroes are strong, alpha, dirty talking guys, who happily back up their words with knee trembling results.
”We both know it’s only a matter of time before I’m pounding the purity right out of you.”
Her heroines are on-the-surface confident, spunky and take-no-shit from the men pursuing them. The storyline may change, but the people involved generally have the basic characteristics every-time. I think this is in part (along with her frigging awesome writing skills) the reason her books work, you know what you are getting, and you get given it good and hard, sometimes fast but always fully satisfied at the end.
”Fighting was in his blood. He did it often and he did it well.
Bowen Driscol is not an unknown name to Bailey aficionados, the guy appears heavily in His Risk to Take and Riskier Business as someone who is extremely important to Ruby Elliott. But this is Bowen’s book, you get Bowen’s story in all its dirty talking, hard fighting, and unashamedly sexy Technicolor glory!
His Bible had been a notebook filled with debts.
Sera Newsom is out for revenge, because of that emotions have somewhat clouded her judgment, when it comes to investigating the man who potentially had a hand in killing her brother. She is undercover, and finds herself in a position that ultimately puts her life on the line, if her real identity is discovered. Bowen adds to the danger, but in a completely different, and totally unexplored way for Sera.
The romance and suspense flow along at a really steady clip in Risking in All. Sera and Bowen’s coming together, the building of the relationship between them, and the breaking down of the barriers they both have around their hearts and emotions offers the reader an exciting and really emotive read. Bowen is a complex character, and Tessa went a step further with this book in relation to the Alpha-Male she delivered up for the reader’s enjoyment.
I think Risking it All is possibly one of Tessa’s finest books to date. But to be fair all of her books are seriously good so it would be difficult to pick an out an out favorite if put on the spot. You won’t regret reading this one, you will fall in love with Bowen and you will love the direction in which the series is being taken!

Sera Newsom is out for revenge, because of that emotions have somewhat clouded her judgment, when it comes to investigating the man who potentially had a hand in killing her brother. She is undercover, and finds herself in a position that ultimately puts her life on the line, if her real identity is discovered. Bowen adds to the danger, but in a completely different, and totally unexplored way for Sera.
The romance and suspense flow along at a really steady clip in Risking in All. Sera and Bowen’s coming together, the building of the relationship between them, and the breaking down of the barriers they both have around their hearts and emotions offers the reader an exciting and really emotive read. Bowen is a complex character, and Tessa went a step further with this book in relation to the Alpha-Male she delivered up for the reader’s enjoyment.
I think Risking it All is possibly one of Tessa’s finest books to date. But to be fair all of her books are seriously good so it would be difficult to pick an out an out favorite if put on the spot. You won’t regret reading this one, you will fall in love with Bowen and you will love the direction in which the series is being taken!

I had high hopes for this one but it sort of ended on a fizzle and not a bang. I can usually suspend the disbelief while reading books but this one was a bit too much to take. Bowen, holding hands in church ... having such strong feeling for her straight away. I mean, this was supposed to be a tough guy! Not saying the tough guys can't fall hard but it wasn't working for me.
The heroine came across as a bit immature. What age was she supposed to be? She had been a nurse and then cop so she must at least have been in her mid to late twenties.
Sex scenes were hot enough I suppose. But if I pay almost 7 bucks for a book I need it to be a bit better than this.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I first started reading this book because I've never read any book by Tessa Bailey before. But it turned out to be my different reading experience. I fell in love with her writing style. The story grabbed me from the first chapter and kept me engaged right up until the end. And the sex scenes were so damn hot, I had to fan myself! LOL
The hero, Bowen, was a complex character. He was the heir to South Brooklyn criminal operation. He became the leader when his father was sent to prison, yet he was unhappy with this position. The author created such a swoon-worthy alpha hero! I always have a soft spot for the heroes with a protective streak and Bowen was very protective, possessive, and devoted to the heroine. What a complete package this guy! I couldn't have asked for more!
Sera was an undercover cop who tried to find out the truth about her brother's death. When Bowen was sent to protect her, they were immediately attracted to each other. The sexual tension between them was so strong, so much so that I wondered how they could manage to keep their hands off each other.

If you like a dirty talker...a filthy, sexy bad boy then you will LOVE Bowen!

I'm a big fan of dirty talkers. I, myself, like using profanities; they seem to convey my feelings much better than normal words. So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered Tessa Bailey. Hailed as the "Queen of Dirty Talkers", she has a pretty solid following and a great track record. A lot of my friends love her.
But unfortunately, I did not. Far from it. I tried to like this book, but I had so many issues with the plot and the characters that I just couldn't give it any rating above 2 stars. It didn't feel right.
My main issue is that the heroine had the critical thinking skills of a boiled potato. She was supposedly an Emergency Room nurse-turned-detective, yet she was very stupid, transparent, gullible, impulsive and emotional—qualities that would surely get you killed if you were an undercover detective.
Having [distant] relatives in the law enforcement field, I felt insulted at seeing someone like her characterised as a detective. Truth be told, Sera would have been raped and killed by Chapter Three if any of this happened in reality.
1. She decided to go undercover without her superior's knowledge. This, in itself, was a big dumb-ass move, because she, herself, admitted that Hogan was a cold-blooded, notorious, and extremely influential killer—he supposedly controlled the criminal operations in South Brooklyn.
If you were really a sensible person, you'd know that you'd need back-up and reinforcements to execute such a plan. That's only common sensical, for fuck's sake. Going undercover as a rogue detective is a freaking suicide mission. No rational person would do that.
Okay, so I'm pretty sure you're all, "But she wants revenge for her brother! She's overwrought with grief. It's normal to want to do something about her brother's death. What's wrong with that?" Well, isn't that an indication that she was too controlled by emotions to be making rational decisions ? This, again, merely supports my claim that she was too emotional to be a convincing cop. The rational thing to do would have been to formulate a plan to get Hogan's ledger, fiercely lobby for it, and wait for someone more qualified to go undercover and carry it out. Not only would that be more efficient, it would have been the most effective way of doing things. The success rate would have been higher, damn it.
Instead, she went and took a leap of faith. I can almost hear her say, "This might get me killed. Oh, well, here goes nothing!"
2. For someone undercover, she did a fucking bad job at convincing people about her role. She was supposed to be a waitress at a small diner, but she didn't act and speak like one. This was actually mentioned by Hogan in Chapter One:
Add that to the fact that she nearly blew her cover by exhibiting her ER nursing skills in front of the whole diner. What waitress would know how to carefully administer first aid to a gunshot wound? If this happened in real life, Hogan would have questioned that. If he really was the bad-ass crime lord that he was established to be, he would have instinctively known that she was lying about being a simple waitress. She exhibited far too much knowledge about medicine, on top of talking intelligently, to be someone she claimed to be. She apparently did such a bad job waitressing, even Bowen had to comment on it:
Plus, having a code name so similar to your real one? Um, seriously, girl. Grow a brain, please.
You see, detectives are trained to act out their roles—some even have to learn how to be fluent at certain accents, or develop certain skills. It's basic training. Also, code names are a big deal to them; they don't just pick out whatever pseudonym they fancied. And this is why I'm so annoyed—you'd think the writer researched about this first. Or maybe she had, but failed to integrate this bit of knowledge into her characterisation. Either way, this oversight pissed me off big time. It made everything feel stupid.
3. Sera was inconsistent with her religious tendencies. You see, she would always cross herself after saying something bad, and refused to utter the word "hate". LOLWTF. But she apparently didn't have any problem listening to Bowen curse like a drunken sailor on leave. And she didn't have any reservations about him fucking her senseless, or giving him blowjobs. LOL.
Another thing that didn't sit well with me was Sera and Bowen's relationship. They were too dramatic to be convincing. It reminded me of the badly dubbed Latin TV shows that my Mom loves so much, where the major issues could have been resolved with a nice, long talk between the characters. I was particularly annoyed when Seriously, WTF.
Also, as deliciously dirty as Bowen was, he was too obsessive. To be honest, he was borderline psycho.
Oh, boy. First and foremost, let me tell you one thing: I love possessive heroes. I love it when the guy gets all jealous. But this was over-doing it, man. Who does Bowen think he is, Big Brother? The Thought Police? This felt like a scene straight out of 1984 than a romance novel.
There's a difference between possessive and obsessive. There are boundaries you just can't cross without treating the person like shit, trampling all over his or her autonomy.
I admit, though, I'm more lenient to this in Historical Romance novels. This is because they're set in times when women were seen as possessions. I'm not saying that alone makes obsessive behaviour okay, but what I'm saying is that it makes sense for characters to act like that if they do. But for novels set in modern times? Not so much. Not if the writer wants to be representative of what's truly going on in the world right now.
Moreover, I just hated how Bowen put Sera on a pedestal. He acted as though she was the female version of the Messiah, coming down to Earth to save mankind from their sins. Please excuse me while I puke.
What saved this from being a 1-star are the extremely hot sex scenes. That's it.
Overall, this was okay. If you want a steamy read, go ahead. But if you're like me who prefers a well-thought out story with a convincing romance, then steer clear of this.

Risking It All by Tessa Bailey was scorchingly hot and deliciously sexy!! Tessa Bailey never disappoints her readers when it comes to steam, passion, lust, desire, and sex but Tessa took it up a notch when she delivered one of the most dirty-talking alpha hero that I absolutely loved. Ladies, I must warn you not only will your kindles be heating up because Ms. Bailey will leave you panting and begging for more Bowen Driscol. He has to find the location of an undercover cop, Serafina. When Serafina and Bowen meet, they are immediately attracted to each other. Bowen wants Sera, he wants to protect her from anyone and anything.

4 'OTT' stars
This one has a serious case of insta-love. Bowen, the hero is so OTT and his possessiveness from day one is creeping me out. I nearly threw the towel with all his craziness over a woman he just meet. I have a feeling he will start making up babies name before the month ends.
However despite how much I want to roll my eyes at some of the cliche and dramatic moments, this book is freaking addictive. There isn't a lull moment in the plot. I'm sure the panty melting sex scene is one of the major draw. Holy goodness. Bowen's dirty talking is to die for. Deep down he is a good guy that show so much vulnerability. And before long, I even love his brand of crazy over the top passionate love.

It's official! Tessa Bailey is now a new fav' author for me. From now on, I'll be directly one-clicking all books she will release in the future. Not that I had a doubt about it because after I read "His risk to take", I bought all her books and all I have to find is time to read them all.
Even if "Risking it all" is a stand-alone, I suggest you to read "His risk to take" and "Riskier business". You meet Bowen Driscrol several times in them and you get to know him a little better before fully diving in this one.

There are so many things to discover about Bowen that I couldn't put the book down. The moments between both our Mc are moments of revelations, of truth (most of the time) and I've learnt so much. Bowen has a good heart and doens't really want to stay stuck where he's in life. He wants something better and since Sera appeared in his life, he starts to hope.

Being the heir of a criminal enterprise was not what Bowen Driscol wanted, but he never had a choice. When his father was imprisoned, running the family enterprise fell on his shoulders. Bowen knows exactly what kind of danger Sera is in, and keeping her safe has become his number one goal. The other is keeping his hands off of her, which is proving to be an impossible task. Never has he felt such an intense desire and need for another person. But he knows that he isn’t good enough for her, that because of her brother and her job, all she sees is his bad side and he’s not even allowed to tell her that he’s on her side.
It figured that the first man she’d felt a physical pull toward would show up while she was undercover.
Seraphine Newson used to be a nurse until her brother was murdered. Now as an NYPD detective Sera will do whatever she has to avenge his death, to bring his murderer to justice. Going undercover was the logical choice, although doing it alone was her only choice. But when she overhears something she shouldn’t, her time becomes suddenly very short, and Sera knows she needs to find the evidence before her time runs out. Catching the attention of the dangerous Bowen wasn’t what she needed and despite knowing that he’s bad news, Sera is finding it hard to resist him, to ignore the need to fix him.
He could learn. He could learn to be someone else, do something else, if it meant keeping her. He’d do anything.
Can Bowen risk showing Sera the real him, the man beneath his violent reputation and criminal legacy, and hope that she won’t run in the end, and that the operation doesn’t explode in their faces?
Her mouth, her taste, her voice. All things he couldn’t be without anymore. Necessities.
I love an anti-hero and Bowen is definitely now one of my favorites. He was so broken that it made my heart hurt and I just wanted to make him better. I ADORED everything about him. How he’s good but also a bit bad. His past and his legacy has shaped him into the man he was and with every criminal and violent task he’s forced to take, he loses a little more of his goodness. I loved how Sera brought that good side of him to the forefront, how nothing mattered more to him than protecting her. His absolute need of her, how badly he wanted to keep her, how intensely and obsessively he loved her and how possessive he was over her was so damn sexy. He is the perfect dirty-talking alpha!
The practical part of her screamed bad news, but her heart only sped faster. After her investigation ended, could she walk away from him? Even thinking the words made her entire body rebel, hurting head to toe.
I liked Sera but she paled in comparison to Bowen. Also her reluctance to see a future with him, to see past his criminal label made me like her a little less, even though I knew it was smart of her to be cautious it still made me angry that she just couldn’t accept and love him like he was from the beginning because to me he was just so freaking wonderful. I did love how she made it up to him in the end, how prepared she was to fight for him and how she always wanted to make him feel better.
“I love you. So fucking much I’m not sure I have room for it all.”
She let her head fall back against his shoulder, incredible relief making her movements languid. “Make room. I’m not going anywhere.”
The romance was so passionate and intense. I loved that Bowen was so intensely attracted to Sera right from the first moment he saw her and that she had such a hard time keeping her distance from him. The way he pursued her was so awesome and how he tried to protect her, even from himself. And the sexy times were SO fucking hot!!! Holy hell, this author knows how to write steamy sex scenes and with Bowen’s awesome dirty talk my kindle was sizzling!!
I really liked the plot and the suspense of Sera trying to find the missing evidence without being caught and all the secrets that were revealed at the end. I also liked one of the secondary characters very much, and with the way things ended I can’t wait to read the next book.
“I don’t know how to explain it. I want to walk beside you everywhere and absorb anything bad, so it won’t touch you. Won’t change you, make you like me.”
I’m such a huge fan of this author’s writing. Her heroes are always such perfect dirty-talking alphas, and the romance so sexy and hot and this was another amazing book by her. My only complaint was that I would have liked an epilogue with a HEA ending instead of the HFN we got, but hopefully that will be fixed in the next book. This book is a definite must read for all romance fans.

When I’ve first been introduced to Bowen in His Risk to Take (Line of Duty #2), I found him an interesting character. Then, in Riskier Business (Sequel in the Crossing the Line series) I found him appealing and captivating and I really should have seen it coming. Sexy? Challenging? Powerful? Trouble? Check, check, check and check! After reading his story I was definitely captivated.
I love both Seraphina and Bowen equally. They are two amazing and lovable characters driven by the same determination; to save each other. The scenes between them are without a doubt crazy hot, so incredibly arousing. Like seriously scorching HOT! And dirty-talking alpha Bowen…Oh my! The BJ scene is one the hottest I ever read.

Loved Bowen - although not what I expected from the earlier books. I also liked Sera. I love Tessa Bailey and thought this was an excellent continuation of this storyline. I had no idea how she was going to get them to a happy place in the end, but I liked how she did!

I'm not sure if it was just me, but I struggled through this book. I was expecting a light, easy romance that I could fly through, but I had to slog my way through the whole second half of this book. I did like the first half a lot more, but it was never anything too special. I do admit that some of the more romantic or steamy scenes caught my attention, but nothing else really did it for me. I'm just majorly disappointed right now, I was really looking forward to this one.

Serephia Newsom is a detective, but she'll surely lose her job after this rogue mission of hers. It seemed that everyone else has given up on bringing her dead brother justice, but she has not. Instead, Seraphia has decided to go undercover to infiltrate a crime gang in order to find evidence that will prove these men guilty. But the further she delves into this underground world of crime, the harder it is to find a way out. Now, Seraphia has a real risk of getting herself not only discovered but killed.
After his father was sent to jail, Bowen Driscol was expected to lead the criminal empire that he is heir to. He has been to the police station countless times, but this time he is taken in for no apparent reason and practically blackmailed. The NYPD blackmail him into keeping an eye on a young undercover cop. But when Bowen comes face to face with Serephia, he knows that hit won't be that simple. Not only is she in for a helluva lot of trouble, but he can't seem to keep his hands off her. Now, his mission seems to be more than just to keep an eye on her, because he would do anything to protect her. But, he also hasn't told her that he knows her undercover status, or that he's working with the very police department that she is trying to defy.
I was just really underwhelmed with how this book turned out. I was expecting something it to be more angsty, swoon worthy or even interesting. To be honest, I have no idea what was really happening in this book because the overall plot line was just so uninteresting, I really didn't care about any of the gangs or crime stuff. To be hones, I didn't care much for the romance stuff either, but I'll get to that later. I'm not sure why exactly, but I really had to push myself to finish this book. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but I just don't think I connected to the writing at all, so it was just really hard to get into. The storyline seemed all over the place, characters were underdeveloped, plots were poorly explained and the book just didn't seem to tie together. This made it a rather unpleasant read.

I admit, there were some moments when Bowen would melt the ice that had grown around my heart, but for the most part I wasn't liking this pair. First of all, it was way too insta-love like and unbelievable. They saw each other once and then just started dating like bumbling fools because they had never felt so horny in their lives. I'm just not buying it. There was no reason for there to be such a strong connection between the two and there was also no build up whatsoever. We were constantly told of the connection that these two had, but I never felt it. I also think that Bowen was a rather unoriginal hero, there were so many times when I just thought about reading his exact character before. Their relationship was just obnoxiously mediocre.
There was nothing overly offensive about this book, it just wasn't what I was hoping for. I wanted a quick, romantic and maybe even funny read. Instead, I spent a lot of time trying to forge myself to continue the book and a lot less time actually enjoying the story. This is my first book by this author, but I still reckon I might like her other books, so I'm pretty sure I'll give her another time. I'm also in a massive reading slump at the moment, which is another reason why I probably couldn't get invested in the story. Hopefully my next book by her is more enjoyable.

This is by no means a literary masterpiece, but I loved it for what it was. A very surface-level, fun undercover cop/reluctant crime boss romance with an obsessed hero who worships the ground the heroine walks on.

I've been curious about Bowen ever since we first met him in His Risk to Take so of course I was excited to finally get my hands on his story. Tessa Bailey excels at writing dirty talking alpha heroes and Bowen is no exception to that, in fact I think he might just be her hottest one yet! What I love most about him is how complicated he is. Bowen would be the first person to tell you he's not a good man, in fact, he was raised to be as bad as they come. His father used to be the boss of the criminal underworld in South Boston and ever since he was sent to prison Bowen has taken over his role. Bowen has done a lot of terrible things but he's living a life he never asked for an doesn't really want and as much as he has that dark side he also has a good side to him too. He's always been very protective of his younger sister Ruby, to the point where he has now pushed her away from him to keep her safe, and he has his own code of honour that he sticks to. When undercover cop Sera gets in too deep police officers use Bowen's connection to Ruby and Troy to put pressure on him to go to her rescue. The last thing Bown needs is the added complication of a rookie cop but he can't leave her alone and unprotected so reluctantly agrees to play bodyguard.
Sera couldn't be more different to Bowen, she's a good girl who initially trained as a nurse but changed her career path after her police officer brother was murdered. All Sera wants is to put her brother's murderer behind bars but even though they know who was behind Colin's death the police haven't been able to prove it. Sera isn't willing to leave things at that though so she takes it upon herself to go undercover to find the proof she needs to get Hogan locked up for good. I ended up having mixed feelings about Sera, in some ways I really liked her but there were times when I found her incredibly frustrating. I could completely understand her need to get revenge but I struggled to believe that she'd had any kind of police training. I think I would have found it more realistic if she'd just quit her job as a nurse and gone in completely unprepared - that's certainly how she acted. Overall I was able to forgive her naivety though and I did love the slow build relationship between her and Bowen.
Risking it All is one of Tessa Bailey's hottest books yet and the fact that it was longer than most of her other stories really allowed readers the chance to connect with both of the characters. The way things ended have left me very excited to continue reading this series and I'm already hoping that Connor's story will be up next. If you love Tessa's Line of Duty series I have a feeling you're going to enjoy this one even more!

Ok the fact that I took me so long to read should have told me to stop reading it. I have never not read a whole book until the end but this ending was just soooo stupid! What just they what ? Get married nope have sex sure but we don't read about it, but I guess since he called her his girlfriend it's all good right?
Because being a good religious girl shacking up with a mob guy is just awesome enough I guess.
I call bullshit on this whole story here because, First she is young and a nurse and a cop??? Really? Do I have a grade 3 education here to believe that crap, or to have bought into that bullshit.
I can't even go there here.
Once again I am on the outside here looking in with my unpopular opinion here, but I had a really hard time with this bullshit story and even when he goes into the cop car at the beginning to ask to be an informant protector?! Really that's not even right here!
How could they Comprise her cover by telling him everything?
Omg ok I will stop now because I did not enjoy this one.
It is a real shame because I have enjoyed two of her other books.
I will give up on this series cause now I am just pissed.
They left me hanging and on to nothing... No real epilogue other then they move in together what about him or her what does she do now what about his choices.

This sure was a steamy book and I certainly enjoyed but I can't say that I truly loved it. Also, I really liked Bowen but he came out as extremely intense, if he were my boyfriend I would probably slap him with a restraining order lol.

I loved the Brooklyn setting as I was raised there and the setting and places mentioned brought back so many memories for me.I can picture the Italian resturants,the old neighborhoods,getting a slice and coke,and the cannoli's,nothing beats a Brooklyn cannoli!
