Jared and Esme. A lot goes on in this one... maybe too much. Esme became a wolf, with the help of her Doctor/Scientist brother, to cure her of her cancer. Now that she is cured, her brother wants to make her human again. But then the bad guys, who want to create 'superior' humans, strike; kidnapping her brother. So it's about damn time her mate shows up.
Jared took 6 months to get to his mate, after she'd been shot in a previous book . He had a lot to deal with but I still felt like she kept coming second in importance to him, after his pack. He was raised to be the Alpha of his pack from a young age, so I could understand his making that mistake. But I didn't think he learned better. There was never any question of her following him back to Quebec. He never shared his thoughts about anything with Esme. He didn't even tell her why he took so long to come to her. Esme had been sheltered by her parents and then her brother for years because of her illness and then out of habit, I guess. So I felt bad for her that she never gets a chance to spread her wings without 'some guy' telling her how it's gonna be.
Anyways, there's new wolves that need new homes and help dealing with their new circumstances. There's the set up for the next book, but it doesn't take away from Jared and Esme's story too much.
So overall I enjoyed it but didn't find it particularly romantic. It's a safe read OM/OW wise but rather tragic
I love reading about the Siberian werewolves. The pack and their cousins have expanded into Paris and Quebec. But each book talks about some members of the pack who had their stories in prior books. I really like this. It is like reading about family. This book's story centers on Esme who was made a wolf by her brother. The brother, Norris, is a scientist. He injected Esmeralda with werewolf DNA in the prior book to cure her cancer. Now Esme is a wolf shifter. But now Norris and Esme are in danger from an evil group who want the technique Norris has developed. And Esme's mate is far away, not having claimed her yet. Great storyline. Great book.
