Dare to Love #2

Touch & Go

Rate this book
USA Today bestselling author Mira Lyn Kelly cranks up the heat for two lifelong friends whose most secret longings come true in every delectable way.

Vivacious and successful, Ava Meyers is living her dream life, except for one thing: Ever since childhood, she’s been in love with her best friend . . . and she’s never admitted it. Back then, Sam Farrow was a damaged young man with a tough past. Now he’s supremely confident, super-sexy, and totally untouchable—until the night when Sam pretends to be Ava’s boyfriend to save her from some unwanted attention. In a moment of weakness, Ava finds out that a long friendship is no match for blistering sexual chemistry.

After years of denying his own feelings, Sam finds that one amazing night with Ava isn’t enough to chase away all the pent-up fantasies. So he proposes they spend a few weeks driving each other wild, exhausting their every desire, and then return to their perfect platonic relationship like nothing ever happened. But Sam’s plan has one fatal flaw: the part where they give each other up. Because the more they let go of their inhibitions, the more they’re tempted to never go back.

FIVE FAVOURITE STARS.

"There were lines friends didn't cross ..."

description

I'll try to be as sensible as possible and make this review sound vaguely like how I feel after finishing this book because right now I'm feeling silly, giddy and like an overly excited romance addict that just got one hell of a faultless love fix. Everything (and I honestly mean every single word) about this scrumptious novel appealed to my crack addict like addiction to a dirty flirty romance. If somebody was interested enough to ask me what my favourite type of book to read is I now have the perfect answer, 'This book'. From page one I was 100% committed. 'Touch & go' was a real treat for me to read and I never wanted to get to the end (Well, obviously I needed a conclusion but you hear what I'm saying, right?). Nothing makes me happier than discovering a 'new to me' author and falling in love with what they have to offer the literary world and that's exactly what has happened here reading this fantastic romantic novel. Mira Lyn Kelly is now on my reading hit list and I'll be one clicking this authors past treasures that I've been missing out on. Here's the rest of my over zealous reading thoughts ...

What's it all about?
Take two friends, one who is desperately in lusty, nobody can ever compare to him love. The other needs a knock around the head to realise that he needs to open his eyes to the possibility of love. Yes my friends here is the perfect story of unrequited love. The undeniable heartache and battle of friends to let's be lovers. (Insert sigh here). Expect chemistry by the bucketload and just the right amount of angst to make things interesting and a surprising amount of heart thumping, naughty action between the sheets. Add that all together and you end up with the story of Ava Meyers and Sam Farrow.

description

What did I love?
I have to admit once again that I adored every single page of this novel, nothing about it made me find fault or doubt. From the toe curling tingles I experienced from the first kiss (oh that kiss, fabulous memories) to the conclusion that knocked my socks off this author stole my heart. Faultlessly endearing and as sexy as my Jamie Dornan board on Pinterest I could not have asked for more. You may be thinking I've read this trope of book before what can possibly be five star about it? Well I can say with conviction that I am always chasing that bubbly tummy can't wait to pick my kindle up again feeling and this book provided that for me, it was romance as it's very finest and I'm just dying for the time to re read and enjoy these characters all over again. The lead characters, Ava and Sam were everything that I look for when searching for the perfect connection between characters. They have an out of this world friendship which the author showcased thoroughly as the books progressed, there was definitely no room to doubt the authors ability to grab you into their world. Sam the hero was a little rough round the edges and provided entertainment and constant swooning and Ava is the girl we can all relate to a little bit lost and vulnerable but strong when she needed to be. My heart was in my mouth at times and I don't mind admitting that I shed a tear or two. All in all a superb friends to lovers romp that had me smiling ear to ear.

description

Final thoughts ...
Fellow romance addicts what more can I say? If you love a book that will keep you on your toes, make you swoon like crazy and ensure that your heart rate is kept at a galloping pace then this is the book for you. This is going straight to my favourites list and I can say with absolute conviction that it includes one of the best angry/hate sex scenes I've ever read (and I've been reading romance for as long as I could read). Sam and Ava have now got a special place in my book heart as a couple that I loved to read about. Do I recommend? Well it's kind of bloody obvious by now, yes yes yes. Will I delete you as a friend if you don't end up loving it as much as I have? Well probably not but I may be a little sulky about it. I can't express how much I loved it, loved it, loved it. I hope you will too, enjoy ... Kisses.

Ava and Sam are friends since childhood. Ava is secretly in love with Sam from the moment they met but despite Ava being the most important person in the world to Sam, he’s completely oblivious to that. One night changes everything…
After that they keep wanting more, so they decide to have a physical relationship for some time and after go back to being just best-friends
But after they have a taste of each other… can they forget everything and go back to just being friends?

I love the “friends-to-lovers” storyline and this book was a extremely well accomplished example of that.
It was engaging, very well written ad with a strong plot that keep us addicted to the last page. There were some “decisions” trough the book that I particularly didn't like, but overall it was a great reading.
If you’re looking for a sweet and steamy romantic story… this book is a great choice.

Rating: 4,5 Stars.
Characters Development: Sam was an extremely sweet hero, just how caring he was with Ava was delightful to read. Not to mention he was sexy and a little broken, exactly how we like them. Ava was also a very sweet heroine, yes, she as a little insecure but it was understandable giving the circumstances. I really liked the supporting characters, I guess I have to read Maggie and Tyler’s story now!!

What do you say, Ave," he asked, searching her eyes. "Feel like making a really bad decision with me?"

If you're looking for a sexy and feel-good friends-to-lovers romance, then this book is an absolutely must read. It had it all; humor, steam, MCs that you will root for from the very beginning, fantastic secondary characters, and a great plot. In short? I absolutely loved it!
Aww, Muffin-top, you know you like my special pet names for you. We're in love. It's what we do."
"You're right," she agreed, going up on her toes to murmur at him. "It IS what we do, my little Dippin' Dot. My sweet gherkin. My darling TIC-TAC."

Sam and Ava have been friends for over 20 years. Ever since nine year old Sam stumbled on eight year old Ava begging her older brother to play hide and seek with her while escaping his tumultuous and violent home life. Sam envied Ava and Ford's life and dreamed to be a part of it. Being abandoned by his own mother and having a drunk for a father, he was welcomed into the Meyers's fold and treated as one of their own. While young Sam dreamed of marrying Ava when he's older just so he can truly be a part of their family. But the Sam of the now is much too terrified to cross any lines with Ava beyond friendship for fear of losing her. He knows the risks of taking it further, and the last thing he wants to do is take the chance and lose his best friend forever.
Because still, after all these years, she felt guilt over her lack of action when the truth was, she'd been the one to save him. In a thousand different ways, she'd saved his life.

Ava has been in love with Sam since she was just a little girl, but she's become great at hiding it. They live in the same building and share every aspect of each other's life. She knows Sam's reputation with women, and they're definitely been enough of them. But desperate times call for desperate measures and when a co-worker of hers decides to be even pushier in his advances, she knows she needs help. What better way then to pretend she has a boyfriend and bring him to the party? And when everyone backs out on her at the last minute, Sam is there to save the day. Sam is not one to back away from a challenge, and when they really have to sell their lie, what's a kiss between friends?

One kiss soon turns into something that begins to burn hot and out of control. What's a few fantasies shared between friends? They can keep their feelings out of it and not ruin their friendship. They're adults after all, right?
...she knew, KNEW, all he really wanted was sex. A physical release that was just a step up from what his right had had to offer. And what she wanted was EVERYTHING.

I love a good friends-to-lovers trope, and this was definitely one of the best ones I've read. I loved the banter between Sam and Ava. They were such endearing and fantastic characters. Sure they had their stubborn moments, but it just worked. And when they're together? They absolutely burn up the pages together. The chemistry between them is pure sizzling.

I also really loved all the secondary characters; Maggie and Tyler from Truth or Dare, Ford, Tony, they were all the icing on an already great cake, and I really hope to see this series continue with Ford or Tony next.

I loved this book from beginning to finish. It was humorous, sexy, and entertaining as hell. Pure indulgence.

One of my favorite themes in romance stories is the friends-to-lovers premise. There’s already a certain depth to the romance because of the friendship, and then when the characters realize that the one they’ve always looked for is right there next to them...that final fall in love always warms my heart. So in other words, books with this premise will almost always be winners for me, and to an extent, so was this book! It was lighthearted with only a few moments of angsty conflict, and the characters were cute and sweet. The writing was also catchy and had a flirty undertone which definitely fit the story. But on the other hand, this book lacked a special something that made it hard for me to give it a higher rating. I personally think there is a greater focus on physical intimacy here than the emotional connection, so that friendship bond I was talking about earlier? It wasn’t very strong here, and though I was told repeatedly how close Sam and Ava were, I never felt it. Regardless of that fact, this book is a quick, fast-paced read and a great break from the dark, heavy books I’ve been reading lately, so I definitely did enjoy this story.

description

The story starts off with Ava freaking out over how to ditch a suitor who’s a borderline stalker. After running the alternatives through her head, she finally decides on getting her best friend Sam to be her pretend boyfriend for the time being to direct unwanted attention away from her. Sam on the other hand couldn’t be more delighted with this turn of events. He’s dreamed and fantasized about Ava for years, the one girl he could never have, and sees this sham as a very real opportunity to get close to her in ways he’s never been able to before. What he doesn’t know is that Ava has been in love with him all along, ever since they were kids, and with years of pent-up sexual tension between them, they both agree to a no-strings fling while keeping their friendship intact.

The first thing I have to mention here is holy hotness, this book is steamy! I would venture to say that almost half of the book is crazy monkey sex where both Ava and Sam act out all their hidden fantasies with each other. And while I did have a blast with those scenes, I also wish the author took a little more time to solidify their friendship that’s mentioned over and over but I never felt. There are many flashback scenes that did help make me see Ava and Sam’s connection from the time they were kids to present day, but they were inserted in the most random and inappropriate places it was jarring to read. So in those terms, the story flow was disrupted a few times. But by the time I got to the end, the characters won me over, and though wrapped up quickly, the final few chapters in the story were my favorite. They hit me with feels and had that oomph factor I was looking for in friends-to-lovers romances.

description

All in all, this book was a light and romantic read that had many high and fun moments, but just didn’t quite hit the standard I have for books with this same premise. It was certainly enjoyable and provided a nice escape from reality, but it wasn’t a book I fell completely in love with the characters and plot – though if you’re looking for a light read, this one is worth checking out.

Ava and Sam have been best friends since they were little kids. They are besties for over two decades. And they're about to change things between them when they will pretend to be together just to stop a stalker who's having a crush on Ava.

A kiss is enough to make them thread in dangerous waters. An unknown territory that so far it was just a product for fantasies. A kiss that turns into more. Suddenly they can't keep their hands of each other and they agree to get into a friends with benefits kind of relationship.

But are things so easy? When you've built a strong friendship all these years ago, a platonic relationship that never crossed lines, while Ava was in love with him since she was little? How is she going to keep her sanity when Sam doesn't want more?

Will things work out of them or will they destroy them?

When I started reading this book I was so excited because I always love a good friends-to-lovers kind of story! At first I was loving it! The steamy passion between them, the flashbacks, the insecurity and all the feelings made me want to devour this!!

But sadly things started changing around the half of the book. I think it lost the charm that it had on me at first. I was getting mad at the MCs and especially with Sam, because I thought that Ava's actions were reasonable and I could understand her I believe that this book would be so much better without the drama that it contained. Maybe it wasn't so much, but it was more than I expected and it was a bummer for me.

Overall, it's a nice story and the writing was amazing. Expect some really hot scenes!! I think you should give it a chance and hopefully enjoy it even more than I did! :)

I just couldn't resist a book that has my favorite trope on it. The friends-to-lovers trope is as old as romance. Some may find it tired but I find it comforting. And when it's done right? Amazing! The connection, the history, the angst between two friends who are taking a leap of faith into the unknown is something else.

"Jesus Ava, that blush is going to be the end of me. I shouldn't be able to make you do it. I shouldn't know I can."

Ava and Sam have been best friends for what feels like forever, a deep bond forged over time and circumstance. Living in the same building, they naturally are drawn together, doing everything a couple in love would do except for two big things; be in love and make love. Or at least for Sam, it isn't like that; they were only touchy feely, cuddle with a movie, cook a meal and eat together kinda friends. Ava has learned to mask what she truly feels for Sam, to keep things as they are, but when Sam has to pretend to be madly in love with Ava to get a stalker off her back, the one thing she's wanted and feared happened and now she doesn't know what to do about it.
There were lines friends didn't cross. Lines that started above the knee and ended below the belly button. Panty lines. Bust lines. And most importantly, lip lines.

The KISS, that changed everything...a kiss that can't be forgotten, a kiss that makes them want more, but how....it isn't like that between them, right?!?
"What do you say, Ave," he asked, searching her eyes. "Feel like making a really bad decision with me?"

Taking her only chance in living out her deepest and wildest fantasies, they agree to keep it simple, keep each other sated, and agree to nothing more but sate their desires. The agreement, trading off fantasies until the well runs dry ...
"Our mutual problem isn't that we gave in to a night between us, but after twenty years of close proximity, we thought a single night would be enough."

But there really is no such thing as best friends with benefits and it's only a matter of time before everything crashes and burns...

Touch & Go is a best friends with benefits kind of story with something special mixed in. The relationship was solid between Sam and Ava, making it a tale worth reading. They new what buttons to press to piss each other off, what to say or do to annoy each other and in time they learned what it takes to satisfy each other. Sam was someone who is easy to love, his far from perfect childhood added to his appeal and made me want to wrap him up and never let him go. Ava is smart and funny, but she kept it all in not wanting to ruin what they had all the while Sam is blinded with everything they already had.

How can two people be so close but blind at the same time. I would have been content with their story with out the added drama of their feelings in the end, making me want to scream and hit someone. I couldn't really blame Ava, and have to give her respect for not settling but Sam was completely oblivious to it all. Regardless I enjoyed this fun sexy slightly frustrating read.

3.5 There's No Such Thing As Friends With Benefits Stars

Ava and Sam have been best friends for 20 years. They spend their days together, the have the same group of friends, they practically live together. What they never had was a romantic relationship. They are just like siblings. Yeah...right!

Ava has been in love with Sam for years so when a "fake" date to get a persistent guy out of her back ends with a couple of steaming hot kisses and a proposal for some casual sex she decides to experience what she's been dreaming of since she was old enough to know what sex is. She has watched Sam with countless women, she has seen him go out with them for a couple hours and then come home to her to watch a movie and eat snacks, she has felt the sting of each and every one of his hook-ups while she stayed firmly and decisively in the friend zone. So would it be so wrong to know what it means to be with him for once? He never has to know about her feelings and they can go back to being best friends after...

That's exactly what Sam and Ava have. They are best friends, they tell each other everything(well except for that whole "I'm in love with you" thing) and they are always there for one another. And Sam is definitely what I would call a man-whore and he actually has no regrets for sleeping with Ava without intending to have a real relationship with her. This was my first problem with the book. Usually this kind of theme in a book would be accompanied with at least a small twinge of regret from the guys part for doing this with his best friend, but Sam was actually okay with it until he learned that Ava was in love with him the whole time. He thought that they would have a few tumbles in the sheets and then go back to how they were. Delusional much?

And that is the inevitable realisation Ava comes to at some point in the book. Although not exactly true... Sam has issues, because we can't have a man-whore who is a man-whore just because he is. He has to have a fucked up childhood and commitment issues brought by mommy. So she decides to stop this from going farther the worst way possible, by completely betraying his trust. Even though I did think that this part was overdramatised I still didn't like Ava's way of dealing with things. Instead of acting like a mature woman she ran away.

Generally the book was the same old "friends-> friends with benefits-> love forever" story. All my whining is because it had nothing original to recommend it. It was cute, had some drama, gave me a few laughs, a couple of eyerolls and stood out NOT AT ALL. The previous one although not exactly over the top original, had some things that made it stand out from the mass. It nice if you want an averagely fun book for a few hours that you're gonna forget even exists after a couple days.

I did love the ending. Not the epilogue(although I am looking forward to Ford's book) but the realisation/puppies/birth thing.

4.25 Epic Friends-To-Lovers Stars!

 photo 36CAF27E-C8C2-40F6-AB43-43D0FB1A7FDE_zpszye5vp3s.jpg

Touch and Go
was a pleasantly enjoyable surprise. The whole friends-to-lovers trope seems to be around forever and I can usually take it in doses but this one was just different.

Ava and Sam have been friends for twenty years. Growing up together, he was like her family's adopted third child...except she's never looked at him as a brother. Not that HE knows that. It's her biggest kept secret. They're as close as two people can be...live in the same graystone, spend most evenings watching movies curled up together (after he's done with his shag of the night). She purposefully doesn't date much due to her love of Sam, he purposefully does date, like serial dates, for the same reason.

When Ava asks Sam to pretend to be her boyfriend to fend off an annoying coworker's advances, the lines quickly get blurred. Are they really pretending because that kiss was seriously the BEST either has had...and more. What they act out for the benefit of fending off annoying Steve gradually stokes a flame that threatens to burn out of control...threatening everything they hold sacred in their perfect friendship.

*******************************************************

Touch and Go was seriously steamy. I mean, the scene with them acting out they're lovers in front of her coworker was perfectly executed and SMOKING HOT! Holy Moses, she builds their angsty tug of war chemistry to explosive levels! I loved it!

 photo 35A49AD5-C208-45BB-AD16-0C1EFE8CF2A0_zpscqiyzxux.gif

The author does a superb job with character development. She gradually drip feeds the reader their history, dating all the way back to their childhood. You feel their connection and truly understand the wariness of moving their relationship to the next level. They have everything to lose...but this sexual pull was too strong.

Sweet Jesus, there's a scene where he wears his tool belt over as she has a "cabinet crisis"...holy smokes that was hot! The visual alone!!

Yah..... Oh, I was writing a review, wasn't I? Back to it.

Can they be both...friends AND lovers? Is this about fantasies and just getting each other out of their systems or is it more? Could this be their smartest move to turn physical or their biggest mistake...

Loved this book! I do have to admit towards the very end I was having a bit of issues with things but I won't spoil it. I didn't read the first book in the series (which you really don't have to), but I plan to read it ASAP because now I know what this author has to offer her readers....great character development, a great cast of characters I'm sure travel through each installment, steaming sex scenes, and an all-around enjoyable read. Looking forward to Ford's book!

”What do you say, Ave,” he asked, searching her eyes. “Feel like making a really bad decision with me?”

Lordy be, where to start? I was first introduced to Ava and Sam in the first book of this series, Truth or Dare and I immediately loved them both. The ease they seemed to have with one another and the twenty plus years of friendship had my heart beating a little faster because, let’s face it, I’m a friends to lovers whore when it comes to the overused tropes. When I saw their story was next AND being offered on Netgalley, three words came to mind almost immediately. Sign. Me. Up!

Ava and Sam, along with Ava’s brother Ford, have been best friends for twenty years and the three of them, but especially Sam and Ava, have developed bonds that go above and beyond the normal friendship boundaries. They all live in the same building owned by Ford and Sam and Ava spend virtually all of their free time together. The one thing these two never do, though, is the nasty. No kissing, no feeling each other up, no sexual contact of any kind. Sam might take his many and varied lady people out for a good time but at the end of the evening it’s him and Ava hanging together. When Sam takes one for the team and makes out with Ava to ward off a coworker that can’t take a hint, BAM! Things begin to change for the two.

The first part of this book was a little ho hum for me and I was thinking I had a 3.5 star read on my hands. The humor and sarcasm I loved about the first book in the series seemed to be missing here. I kept wondering how these two kept hooking up and not delving deeper. Ava has supposedly been in love with Sam for twenty years, had been witness to his manwhore ways first hand and seemed to accept the fact she’d just be another name on his list. How could this be? And then everything did a 180 and I was floored. These two went from holding everything back to holding nothing back and the feels almost overwhelmed me and the leaking tears thing that sometimes happens when I’m in the middle of an emotional read took over. Ava was an emotionally stable woman but she put herself out there and that always carries a risk. Sam is nowhere near emotionally stable and that caused some drama, albeit believably so. I think under normal circumstances the drama of the last half of the book wouldn’t have affected me the way it did, but the unexpectedness of it made for a better read for me.

He’d never had to lay his heart bare and ask for the whole of hers…because he’d already had it.

I’m happy to say this series has been nothing but good for me. I can’t wait to see what kind of awesome, if not quirky, lady Ford ends up with next.

4.5 - It was never just a dance. Stars!

Book two in the Dare to Love Series delivers everything you would want in a romantic read. Mira Lyn Kelly has such a vibrant and ‘to the point’ writing style it really delivers on the emotions, whether they be happy or sad.

He was the best guy. He was her best friend.

Sam and Ava, featured heavily in the first book in the series, being that they lived in the same building as Maggie, and Ava is her best friend. What you don’t really see, or even get a hint of whilst reading that book, is the depth of feelings, or the length of time that Ava has had them for her best friend, Sam. Added to that, I think what really makes this book as good as it is are the flashbacks you see through Sam, to his childhood and how awful it was, until the day Ava and her brother Ford invited him into their lives. He became an extension of the Meyers family, and they offered him the shelter and love that he was sorely missing from with his own family.

The best friends to lovers trope is tried and tested, and when written well is one of my absolute favorites. The author did that, in fact she exceeded my expectations. There was humor, angst, romance, laughter, drama and most importantly a well thought out and beautifully put together story-line.

”Only took us twenty years, but I think we finally figured it out.”

I wasn’t a big fan of Ava in the first book Truth or Dare, but she really does come into her own in Touch & Go there is more to her than you would expect, an extremely intelligent woman, that has held back her own feelings and emotions to ensure that others do not suffer, and the man she loves does not lose the love and security he deeply craves. Sam, you cannot help but fall for the guy, happy-go-lucky on the surface, when you see into his past and a given his internal justifications for his feelings and why he holds back on going after what he really wants, had me sniffling a few times as the book progressed.

"There are walls in my life I shouldn't have built."

This is a series I have whole heartedly fallen in love with, the characters remind me a little of the Friends TV show set-up, what with living in the same building and having such closely interconnecting lives. I really hope the author has more tales to tell about this group, although I have everything crossed that the relatively elusive Ford Meyers is the next one to have his story told.

Whenever I think about this book, the first scene that comes to my mind is the tool belt scene! Oh boy..

Sex scenes in this one were amazing, the story was good and I liked both Ava and Sam!

I rated it 3.5 stars because the last part of the book was a bit meh IMO.. I struggled a little with Sam at the end, but I was pleased with the ending!

Touch & Go is book two in the Dare to love series, but it can be easily read as a standalone.

Fans of friends to lovers stories should read this one. Recommended read!

Ava and Sam have been best friends for as long as they can remember.
They do everything together. They know each other secrets... exept for one. Over the years, there is a thing that Ava has managed to hide, it's her love for Sam.

Sam on the other hand believed for a long time that he would marry his best friend but not wanting to lose his happiness and after the warning of his friend and Ava's brother, Ford, he preferred not to think of this eventuality anymore.

One day, Ava needs someone to accompagny her to a business event because one of her colleague won't understand she's not interested in him.

As a last resort, she has to ask Sam to go with her. And one thing leading to another, the two friends are led to kissing. And that is the beginning of events that won't stop.

Because what happens when you let a few fantasies take over? What happens when you realize that a kiss can change everything and you don't want to stop either.

description

After all Ava is an adult and she would not let her heart get more involved. And for Sam, Ava's friendship is too valuable to risk it. So as two consenting adults, they indulge in their sexual desire, promising to stop as soon as one or the other feels he want more.

What do you say,Ave? Feel like making a really bad decision with me?

I don't read a lot of books where friends become lovers because I find they can be too predictable. And then, in general, it brought the same questions/ answer: "I don't want to risk our friendship,... and we quiclky round in circles. isible.

What I loved and what was interesting in this book, was how the author gave us Ava and Sam's story. How we discover their friendship and how we understand better their connection.

Ava is a determined woman who is surrounded by friends she considers her family. The only thing it lacks is a man to share her life with. She has tried to see other people but she is so focus on Sam that no other man can compare.
Sam is a man who knows what he wants, what he likes and has two valuable things in his eyes :Ford whom he considers as his brother and Ava .... whom he obviously not consider like his sister at all. Nobody has managed to catch his eyes because he isn't really interested in a relationship. He saw the result on his parents wedding and he doesn't really want to experience the same thing.

The sex scenes between both are hot from the start! One immediately feels sexual attraction is perfect and it literally explodes. Sam has a dirty mouth and he almost give her no time off

description

Of course at some point, Ava's feelings are too strong to control. So at this point, what should be done? Stop and act as if nothing had happened? Or continue and to try something more? Risking their friendship at what expense?

You'll have to read to find out ;)

This book is the second in the Dare to Love series but it can be read as a stand alone. The only thing is that the previous couple, Maggie and Tyler take a small part in this book. So if you don't want to know what happen with them it's best to read it first. I haven't read Truth or Dare before and it doesn't bother me. I still want to know what exactly happen with them.

4 Friends to Lovers Stars!!

I'd suggest reading Truth or Dare: A Dare to Love Novel; the first book in the series before reading this one. This series is about a group of close friends and the characters we met in book one play a big role in this book.

This book is Ava's and Sam's book it’s a friends to lover’s story, Their best friends and confide in each other about everything (except their true feelings for one another). I really liked Ava's backbone and I love the relationship between all the friends.

Ava is a strong, emotionally stable woman but it seemed to me that she was the one who always took the risk and put herself out there. Sam is nowhere near emotionally stable, and it caused issues and drama that I found very frustrating at times. Ava loves Sam and has been in love with him forever, and no doubt about it Sam loves Ava but his upbringing has forced him to close down from emotions, and I understand his reluctance. However; when the opportunity arises, he eagerly agrees to a hook-up (and lots of them!) but love? Not something he sees for himself until Ava…..

”What do you say, Ava,” he asked, searching her eyes. “Feel like making a really bad decision with me?”

Looking forward to Ford’s book next, I’m curious to who will be able to catch Ford’s attention.

“What do you say, Ave,” he asked, searching her eyes. “Feel like making a really bad decision with me?”

3.5 sweet and sexy stars.

I love a friends-to-lovers story, and this book puts a slightly different angle on things to give us a funny, sexy and emotional love story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This book follows on from Truth or Dare, and tells the story of Ava and Sam. Ava and Sam have been best friends since childhood, along with Ava’s big brother, Ford. They have a very close relationship – even living in the same building – and are completely all over each other’s lives, with very little respect for personal boundaries. They share everything, are constantly together, and fully acknowledge the importance of each other in their lives.

But secretly, Ava has been in love with Sam for 20 years. She has never told him, not wanting to jeopardise their friendship, so instead she has had to watch him manwhore himself to the entire city, all the while keeping her feelings a secret and trying her best to move on and find somebody else.

But when Sam steps in as a fake boyfriend for Ava, for the first time ever, things get physical…

“One real kiss and then we’re done?” …
“Yeah. One kiss and then we’re done. But it’s got to be the real deal. No chintzing out on me.”

“Okay … Show me what all the fuss is about.”
“Brace yourself, Ave,” he warned, giving her his cockiest, most devastating grin.

… and from that moment on, everything changes. That one kiss opens up the floodgates to years of repressed lust, and once they get a sample of how amazing they are together, they agree to a friends with benefits situation in order to “burn through our fantasy file”.

Sam is stunned by his physical reaction to Ava. He’s fantasised over the years, but never thought about actually acting on it. He’s not the relationship type, and he wants nothing but the best for Ava – and he knows he’s not it. But their chemistry is electric, so he dives in whole-heartedly. Ava has wanted Sam her whole life, so she revels in finally having him right where she wants him, and even though she knows nothing can come of it, she is happy to take what she can while she can.

It sounds like a predictable plotline, and to some extent it is, but there is an emotional intensity between Ava and Sam that gives their arrangement a different feel to it than I have read in other books. There is a lot of emotion between them and they both openly acknowledge that, and while the love scenes are definitely hot and steamy, from the beginning it feels like more than just sex. They are both well aware that their sleeping together is deepening their relationship and the love they have for each other. It’s just that they have different ideas of what that love actually means… and that’s when things start to get complicated.

“Don’t ask me to treat you like some woman who didn’t mean anything to me, because you aren’t and I can’t.”

I loved the way the conflict played out. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but I thought it was a really realistic unfolding of events, and I was madly flipping pages with my heart pounding and my emotions swinging between excited anticipation and heartbreak. And it leads into a resolution which was all kinds of swoony and had me grinning like a fool.

Ava and Sam are great characters with fantastic chemistry and an amazing relationship that has stretched 20 years. As friends and as lovers, I love them together! The characters introduced in the last book also make an appearance, with a fantastic follow up to Maggie and Tyler’s story, and a few hints dropped about the direction of Ford’s book. They don’t appear in this book as much as they did the last but the jokes and crude banter are still there whenever they are around.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s sweet and sexy, with a gorgeous romance and lots of heart. 3.5 stars.

Touch & Go is extremely hot, and I loved how Sam and Ava had been friends since they were kids, both of them hanging on to their friendship when their hormones told them there could be much more for them in store.

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Touch & Go is one of the best friends to lovers romances I have ever had the pleasure of reading! Sam and Ava had chemistry galore, but they were both hiding behind their long friendship, until that just wasn't possible anymore. When Sam agreed to be Ava's 'date' to a party at her workplace, to keep a colleague from continuing to try to pick her up, they shared one of the hottest kisses in history, and let's just say one thing led to another... But Ava still didn't tell Sam she was in love with him, and had been since she was a little girl. And Sam continued to see his best friend in front of him, even when she pushed all the right buttons when they were having hot sex.

As they continued living out their fantasies, it became more difficult for Ava to keep her heart uninvolved, though, even if I strongly believe her heart was fully engaged from the start. Sam had no interest in other women, even if he usually was a notorious one-night-stand man. Touch & Go also included very strong friendships, where Ava, her brother and their best friends all lived in the same building. This, of course, made things difficult when Ava realized she was never, ever going to get over Sam if she continued to live so close to him. And her life-long dream of getting married, having children, and be with a man who looked at her with love was not something she wanted to let go of.

Written in third person point of view, past tense, but with lots of dialogues, Touch & Go enters the minds of both Ava and Sam, and I really got to know both of them well over the span of the story. And the sweetness of their friendship was just as good as the hotness of their romance, even when Sam continued to be more or less clueless when it came to how much Ava truly wanted from him. If you enjoy friends to lovers in your romances, Touch & Go is definitely a must read! It's extremely well done, my heart is soaring, and I'm fully satisfied while still kind of wanting a little more - but that's only because I'm very greedy.

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

I have so many quotes to choose from it's not even funny!! I'm only sharing three, though, as there really should be some of the story left for you to read yourself ;)

At least not in the context he knew her, anyway. Close as they were - and that was damned close - Ava's sex life was the one place Sam didn't dare to tread, so he didn't know what that mouth of hers was capable of, and he'd made it a lifetime habit not to find out.

Because it would be stupid to hope for Sam to be uncomfortable after a kiss that didn't mean anything. To wish that maybe he'd feel like things couldn't just seamlessly slide back into place. To disrupt a norm she'd spent the majority of her life conditioning herself to accept.

She'd have his friendship, his easy smile and dumb jokes and downtime hanging out watching stupid movies that made them both laugh themselves silly. She'd have what she'd always cherished. Just shy of everything. Something no kiss was worth giving up.

Best friends Sam and Ava have known each other since they were children. When she’s trying to shake off a persistent co-worker, Sam steps up and pretends to be her boyfriend. And then they stop pretending and romance happens….

description
-Friends to lovers done well: The friendship between Sam and Ava is believable and engaging. Their comfort with each other physically and the glimpses of Sam’s past and how Ava always protected him, helped cement their emotional connection and make me root for them to figure it all out.

-Excellent sexual chemistry: From their first sexual encounter through the end, their chemistry is strong and the tension between them when they’re fighting their attraction was well written and enjoyable.

-(Mostly) standalone but part of series: it’s the second book (the first was Truth or Dare) and it’s my favorite so far. You don’t need to read the earlier book to read this one and there is a HEA at the end of each.

-The focus is strictly on the romance: There’s very little that’s shown about their professions (she’s an IP lawyer, he owns his own construction company) beyond the bare minimum.

-Two (emotionally) dumb bunnies: Sam and Ava’s denial of their feelings drove me a bit batty. It was good, and I have a bit of a book hangover right now because I couldn't stop reading. However, I wanted to turn to them and say “Sam, stop turning a blind eye to your love...and Ava, he may be dense, but no man is a mind reader - take a chance and open your mouth, for goodness sake.” It was angst, but the couple of honest conversations would have saved alot of pain if they’d had them earlier.

An enjoyable, slightly angsty read. I’d recommend it for fans of friends to lovers romances. I think it’s the best entry in this series so far, and I’m interested to see where it’s going to go next.

I loved this book! I am a sucker for a friends to lovers story and Ava and Sam are incredible. Friends for more than 20 years, Ava needs to scare off a guy who won't take no for an answer so she pretends to be dating Sam. The chemistry between Ava and Sam is off-the-charts hot. I loved how these two characters were together. This was such a fantastic story and I honestly didn't want it to end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a friends to lovers story! I can't wait to read more books in this series! I hope Ford's story is next!

5 TOTALLY BLEW ME AWAY, I TOTALLY LOVED IT STARS!!!!

This is a story about two, life-long friends whose secret longings for one another begin to emerge after one "supposedly fake" kiss.

Ava needed a date to send a clear message to her very persistent, very interested, work colleague, "Stalker Steve.". A message that would clearly say she was NOT interested. So she asks her very best of friends, Sam, to come and pretend to be madly in love with her for one night. Just one night. After all, she'd rescued him enough times over the years, each time one of his leggy, model-look-alikes became too clingy.
Sam of course agreed. After all, he loved spending time with Ava more than anyone else, and he was more than happy to keep any creepy jerks away from Ava. He'd been doing it for 20 years...as her best friend of course.

But that night changed everything. That night, an innocent kiss, changed everything.

This story is everything you want on a friends-to-lovers romance. The rapport between Ava and Sam is amazing, the chemistry is off the charts, sizzling HOT, and the history of their friendship, and their secret desires is warm and heartbreaking at the same time.

I could not put this one down. In fact, I READ IT TWICE. The pacing was incredible. The drama and angst...delectable and Sam was absolutely deserving of a 20-year long crush. He was just so yum in every way. I especially loved how he kept building things for Ava, or ordering things she felt she needed on the Home Shopping Network, and how he practically lived in her apartment, because to him, wherever Ava was just felt like... home.

I loved revisiting all the characters from "Truth or Dare". And I can't wait to read about Ava's mysterious brother in the next book.

Ava Meyers is vivacious and successful, and living the dream life. Except for one thing, or rather someone. Ever since her childhood she has been in love with her best friend, Sam Farrow. Damaged and with a tough past he's not the kind of guy a woman willingly get's involved with. But that was the younger version of Sam, now he's supremely confident, super -sexy but sadly still totally untouchable, Ava can look all she wants but to touch might been ruining their friendship.
That all comes to a screeching halt when Sam steps in to save Ava from some rather very unwanted attention.

Sam has always hidden his feelings for Ava really well, but after within seconds of coming to her rescue the blistering hot sexual chemistry spirals out of control and he takes what he wants, and Ava gives it back ten times over! Sam knows one night with Ava will never be enough so he proposes they spend a few weeks together acting out all their long kept fantasies , then simply go back to being friends and nothing more, it's a straightforward mission of touch all we want then let go. It's the perfect plan, but there's one flaw, the part where they give each other up, because the more they indulge the more tempted they become to let go of friendship and instead go for forever!

This author has always been able to ramp up the sexual tension and still make it all sound so sweet and kind, I realize that is a odd statement, because when there's sexual tension oozing the sweet words don't seem to exactly always fit, but somehow this author is always able to make it happen and that my dear reading friends just make it all the better! And when it's a best friends to lovers trope written in this very stunning manner by a fabulous author, voila ... PERFECTION!

I really liked the character of Ava, sensible and somewhat willing to take a risk, or at least willing to risk a little the moment Sam lays one heck of a kiss on her! I really, really admired her courage when it came to make decisions about the future, it's not every girl that will be able to walk away and start a new life try to move on as best as possible all the while knowing this is not where they are meant to be.

Sam, oh my wonderful, smart, hotter than hot, sexy ass'ed , kind and caring in that special bad boy way Sam, the man totally melted my heart and I wanted to wrap him up and simply just hold him. His past made him a stronger person, but it also caused the don't trust always build walls personality, but when it all comes crumbling down my oh my , it took my breath away!

Through both characters the author showed how trust and honesty are the most important things in any relationship, friends only, friends with benefits, no matter without trust and honesty it will simply break apart and there will be no way to rebuild it.

I recommend this read for all fans who love romances with great kick and that extra something special that just let's your heart soar!

Slick's review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

I always enjoy a friends to lovers story mainly because the two people involve already know each other fairly well and therefore they don't have to play the "getting to know you" game to get to the good stuff. The difference in Mira Lyn Kelly's Touch & Go is that the hero and heroine aren't just friends, they are best friends and have been since their early childhood and Ava Meyers has been in love with Sam Farrow since she was 9 years old and Sam feels Ava saved his life and gave him the family he never had. There is no denying this book is beyond sexy but there are so many touching moments, a lot of soul searching and some really hard decisions making it a complex and satisfying story.

When Ava needs a date to a party because a co-worker can't seem to understand she isn't interested her best friend Sam is there by her side but when he kisses her to make their relationship look convincing it unleashes something in both of them they feel they have to explore just once so they can get over it and move on. I'm pretty sure you've guessed by now that didn't work out so well. The thing is these two had a fantastic relationship just minus the sex but when they added sex the feeling changed rapidly.

It was hard to watch Ava go through the process of finally having Sam the way she wanted even though she knew he wasn't in love with her the way she's in love with him. I really understood her reasoning for everything she did in this book even when it was hard because she was trying to protect herself and her heart. I really liked Sam even though at times I wondered if he truly was as blind and as clueless as he seemed to be in regards to Ava and her feelings and to be honest his feelings. Sam's baggage really impeded his ability to trust and love fully. Their friends with benefits relationship began innocently enough and even though I loved when they were together this way I wasn't surprised when it blew up in their face nor when it strained the special bond they'd had for over 20 years. My heart hurt so bad for these two when it became apparent they could never go back and going forward wasn't an option or so Sam thought.

While I could have done without all the angst and there was a lot; I adored these characters (including the secondary characters), their background was well developed, the plot was well thought out and more than all of that I could not put this book down because I had to know if they were going to get the happily ever after they both deserve.

What a Fun, Sexy, Emotional Romance from Mira Lyn Kelly...A Definite Must Read of 2015.

This was my first in the Dare to Love series (and yes...I MUST go back and read TRUTH OR DARE), and I am so so glad that I am a huge Friends to Lovers romance fans or else I might have missed out on the awesomeness that is TOUCH & GO.

Sam and Ava, seriously...the sizzling chemistry that lingers on ever page was so enticing, I couldn't put this book down. Sam was ...well...Just scroll down and have a peak...can we say OMG yum...if that was my best friend, I would SOOOO be having more naked slumber parties! If was sweet, and sexy, and funny and I absolutely loved the amazing banter between Ava and Sam, or the foreplay if you want to be truthful....Some of the scenes (sneaking in the bedroom on Game Night...hysterical...and the packages) had me cracking up! TOUCH & GO is like the best chick-flick you'd want to watch!

The heat is top notch from the start, the emotion is heart achingly beautiful and Mira writes a story line that will have you laughing and tearing up all at the same time!

So excited to see what is next for this series!

This friends-to-lovers tale is the second in a series, but can be read as a standalone.

Ava has been in love with Sam since childhood, since she discovered him lonely and thin, hiding near her backyard and she and her brother Ford brought him home. Sam became a regular fixture in Ava's life, long before she knew of his absent mother and abusive father, and his eventual (pseudo) adoption by her parents.

Sam has been Ava's protector since childhood, and his best friend, too. He's never had any serious relationships with women, well, excepting the close comfort of his extreme friendship with Ava. They hang out a lot, and even when he chases a random hook-up, it's Ava's cozy couch on which he reclines, watching movies in her apartment directly above his own.

Sam accompanies Ava to a work function as her "boyfriend" in order to keep an unwanted suitor at bay, but everything short-circuits when their charade goes too far. A kiss, then a grope, then a mad dash back to her place for the one thing they'd denied for two decades--physicality.

Ava knows she loves Sam, and she's too weak to resist the opportunity to have one night with him. Trouble is, one night isn't enough--for either of them. Sam wants more of the intimacy he'd never felt with his random hook-ups, and Ava struggles with her desire for Sam, and more than the physical release he can give her. Plus, each of them know they need to keep this FWB-thing secret from their close cadre of friends...

Still, they connect again and again, and it's Ava who finally calls it quits. She's too overwhelmed loving completely a man who doesn't quite love her THAT way. She makes the decision to put serious space between them, hoping that distance = separation, but she's miserable, and Sam's a mess. Expect unannounced reunions, unwelcome career moves, angry sex, epic declarations, heartbreak, puppies, and an HEA that wet my eyes and spilled a few tears. For real.

The sexytimes are delicious, and Ava and Sam felt so real in their world. I liked their friends and family, and can see this is a series I'd continue reading. The book is self-contained, no cliffhangers just a story I breezed through so quickly I was surprised, and a little deflated, when the end came...I wanted more time with these new imaginary friends! Looks like there will be another book in the series, though I expect it will be the story of another couple. Still, I'm sure Ava and Sam will have cameos. Yay!

Friends-to-lovers. It's the perfect foundation for a relationship, right? And also a damn fine one for a book...

Ava Meyers and Sam Farrow have 20 years of friendship behind them. 20 years of shared secrets, comfort, love, gentle affection, support and all the other good things that come with knowing someone completely.

Except Sam doesn't know Ava completely. He doesn't know that she's been in love with him all this time, and that her ultimate fantasy includes I dos and babies and happily ever after. And when one night of pretending to be her loving boyfriend allows them to cross a line previously untouched, when one night becomes too little to satisfy either of them, Sam doesn't know he's risking the two things the broken boy he was could never afford to lose.

His best friend. And his heart.

ALL THE F--CKING FEELS, people. All of them. For the first 60%, I was quietly rooting for this couple. Just quietly. I liked this book, very much. I thought about it when I wasn't reading it, I wanted to get back to Sam and Ava as soon as I could, but I didn't think I was so attached to Touch & Go that it would affect me any more than normal.... And then, BAM! I couldn't hold it in. I LOVED them. I wanted them to get their HEA, and I wanted to experience it with them.

I cried. Twice, actually. Not an ugly cry, thank goodness; it was softer than that. I ached inside, and I read with a scowl/frown that's probably going to give me early wrinkles. But, by God, I didn't want to give up on this couple, so I kept reading, kept hoping and it was completely worth it. I watched the percentage read with hawk eyes, torn between not wanting it to creep to the shattering 100% mark that meant I had to say goodbye, and wishing that it, that I, was closer to finishing. Because finishing meant, I hoped, an epiphany for these characters and the happily ever after that Ava dreamt about for 20 years and never dared believe in.

If you had asked me at that 60% mark how I'd have rated this book, I'd have given it a solid 4 stars, leaning towards a 4.5. Ask me now and I'd say it's an easy 5. Almost like I started out friends with book, until I realized it was something more. Something that I didn't want to give up or let go of.

I received an advanced readers copy from Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

Touch & Go is the second book in the Dare to Love series but if you haven't read the first one you can still enjoy this one. I didn't know that it was the second book in a series when I started it and I had no problems following along and it did not impact my enjoyment.

This is the story of two best friends who decide to add some benefits but there are some secret unrequited feelings that complicate things and make things messy. It is a story line that has been done a million times before but for some reason it really worked with this one. I found myself enjoying it a lot more than other similar stories I have read.

What I think made the story was the characters themselves and the relationship they had. I adored Eva and Sam and the comfortable, know everything about each other friendship they shared. The fact that they could snuggle while watching a movie, talk about anything and route through each others drawers was so sweet and left me wishing I had a best friend like that. I particularly loved Sam with his charming personality, extreme loyalty and his addiction to all things "as seen on TV." The fact that he was oozing with sex appeal did not go unnoticed either. There were plenty of moments that I wanted to reach through the pages and strangle him or slap some sense into him but even in the moments when I loved to hate him I still adored him. Kelly did a fabulous job at penning two characters that felt real, believable and likeable. You could really get behind Eva and Sam.

For readers that like their pages hot, this book delivers on that as well. I can be picky when it comes to sex in books. I absolutely don't mind it if there is a story and emotion to go with it but get bored with the "wash, rinse, repeat" formula as I like to call it. I can honestly say that I didn't feel like I was washing my hair with this book and it never got monotonous. It will take me a while to look at a tool belt the same again!

I really enjoyed this book and this author's style of writing. Now I feel the need to go back and read the first book and I look forward to any future instalments. Job well done!
