When you lose the one person that was your whole life, you'll understand. For me, it was my best friend, Alice. We spent every second of every day together. We planned a life. I was actually living. I was happy.
Now, it's just gone.
And I'm still here. Lonely. A tatted up body with an empty soul.
Getting inside of my head won't be pretty. I'm warning you now that you won't like me. I hate people besides my family. I hate everything around me. I just want to be alone. And I HATE how Logan Mercer doesn't understand that. He's everywhere; getting inside of my head, kissing me when he shouldn't be, messing everything up, and trying to get me to open up. He's making me crazier than I already am. Why do I need to talk about my life? Why does he even care?
Why doesn't anyone understand that I don't want to get attached to people? I don't want to get fixed.
I want to be alone.
I want to be free.
I want to fly.
My name is Rebeckah Lennox and this is my story...of how I fell.
WARNING: Due to heavy subject matter, strong language, possible triggering descriptions of self-harm and some sexual situations this book is not recommended for anyone under the age of 17.
Briana Pacheco is the author of New Adult and Contemporary romance novels (SOUNDS OF YESTERDAY, A SKY FULL OF SECRETS, LET HER GO, and BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN), a twin, a dreamer, a tattoo lover, easily swooned by accents, and a little bit of an extrovert but a whole lot of introvert.
I have officially finished this baby and I'm SOOO nervous excited to get it out there on the 4th!!! This WILL be a dark story! And it contains a lot of strong language.
This book blew me away.. its not your typical read.. its definitely a book that will leave you thinking about your worth and how what's inside your head really takes a toll on you. I really recommend this book
I was provided an early copy of this book from the author.
This book is definitely not your average read. We all know the storyline of the sad broken girl who can’t be fixed until this random guy fixes her with lots of sex and his dreamy eyes.. It’s ridiculous. And unrealistic. This book, however, is not one of those books.
It’s almost too real. It’s like an elongated version of a very, very sad episode of Criminal Minds. The payoff is so worth it though.
This book follows the life of Rebeckah Lennox. She does not give one single fuck about anything or anyone anymore. She’s lost and doesn’t want to be found. You’re given small glimpses of what’s happened to her to make her like this, but you’re never given the whole picture. You’re kept guessing until the end.
Logan Mercer is so perfect I’m sad that he’s not a real person. His character changes in the reader’s eyes throughout the story. In the beginning you think he’s just this gorgeous player and that’s how he’s going to be the whole time. Well, all I’ll say is that there are many different sides to him and they’re all amazing. One of my favorite male characters I’ve read. He also has a sister who plays a huge part in this book. Together, they really make such a big impact on Rebeckah’s life.
Another massive part of Rebeckah’s life is her family (and family friends.) They are the reason she is the way that she is and really her little sister is the only reason she keeps going. The relationships that she has with her different family members are so different and really intriguing to the reader.
Rebeckah is not an ordinary character. There are too many different sides to her to even count. She’s so dynamic, but honest and bitchy at the same time. The biggest part of her though is sad and filled with self-loathing and self-destruction. Her journey is bumpy and definitely not filled with rainbows and sunshine.
********THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR THE LIGHT HEARTED.**********
This review may come off a bit vague and undetailed, solely because there are so many intricate details and plot twists that make it impossible to give anything away without ruining it for you. As soon as you’ve made up your mind about something or someone, new information comes to light and changes your perception on everything. The author somehow takes multiple different point of views and backstories and intertwines them perfectly to paint one solid and INSANE picture by the time you’re done. I promise, you’ve never read anything like this.
*There’s a nice homage to the Enough series, if you’ve read the author’s previous works. Oh, and if you haven’t you should get on that.
And props to the author for writing such realistic situations and writing characters that deal with a lot of issues that many people deal with every day.
Don't let me Fall is a wonderful story of Love and Forgiving ones self. I love how Briana Pacheco brings this story to us, it starts as many other new adult novels, with the heroine of the story starting college. Only, this time, she's at a new school, trying to get away from bad memories and move on with her life. That is where the similarities end.
Rebeckah (Becky) has been through a serious trauma, and it has affected her life in many ways. She doesn't make friends, she doesn't do realtionships, and she's rather hard to talk to sometimes. She feels serious amounts of guilt over her past traumatic experience and she often questions why she's still living. Becky also has a lot going on her in normal everyday life. Family struggles are the fore front of why she's come home.
Logan enters Becky's life at the start of the school year, first glance and he knows there's something about her, but she doesn't want to give him the time of day. Logan doesn't let that deter him though, and through his sister, Aimee's new-found friendship with Becky, he moves in and doesn't give up.
Becky doesn't know how to handle it at first, this guy horning in on her life and trying to make her feel things she doesn't want to feel. She doesn't want a relationship, she doesn't want a steady guy in her life.
But in the way of true love, Logan doesn't back down and eventually Becky starts to give in. Only to have things blow up in her face. (sorry, No spoilers here) Their path wasn't easy and there was a lot to work through, but Don't Let Me Fall was a powerful story that was both heart breaking and swoon worthy at points. I enjoyed every last word of this beautiful story.
*I was provided an ARC copy for review. My thoughts are, however my own*
Omg, how much pain can one person take before they are irreparably broken? I found myself thinking this quite often while reading this book. There are definitely some darker elements and emotional moments in this story and it started right in the beginning. This book was about Becka who survived the death of her best friend but is no longer really living and not sure she even wants to. She's just going through the motions more out of love for her family than any real desire on her part, until she meets Logan, and then everything changes. Becka was a very intense leading lady. She had so much she had been through, was going through and still had to go through. She fought her growth and change every step of the way. But her love for family was endearing and drew me in even through some of her less flattering moments. Logan was amazing. Funny and hot and always there for Becka. But he sure was NOT perfect, which made him even better. There were so many secondary characters in this story, but they all added something to the story or helped the main characters in some way. There were so many twists and turns and if you thought you knew where it was going next, you quickly found out you were wrong. There were a few minor editing errors. And a LOT of use of the F word. If you are not big on profanity usage in a romance, then you may be surprised. But overall this was a good story which I would certainly recommend

I downloaded book while it was free. To be completely honest, I've had it sitting on my Kindle long enough to forget what it was about. Therefore, I went into reading this blind. I've never heard of this author before and I knew nothing about the story so I had no idea what I was in for.
What I got was a pleasant surprise. The book is well written and kept me hooked. It's a darker read--which doesn't bother me--but there is a growing sense of light and hope in it. It deals with sensitive topics such as suicide and I thought the author dealt with the topic well. Becka felt like a character on the edge. It didn't feel stereotypical or over dramatic, she felt broken and in pieces ... like she had no other options. She's been through a lot and I thought she was a believable character.
I won't say too much about the plot as there are some twists. I will admit I figured out so of the main ones early on, but I won't ruin anything for anyone in case you don't. This book is better left to unfold as you read it.
Overall, a gripping read. It's the first by this author for me, but I'll no doubt pause the next time I see her name.
I'm desperately trying to find the words to express just how much I loved this novel, but honestly...I'm still a little destroyed over it and I suck at writing reviews because I always get over emotional.
Rebeckah was an incredible character. She had so many different layers, so many different elements that truly made her relatable. Her story was haunting and beautiful, and Logan was just...he was perfect LOL! I don't want to give spoilers but I loved their story, how he didn't give up, how he didn't let her fall. He could have walked away and he didn't.
There was so much more to this novel than a great love story...Briana's supporting characters were strong and the plot flowed perfectly throught the novel, great dialog and emotional depth with funny moments and heartbreaking moments. Lots of emotions to be had.
This was a Fantastic Read!! I truly love broken characters and Rebeckah is Beautifully Broken!! I loved being on her healing journey! Logan was the perfect counterpart for Becca!! I loved their chemistry! The story has twists and turns that you definitely won't see coming! It will keep you enthralled and turning the pages. Definitely A must read!!
Loved this book! Could not put it down! Loved the characters and their journeys. Lots of plot twists. The author knows how to pull you in and tug at all of your emotions. GREAT BOOK!
"Let me fall, I just want to be someone's other half. I want someone to wake up in the morning and think of me. Not thinking I'll end up offing myself. To think of the way to get me to smile."
So apparently this book is a murder mystery/suspense romance, but is so poorly written you don’t realize it until the last 10% of the book. The first 90% of the books reads like the diary of an angsty teen who lies about being promiscuous and suicidal for attention. There are huge continuity issues, a mess of stereotypes that are far from realistic, and a million instances where anyone with any actual knowledge of the world says to themselves, “um… that’s not how that works.” It also reads like it was written in the 90’s with the amount of backwards thinking.
I hate to bash someone’s work but this was terrible. It reads as if it was written by a 14 year old sheltered girl, who thinks sleeping around and tattoos are cool because she’s seen it on TV. None of it makes any sense. It’s like a collection of poorly written short stories, and I just read it wrong.
Please, please take the trigger warnings seriously. Triggers for mental health, suicide attempts, death, betrayal. Make sure you have lots of tissues handy. I found my eyes leaking constantly. This book truly touched my heart in so many ways.
This book was turning out to be one of my favorites, but ended up majorly disappointing me.
Rebecka is so incredible. She is such a BA but then it isnt followed up with real representation of healing after trauma?
Logans betrayal is unacceptable and infuriating to me. Her whole family and him, knowingly insert him into her life to psychoanalyze her and ‘fix’ her. I get that they were desperate and meant well, but she raped and self harming. Rape is about power and control and often times survivors struggle to gain back control in their own lives. Self harm is often linked with control over emotions and pain where there seems like there isnt any. So her being in a relationship with Logan without her knowing the reason he’s in her life? Thats making decisions and taking control over someone vulnerable. Its disgusting to me and Im so disappointed by the choice because this book was so good.
P.S. why make this book hot and then skip the sex scenes? Like, c’mon
I just couldn't find it in myself to like Rebekah, her relationship with Logan didn't make sense to me and I didn't buy it. This entire book was just a bit too unrealistic and far fetched for me.
