Fiction. Amelia has the ability to levitate. During her wanderings through dream galleries, costumed performances, and future libraries she meets Clara (an elusive photographer), Sebastion (part human, part lion) and a chorus of cynics who exist only in partial bodies. "Part mystery and part Oz story, ACTS OF LEVITATION is a narrative of exquisite disappearances and re-appearances... As always, Laynie Browne's work is ephemeral, complex, and alluring"--Lisa Jarnot.
This is one of my favorite books of all time. I could re-read it over and over and find something new. I have so much to say as I feel that it is only upon finishing this book that you are able to decipher its entire meaning, it does not make sense completely until you have finished the last page. Beautifully surreal and haunting, it is about the discovery of the self.
one of my favorite books ever. dreamy, surreal, intricate, with repeating images and motifs that swallow me up and new secrets that unfold on every reread.
