Whoa! There was something about this book that just crushed me but then filled me right back up. My star rating is because there was more to know about these two MCs and how they make a go of it as a couple. Does she find her brother, for instance? And how does that work out? The author did such an insanely good job at breathing life into the characters and the place, also. I'm all for expanding this into a full novel!

Seriously, this was almost too much. Caitlyn's arrival in the big apple is a chance for a new start and a bit of fun. Funny that the first bar she walks into is not Liam Sullivan's bar. But all the same they strike sparks. I really hope that never happens in real life. Like...high octane...and I'm not talking about the motorbike.

This is really heavy on the carnal connection, but as Caitlyn and Liam get to know each other when she works at his bar, we see a whole lot more happening. Somehow their pasts forge a link that is stronger even than the physical...which is way hot. Lucky it's winter here because...steam.

Overall a very heavy on the heat read with a sweet romance underneath...did I say underneath...maybe I meant on top.

I think I'll give up. If you like a spanking hot read but with a romance this is a good pick.

I love when I read a new to me author and they blow me out of the water first time and that’s the case with Abby Green and her novella Getting Off. This author managed to pack a whole lot of punch into a small package; interesting characters (including secondary ones), an unusual conflict between the H/h, a woman with nothing to lose and a man with something to prove, and some really, really smoldering hot sexy scenes with just a wee bit of kink. Have your significant or BOB nearby ladies because this book is guaranteed to heat you up!
Caitlin Ryan has a problem; she’s never had an orgasm. Seriously, like never with a partner or by herself and she’s about given up. Moving from Ireland to New York in search of a job she hopes that maybe she can find someone to trip her trigger so to speak. When she meets Liam Sullivan in a bar her body sits up and takes notice like it’s never done before, she can’t help but wonder if he can be the one to finally help her out with her little problem.
Honestly I loved these two characters so much and while at first I wanted to curse Liam for his so obvious male reaction after their first time, but I also understood why he acted the way he did. I love the fact that he wanted to give Caitlin something she’d never had before. Just the fact that after a short time she felt comfortable enough to tell him about her problem spoke of the immediate connection they had together. I really enjoy a man who is willing to go the extra mile to satisfy a woman and one who won’t let woman bullshit her way out of a situation!
All I can say is this book lives up to its Red Hot Read tag line and it is not to be missed. Abby Green may be a new author to me but she’s on my radar now and I’ll be keeping tabs on her because if she writes a novella this well, with this much content, I can only imagine what a full length book by her will be like.

I’ve read so many of AG’s books and loved them. She creates fabulous characters who engage your interest and sets them on a journey to a happy ending that always has problems en route but which finishes with an emotionally satisfying resolution. The story always shows how love is developing between them and the sexy scenes are always a fabulous instrument to show their intimacy and love developing.

Not this book. It’s all about the sex and about adding a very mild bdsm dimension which the heroine, hitherto a total novice, immediately buys into.

One thing which ew me was that Caitlin’s chapters were in first person POV whilst Liam’s were in 3rd. It made no sense to me and every time the POv changed, the change from 1st to 3rd jarred.

It’s not a bad book and it’s as well written as most of her other books - but such a disappointment after everything else I’ve read.

simply not my cup of tea I’m afraid.

This story was short, sweet and oh so hot!

Caitlin has just moved from Dublin to New York and she's looking for a job. She meets Liam one night at a bar and they share a memorable night together. The only problem....she doesn't have an orgasm. She's never had one before. Most guys don't notice, but Liam isn't most guys. He doesn't do relationships but there is something about Caitlin that he can't get over. That's when he comes up with the weekend challenge. A way to solve her problem and to get her out of his system. But sometimes things don't go as planned. I loved the ending!

This story fits the short space perfectly. We get enough character development that these two feel like people with real lives, which can be very hard to do in a full length work much less a novella. Yet, the info we get and what remains off the page form just the right mix of back story to make Caitlin and Liam stand out.

These two meet practically on Caitlin's first day in NYC from Dublin and it's instant lust. Welcome to America! I liked these two together and when lust turned into more I believed it - also hard to do in a novella. They were both smart, the story was super engaging, and ended in the right place. A standout for this Cosmo Red Hot Reads series!

Also, I read this story in my head in my best Irish accent (and it's for the best that it stayed in my head).

Sometimes these Cosmo Red Hots are to fast for me and the sped and length make the love story unrealistic. I thought this was going to be the case in Getting Off. But surprisingly, a one night stand turned into a weekend challenge which blossomed into something more. Smart way to hand the page count!

Great story with hot sex but no real ending. What about his Dad? Where's her brother? Too many unanswered questions.

This was a pretty quick read, like one of those you read in between actual books. It was fun and sexy, and something you’d read to just pass the time. I know that’s what I did. That being said, I would've enjoyed it and wouldn’t actually mind if this was made into a full-blown novel or even novella – cause it was too short to even be considered as a novella.

One of the things that intrigued me was that the heroine is originally from Dublin, and even though the actual story was set in New York, I still liked the fact that one of them was of Scottish descent. Anyway, there’s not much to say about this book except that it was short, fun, and full of steamy moments to get you by. But yeah, it was just too short to give an actual review.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked the spiciness between Caitlin and Liam and how they got together. The characters of Caitlin and Liam were well developed. I only wish some of the questions raised in the story were answered before the end.

This is a spicy city tale story about Caitlin and Liam. Caitlin, has faked it and just hopes for the one thing she has never had. An orgasm! Liam, her new boss, might be up for the challenge. The attraction is undeniable and sparks fly, but can he give her she has never had before? This is a good story with likable characters. I enjoyed the well developed plot and how their story develops.

Getting Off by Abby Green was defiantly spicy hot but it also had an okay storyline. This was a quick read but the end still seemed a bit rush.

You might think that Getting Off by Abby Green is just another standard one-night stand kinda story, but you'd be wrong. Sure, you're expecting steamy smexy times and a "relationship" that goes a bit deeper than just a random one-time hookup. And you get that.

That, and so much more.

Caitlin Ryan is no virgin, but she's never had an orgasm, not even the self-induced kind. So when she meets sexy tattooed Liam, she's not surprised when their night of passion fizzles out for her. But, he is.
"You could have fooled me, in fact you almost did. I'm not so arrogant to think I can make a woman come every time, but that's definitely the most convincing fake orgasm I've ever witnessed."

Not wanting to face her "issue," she sends him away, sort of hoping to never see him again. She runs into him when she's looking for a job, and he offers her one at his bar. They agree to not mix business with pleasure, but you know how that goes. They can't stay away from each other.
"You're the one who came in here. You kissed me.

...

His mouth twisted. "If I hadn't, the whole place would have exploded with the tension between us."

Both Caitlin and Liam are determined not to get involved. But how long can they hold out before giving in to the force that's pulling them together?

I liked this story and these characters, especially Liam. He was cocky and handsome, and he said "fecking." (Which reminds me it's time for a re-read of Volition.)

There were a few things I didn't like (the overuse of the word moist and the fact that her clitoris keeps "vibrating" comes to mind), but overall this was a fun story. It was hot, but had meaning. I really loved the characters and would definitely be down for more happenings at Sullivan's bar.

This story is okay for a quick, cute, sexy read.

I almost quit reading after just a few pages though because I was bothered by the description of the couple's initial attraction to each other. I find it ridiculous when people first see each other and have some absurd physical reaction. Sweating, loss of breath, immediate sexual arousal so intense they have to leave the room. Really? That's a bit much. And her "vibrating clitoris" was mentioned three times in four pages (do editors not work on these stories?) - and this is all caused just from sitting at the bar stool next to this guy. Oh, and I did I mention this the characters has never had an orgasm before in her life, but she's that turned on by simply looking at a guy sitting next to her.

I thought the writing got a little better after that initial meeting. As I said, it turned out to be a cute story. New girl in the city meets a guy in a bar, takes him back to her place and has sex, but no orgasm. Evening ends awkwardly with each of them hoping to never see each other again. Then new girl walks into a bar looking for a job and guess who owns the place? And of course, they end up together again, and this time, guy is on a mission, as you might imagine. Had some very sexy scenes.

One other thing that bothered me though was the mention of Liam having some dark sexual history. For such a short story, it seemed unnecessary to introduce that storyline. He's a 29 year old attractive guy, working at a bar in New York City, he doesn't need to have a mean girlfriend in his past to provide him with a reason to have commitment issues.

As I said, story was okay, for a quick read.

This is a fun read. Though the story is quite short, the author successfully mixes steamy with sweet--one of my favorite combinations as a reader. This is also probably one of the most concisely written romances that I've read in a while. By that, I mean that the main characters are written in such a way as to make me care about them and their relationship in fewer than 100 pages. The inclusion of Caitlin's and Liam's respective family histories helps round them out as characters and keeps them from coming across as flat.

One of the only things I disliked is that the dialogue sometimes crosses over when it shouldn't. That is, Liam is American and Caitlin is Irish, but sometimes Liam uses phrases that are distinctly UK, in my opinion. It doesn't happen often enough to be distracting, though. Also, something I did find jarring is that the narrative style changes partway through the story. It goes back and forth from first person point of view to third person, then back again. I think I would've preferred for it to stay third person throughout.

With novellas, I'm not a huge fan of a definite Happily Ever After--I'm fine with a Happily For Now--so I think the author wrapped up the ending more tightly than necessary. That being said, it really is a fun story with relatable characters and I would recommend this book as well as this author.

Harlequin has been releasing these Cosmo Red-Hot Reads for a while now, and they have been kind of hit and miss for me. Some of them have been really fun reads that I have enjoyed, and others I think could have benefited from being longer in length and because of that the characters and I never really bonded. I did like this book, I liked Caitlin and I liked Liam. I thought it was a run read, quick and easy, and I felt like there was enough character development within the book to make the novella work.

So Caitlin has just moved from Dublin to the Big Apple and the first thing she does when she is there is have a one night stand with a hot and sexy guy, Liam. Only Liam ends up not being so much of a one night stand. Apparently Liam is the kind of guy who doesn’t appreciate it when a woman he is with fakes an orgasm. Liam is beyond shocked when he finds out she has never had an orgasm and proposes a weekend of fun times in order to make sure Caitlin finally gets to experience the big O.

This novella is much more heavy on the between the sheets action then some other romances, but I didn’t think it detracted from the story of these two people, there is definitely a sweet romance going on between the two of them and its fun to read it and experience it with them. If you are looking for steamy short read then this might just be the one for you.

Caitlin Ryan is too strong emotionally and it’s blocked her physically. Unable to fully commit her emotional self to anyone, it’s prevented her from being able to reach orgasm with any partner….until now. There’s something about Liam that calls to every single part of her and she’s not sure if she should be terrified or exhilarated.

Liam doesn’t want a relationship. He practically enjoys being emotionally shut off to women and only using them when his body sees fit…until he meets an equally sexy and frustrating Irish girl. She makes him want to confide in her, to break his rules for her, and to just be with her.

The sex is HOT! The emotional attachment is just enough to make the story, but not overwhelm it. Overall, if you want a short, sexy, and entrancing read then Getting Off should definitely be added to your reading list. It’s thoroughly enjoyable and definitely hits the spot.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: I was laughing out of the humiliation I felt for Caitlin when she woke up to discover she wasn’t exactly ‘alone’ in her dreamy endeavor.

My Favorite Moment: A simple confession…or two, and the results that come from them.

Review
Phewwwwww...This book is HAWT with a capital H!!! From the very beginning it's sexy and flirty and gets you fired up to keep reading. My only issues with it were that some parts that I felt were important were skimmed over since it was a short story and then others were elaborated on unnecessarily considering it's not a full length novel, but most importantly for me was that it just wasn't long enough!!! Sure the characters get their happily for now ending, but I wanted more. I wanted to find out how they get their happily ever after!!! I'm hoping this book is a prelude to another one from Abby Green, because her writing and story arc are right on point and I want to know what happened to Caitlin's brother and if they ever find him. But overall this story is fast paced, seriously sexy and hit all the marks for me, despite its short length.

Unexpectedly sweet, spicy and excellently written. In Getting Off ,as the title so succinctly states, our female lead, Caitlyn Ryan can't seem to find that big O. Regardless of whom or what she's doing. Going to New York for a new start after graduation seems like a good idea especially when she lays eyes on Liam. Liam Sullivan, is attracted on first sight of the Irish hottie as soon as she sits beside him in a bar. His ideas on relationship has been soured by his ex and Caitlyn's the first one to actually ignite that often lost passion in him. Easy enough to get into a one night stand, until Caitlyn still can't get off and fakes it which Liam isn't too happy about. What happens next culminates into a weekend that's steamy enough to burn the place down. The story is short, but the characters are still well developed, nothing is crammed everything seems seamless, the progression of the relationship, the steamy sex with some elements of light D/s as well as the in between all worked. This was a fun, lighthearted and steamy read which contemporary romance readers would surely like.

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning.

My Thoughts:

Bring on all the Cosmo books, please and thank you! I could pick up one of these a day and it wouldn't be enough. Abby Green was able to hook me into this storyline from the start and it kept going until the end.

Caitlin and Liam meet in a bar one night and their attraction is undeniable. After they go their separate ways, she never expects to see him again... until she walks into the bar she's going to work at and discovers he's her new boss. Cue the awkwardness. It doesn't take long for the passion to strike up again. I mean, who could resist, am I right? They had a connection upon meeting, so why wouldn't it bloom into something again? And it does.

Getting Off is a wild and sweet ride. I always enjoy the 'he's my boss' stories when the first encounter is before they discover the reality. Caitlin and Liam are fun and funny together. Abby Green may get a repeat read from me!

My Rating: Very Good

This was a pretty quick, fun read. It was pretty short so everything seemed to move a little quickly and I feel like we missed out on some things because of the length. Ultimately, I liked Liam, although I didn't feel like I really got to know him. There’s a lot I’d like to learn about him and his world. I also didn't really feel like I got to know Caitlin, though I knew more about her than Liam. I would have loved more, but what I got, I definitely enjoyed. They were ridiculously hot together and more than worth the read. I do enjoy these Cosmo Red-Hot Reads. And I will definitely be looking for more from Abby Green in the future.

‘I knew that no matter what happened, this man had given me a gift.’

Holy smokin’ hot novellas! Getting Off is exactly what it sounds like and is a prime example of what makes Cosmo Red Hot Reads one of the sexiest lines of stories from Harlequin.

Starting with page one, there was no doubt in my mind that this was going to be a novella full of lust, the hunt for the big O, and lots of fun but intense love scenes. Author Abby Green did a great job creating characters that shared a past of disappointment and frustration with their families, yet who were very different in their sexual history.

I WANT MORE!! More Liam. More Caitlin. More orgasms! More Abby Green! Just give me more!!! and I definitely need to see if Caitlin finds and reconnects with her brother!

This was a first read for me by Abby Green and I was immediately drawn to her writing style and her H/h. What a great set of supporting characters she introduced us to as well! I hope that we get more of this group of New York natives and the transplants that we were introduced to and those we have yet to meet!

I'm heading now to look into ways to stalk Abby Green! READ THIS Cosmo Red-Hot Read - you will NOT be disappointed!!!

I actually really enjoyed this. For a novella it's impressive that I felt the whole effect of their relationship. HOWEVER, I'm seriously hoping this is just a start to a series because there are way too many unanswered questions for me to be satisfied. If the author isn't doing another book then they really should have removed some stuff they weren't going to provide a resolution to.
