Two years ago I quit sugar and my life has never been better.
There are loads of 'sugar free diet' books available right now, but precious few that give you a blow-by-blow account of what happens when you cut sugar from your diet. And believe me, LOTS happens!
This is a personal story (cut through with some good information on going sugar free) about what happened to me, my body, my mood, my family when I started my sugar free diet.
If you're considering taking the big step of cutting sugar from your diet and you want to know what you're in for, then this is the book for you. If you want detailed, scientific information on the nutritional benefits of a sugar free life, go look elsewhere. If you want a 12 step plan, go buy a different book.
This is one woman's struggle with her sugar addiction and her waistline, and her determination to become healthier without going insane (from lack of chocolate.)
As someone who has been in a lifelong relationship with chocolate and anything sweet and is now looking to break up with it and all things sugary for health reasons the cover of this book grabbed me whilst flicking through amazon recommendations for me. A well written yet concise, informative and humorous read about Ellen's decision to quit sugar and give up her beloved chocolate. This book left me inspired and hopeful that it can be done whilst also giving advice as to the best ways to go about also breaking up with my beloved sugar addiction. #ellenparker #omgithoughtiwoulddiewithoutchocolate #kindle #amazon#kindle #litsy #bookstagram #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads
I'd read a couple of books before about sugar free but this book explains the authors journey in a no nonsense and amusing way. I enjoyed it and now very inspired and have completed day 3 of being sugar free.
I didn't know anything about this book or what to expect prior to reading it. I was pleasantly surprised. A real life experience narrated to explain sugar addiction and the benefits of cutting it out.
... our taste buds are dead, it's time to revive them.
Not quite what I was expecting (but then, I wasn't sure what exactly I WAS expecting, so...), but a quick read that follows the quitting of sugar by one woman, and her experiences from it. The first time I quite sugar entirely, I had absolutely zero withdrawal symptoms - not a single craving, zit, or headache. I thought I was doing something wrong. Turns out, I wasn't, but we just all go through this process very differently.
I liked reading her experiences, however, and the struggles to find decent replacement food that will quash the cravings when they come.
A recommended read if you're thinking of jumping onto the no-sugar wagon. Be aware that it's not a fad, it's an entire lifestyle overhaul because sugar is in literally everything. It's a full-on commitment and easy to fall off as you progress. Go gently, but know that it's worth it!
This was like talking to a friend. She read all the books outlined the information for you talk about how it applied in her life. She also shared when it was hard and what she did when it was hard. And she reference the books that she used so that you can read them and he helped as well.
Really interesting, not a diet book, but great to see how someone else managed, how it went, how it felt, just in case! Coz no one tells you in a diet book, do they? You hear how great you will feel afterwards! But what's inbetween? This!
