Another one of P. O. Dixon's wonderfully written and entertaining stories. Dixon's Pride and Prejudice variations have me continuing to fall in love with Elizabeth and Darcy in each story. While I love Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Dixon's variations add so many more details to this most famous LOVE affair. In this story, it is several days before the wedding. More and more family meals and get togethers cause Elizabeth embarrassment and Darcy to simply to tune out. One exceedingly night Lizzy leaves the room, catches Darcy's eye, and he follows her out. In a back parlour, Lizzy has set up a tray of various foods for him to eat after her mother and aunt make a comment about the weight Darcy has lost. Mrs. Bennet comes in and says that this was not enough, Kitty comes in to stare, and Mr. Bennet comes in with looking for his paper which is stuck under his arm. The servants show up with substantial food, according to Mrs. Bennet, but the fiasco that happens is beyond belief. Four dogs enter knocking the servants down spilling and dropping all the food. They both abscond to the music room, and Mary proceeds to enter to practice. Once again they look for another place to hide. Darcy locks the door, and they are very much alone. The rest of the family goes to bed leaving Jane and Bingley in the drawing room, Darcy and Elizabeth in the locker back room. Bingley and Jane go looking for the two. Finding the door locked, Bingley decides to go back to Netherfield, Darcy will follow. Of course, Elizabeth and Darcy fell asleep. Upon waking, Darcy says he'll be back later. The wedding day comes, they are married, and they head out to London to enjoy a week alone, return to Longbourn to pick up Georgiana, and then head to Pemberley. Thank you for another great variation.
