The Jonathon Island series is created by USA Today bestselling, award-winning author Susan May Warren.
She needs a house to rebuild her career. He needs a fiancée to keep his home. Neither planned on rebuilding their hearts in the process.
Daisy Decker didn't plan to ruin her career by making the network execs of her hit home renovation show choose between her and her cheating co-host, but she's got a plan to fix it. Step one, find herself a cute little house on the world’s most adorable island. Step two, film herself giving the house a total “Decker” remodel and use it to restart her YouTube channel. Step three, absolutely annihilate her ex in ratings and followers until the network execs realize they made the wrong choice and come crawling back.
The problem with this plan? The only house she could possibly afford belongs to the guy who got away.
Local contractor Hunter Barret is not letting his family's legacy go without a fight, and he's especially not going to sell it to Daisy Decker, the woman who ruined his future and broke his heart. But the family trust states that the house will hit the market the moment he turns 31, and there's nothing he can do to stop it. That is, unless he can miraculously find a fiancée overnight. He's out of options and out of time...but maybe there's a way Hunter and Daisy can both get what they want.
With power tools in hand and walls coming down, Daisy and Hunter discover that sometimes the strongest foundations are built on second chances.

“It was never about the house. It was about faith.”
This is quite possibly my favourite of the series! Congratulations to Sarah for a stellar installment in a great series.
Daisy Decker’s career has been catastrophically destroyed and her love life torpedoed when she pulls up stakes and heads to Jonathon Island, a strategic retreat to formulate her comeback plan.
Warren has written a 5-star novel highlighting family legacy and rebuilding, and then tied it together with the fake engagement trope and faith threads. Her female main character decides to use an abandoned Queen Anne-style Victorian house as her first project on her new show, House to Home. The thing is … she soon learns that it belongs to an old flame. Well, it’s in his sights if he can meet the requirements!
It’s about: ✔️What happens when we get everything we plan for but nothing we really want ✔️God knowing what we need even when we don’t ✔️How to cultivate faith that moves mountains and saves houses ✔️A moral dilemma ✔️What to do when we feel control slipping through our fingers ✔️Family legacy ✔️Building on faith ✔️Commitment to rebuild
“I promise I will always stay to rebuild.”
The above quote has been taking up space in my mind since I read it. I love this encouragement to rebuild and the value of commitment.
This fantastic novel about giving the Bad Luck Barrett house a new lease on life is one you’ll want on your reading list! Congratulations, Sarah. You're now on my auto-read list!
I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.
I have never read a Sarah May Warren novel before, but I’m sure glad I read MEET ME AT SUNSET COVE! What a beautiful story! This absorbing story combines both the beautiful sensory details of a charming small town town with heartfelt characters, a moving plot, and a story with so much depth. MEET ME AT SUNSET COVE is a suspenseful read with characters I rooted for, and some lovely sensory details that brought the town of Jonathon Island to life. I highly recommend this story if you need a complete escape from life.
MEET ME AT SUNSET COVE explores family dynamics, loss, secrets, and a new romance! Sarah May Warren handles difficult topics and has the reader cheering for everyone to succeed. When I started reading MEET ME AT SUNSET COVE, I didn’t know I’d come to love it this much. Where to start? Daisy is such a great character, full of life and warmth. The interactions between all the characters in this small town, where everyone knows everyone else, are vividly told and enjoyable to read. Love, hope, second chances and the importance of community are the threads that bind this book together beautifully.
MEET ME AT SUNSET COVE also brings Daisy back to front and center with Hunter. She broke Hunter’s heart years ago. Daisy wants to renovate his family home to save her career, but Hunter isn’t having it. In order for him to save his home, he must be married by the time he turns thirty one or the home will be sold. So, together, he and Daisy come up with a plan to give them both what they want.
I don’t want to say too much for fear of giving away too much of MEET ME AT SUNSET COVE but once I started reading this beautiful and heart breaking story, I could not stop! Everyone should have this unforgettable book on their fall reading list. The dialogue between Hunter and Daisy is sometimes funny and other times frustrating! They both have secrets and without letting them out, they will not be able to move forward. I was instantly emotionally invested in all of the characters from page one and I can not wait to read more by this wonderful and heart tugging author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from JustRead. All opinions are my own.
Overall I really enjoyed the central aspects of this but a couple of things affected my reading experience.
What I Loved: The fall atmosphere was lovely. I definitely highlighted full paragraphs of autumnal imagery. The HGTV/home renovation thread of the plot was such a genius idea for this series considering the underlying plot of saving Jonathon Island. I really enjoyed the entire idea and the structure behind it that brought Hunter and Daisy together (again!). The renovation part was great! Tons of showing and not just telling. The way the YouTube videos were written out was so fun. I enjoyed Daisy and Hunter's chemistry. Their personalities each had a confidence about them in which they said and did what they meant but with a quiet layer of vulnerability that still made them really relatable. Both their cute and angsty moments together were great to read. The overarching themes of plans changing and rebuilding in life was so smart alongside Daisy's renovating career and Hunter's contractor occupation. There were 1.5 connected third act breakups and I thought they made a lot of sense for the story!
What Fell Flat: I did not like the "Bad Luck Barretts" thing, it did not feel realistic. In what world will a small town degrade a family who has been through hardship and bad times completely outside of their control with a nickname/reputation like that?? It just didn't fit the Jonathon Island I had come to read about and love. Also...one of my bookish pet peeves in Christian fiction is the frequent use of luck. I just don't think it belongs in Christian fiction when you could use that opportunity to oh idk actually talk about God some more. Lastly, what bothered me is the backstory for Hunter's mom. What she did was horrible (as someone who had a parent who abandoned the other parent and several siblings just like Hunter's family) and their reunion felt glossed over so quickly. I really did not have any sympathy for that, but felt bad for Hunter and like that whole thread around their relationship could have been stronger.
I was sent an eARC to read and review but ended up buying my paperback copy to read the week of the release because I love the cover. Either way, these are my thoughts!
In this book: -one of them is famous -small town -second chance -fake engagement -fixer-upper -conditional inheritance
This story really drew me in! The fake engagement trope was very well done, with lots of loaded chemistry between Hunter and Daisy as they actually had history together that weighed on them at times. I loved seeing the way they ended up working so well together and growing close for real.
Both of these characters carry things from their pasts that they needed to work through and they also both had to learn to lean on God for the things in their lives that seemed overwhelming.
I had only read the first book in this series but I didn’t have any trouble jumping into this story. I loved the connection between Hunter and Daisy, as well as the close family that Daisy was drawn into as Hunter’s fiancée. The work the two did on the home and the filming of the work was presented in a fun way and I liked getting a peek into their process.
(4.5 stars)
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Well, I guess the fact that I read this all in one sitting is a good sign for how much I loved it! The chemistry between these two was spot on, and while they had their own plans, God's plans for them were even better. What a wonderful story!
Daisy is looking for the next step in her career, and she has her eye on a beautiful older home on Jonathan Island. If she can renovate the house and document the process, she believes it will help her relaunch her career. Only hiccup? The owner of the house, Hunter. They have a past that never quite got resolved, and he has no interest in selling the family home. But when Hunter realizes he can’t take full ownership without being engaged, the two strike up a deal. She'll be his fake fiancée so he can inherit the house, and she gets to use it for her renovation show. Best of all, they’ll work together, bringing both of their dreams to life. But when forced proximity causes feelings to resurface and they’re forced to confront the past, things get confusing. Where is the line between fake engagement and real feelings? And when Daisy's former career comes calling, will Jonathan Island just be a stepping stone... or could it become something more?
This story was wonderful. Once I started, I couldn't stop reading. They had so many obstacles to overcome, but it was so worth it. The faith interwoven with the romance was perfect! Sarah's written a wonderful story!
I gave this book 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5!
I received a complimentary copy. This review reflects my honest opinion.
What an awesome read involving a designer and a contractor who share a history, a fake engagement, misunderstandings, and second chances. The characters were well-written and great, the storyline drew me in, and I enjoyed the filming and behind the scenes of the house renovation that Daisy and Hunter did. Daisy and Hunter had their own personal struggles and issues. Spiritual themes include creating a legacy of faith, giving God the reins, and trusting God. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Fake fiance AND former relationship tropes? Yes, please!
In this fifth of the wonderful Jonathon Island Series, Daisy Decker returns to Jonathon Island (from LA) to rejuvenate her home remodeling career. Her former business partner/love interest burned her in spectacular fashion.
When Hunter Barrett learns that his vacant family home is going to be sold, he is livid. It's been in the family for generations. Adding insult to injury is finding out that his former love interest Daisy is the one planning to purchase the home.
It was a fun story and both characters were so likable. My gratitude to Sunrise Publishing for a complimentary e-book copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.
I totally loved this sweet story about Hunter and Daisy. Hunter’s tragic past that haunts him made him a brooding hero, desperate to keep what’s left of his family and family business together. His loyalty and work ethic made him trustworthy and his romantically clueless nature made him endearing. Daisy’s optimistic sunshiny personality was perfect for her show, her viewers and, most importantly, for Hunter. She had some stuff in her past that she needed to overcome as well and I loved that her mom could help her. Fake engagement trope is one of my favorites so it was delightful to see Hunter and Daisy navigate their relationship. The setting of Jonathon Island was beautiful and nostalgic to return to. Becoming a part of a renovation project through the eyes of a designer and a contractor/carpenter was incredibly fun. I enjoyed catching up with some of the other characters from the series. And I hope to see more of Hunter’s brothers in this series; his entire family was adorable and I fell in love with them instantly.
I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Sunrise Publishing via JustRead Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
The cover drew me in immediately for this one. 😍 The fall vibes were so pronounced, I couldn't help but love it! The characters were also so easy to live, and the faith elements were so inspiring and really hit me hard. I laughed so much throughout it, held tears back...this one really just hits all the emotions. 🩷 I hadn't ever read a book so focused on home renovation before, but I was surprised how much I really enjoyed it! I loved how Hunter & Daisy bonded over it, even though it wasn't what Hunter was used to...he did it for her. So now I'll have to go back and read the others in the series..😍

return to jonathon island for a romance involving a fake engagement, second chances, and home renovations!
daisy decker shows up on the island in need of a fresh start. unfortunately, the house that seems perfect for her is hunter’s childhood home, and he’s not ready to let it go. in fact, he’s willing to go to any lengths to keep it—even faking an engagement with daisy. this arrangement becomes particularly tricky given the couple’s complicated history; will either of them end up getting what they want?
meet me at sunset cove is such a cute fall read! it was so fun to see what brought them together for an unexpected reunion, and coincidentally, both daisy and hunter have some important choices to make about the future. i loved seeing how their fake engagement helped them to confront the bitterness that lingered from the past and open them up to new possibilities going forward.
though it’s fifth in the jonathon island series, it can easily be read on its own (though once you visit the island once, you’ll want to go back and catch up on all the other romances!).
it’s easy to recommend this book if you need a quick contemporary-romance read!
✨ read if you enjoy: —heartwarming romance —home projects + design —fake engagements —reconciliation + letting go —fall vibes —a small-town michigan island setting (with plenty of quirks and traditions)
✨ considerations: —language: none —spice: kisses only —faith: mentions of God and church —content: mentions of cheating and divorce
(i received a complimentary copy from the author and/or publisher. i was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions i have expressed are my own.)
What a sparkling, delightful debut! Sarah's author 'voice' pulled me in from the opening pages, and of course I always love a sweet romance with a home renovation/HGTV vibe. Loved the tension, the stakes, and the interesting family dynamics too. I'm still smiling over the satisfying conclusion.
Well done, Sarah! I look forward to reading whatever comes next.
Full disclosure: I received an early digital copy of this book and I'm also a Sunrise Publishing author. All opinions shared here are my own.
Had to give up. The characters meeting was too over the top. I thought this was Susan may warren writing under a new name but Susan’s writing feels more mature than this… I’m glad others are loving it however!
I enjoyed the banter and the fun way in which the author showed the readers the development of the relationship between Daisy and Hunter through the cute youtube videos. I found that the author was very talented and creative in her method with the youtube chapters.
Daisy was a ray of sunshine and her personality broke the broody barriers of Hunter.
Though there was a lof of fun and cute moments in the story, there was so depth though the inner turmoils the characters struggled with.
I would love a series about Hunter’s brothers!
*I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.*
Daisy and Hunter’s story is so light and cute! We jump right into Daisy and her dilemma she is currently facing, which is her show being canceled + drama with her ex-boyfriend whom she had the show with together. She’s off to Jonathan Island to jump into the renovation side of the real estate world and that’s when she comes across the perfect house…
We then meet Hunter, who’s fighting for the right to inherit his family’s house/property before it’s taken and bought by an outsider…Insert the outsider - Daisy?! 🤭 Hunter and Daisy make quite the pair and all the up’s and down’s are so enjoyable, comical, and cute & sweet! This story was well-written and I enjoyed it overall, especially the adorable setting and likeable characters.
Meet Me at Sunset Cove is the first book I have read written by Sarah May Warren, and I look forward to reading more. This is the fifth book in the Jonathon Island multi-author series, and it has been the perfect hallmarkesque series. This series will be a re-read for me in the future.
The character development was great. After Daisy is dropped from her show, she is trying to prove that she has what it takes. And Johnathan Island seems to have what she needs. Until she gets there and finds that the $1 home program isn’t going on anymore. Running into an old acquaintance, Hunter. Hunter is working through his family's past of the Bad Luck Barretts. He is also dealing with the hurt felt by the deception from Daisy and her ex-boyfriend, and ex-co-host.
The setting is perfection. I have really come to love Jonathan Island and the people on it. The storyline is great. We have the Barrett house, which is passed down from generation to generation, and Hunter has his sights set on inheriting the house, but there is a stipulation in the trust that you must be engaged or married by your 31st birthday. Daisy needs a project to help save her career. When they run into each other and come up with the fake engagement, the plan seems to be working. The renovation is going along great, the YouTube show is gaining traction, but then things start to unravel. Hunter’s dad’s health has taken a hit, the family company needs some more hours put in to keep things going, and then the day the fake engagement all comes to light, thanks to the help of ex-co-host and ex-boyfriend. Things have gone completely wrong. When Hunter decides to go to his mom’s wedding, it is his new stepdad who sheds some light on the truth. Sometimes our plans don’t work out, but God’s do.
The fake engagement, second-chance romance between Daisy and Hunter is perfection-sweet and kisses-only romance.
Sarah May Warren did a great job intertwining faith throughout the book. Reminding us that God, “If you want to make God laugh, just tell Him your plans.” My mom used to have a plate with that on it. It’s a great reminder that even though we can have plans, ultimately, things could change.
*I received a complimentary copy from the author and voluntarily chose to review it. All opinions are my own.
Daisy Decker's career is in shambles and the man she thought she loved and was partnered with is not the man she thought he was. A move to beautiful Jonathan Island sounds like the perfect place to unwind and possibly get a new plan to reinvigorate her career. She does not count on seeing the one who got away, Hunter Barrett. She certainly does not expect his reaction to her appearance.
Hunter Barrett is stunned to see the woman who broke his heart and broke his spirit, but there she is standing in his family's home as a potential buyer. No one is buying his family's home, not if he can help it, especially Daisy Decker.
I adored this book. Just when I think I can't enjoy another Jonathan Island book more, another great one comes around. This might be one of my favorites, although it is hard to pinpoint a true favorite. This one had one of my favorite tropes - a fake engagement, add in a fixer upper set on beautiful Jonathan Island, and you have the perfect read for a hot summer's day.
The Barrett boys added a lot of lightheartedness to this otherwise serious story, especially the scene of the football game. Lives are being changed, and some are not ready for change.
I really liked Daisy from page one. I just knew she was more than a face on a hit television fixer upper show. She had real depth, heart and compassion. I also hurt for Hunter. His tragic past has completely colored his future to the point that he cannot see anyway out and will not allow anyone in.
This is another gold star notch in the belt of the Jonathan Island series. I loved every minute of it. This little island and its residents have wormed their way into my heart.
Thank you to Sunrise Publishing for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
When Daisy loses her role in the show she's worked so hard for, she knows the only way she can get back into such a position is to renovate a house on her YouTube channel and build her followers again. The only problem? The house she finds is owned by the family of the man who ghosted her years earlier, and he has no interest in selling. But when it turns out that the only way to keep the house in the family is for him to be engaged or married by his next birthday, they agree on a bargain: she'll pretend to be his fiancée while he tries to work out another solution, and she can start renovating. It seems the perfect answer. But can their hearts survive working together again?
Another delightful Jonathon Island story, with a couple I really enjoyed getting to know having a second chance at love. Daisy has been focused so hard on 'success' that she's forgotten what really matters in life (though not to the detriment of her standards), while Hunter has spent so long focusing on holding his family together that he's forgotten how to let God take charge - or at least admit that God really is in charge, whether he likes it or not. They're each really good for the other, and the scene with the transom window is the perfect example (such a beautiful scene!). All in all, a delightful and inspiring read - highly recommended.
Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.
“Embark on a journey to uncover the beauty in the discarded” in Meet Me at Sunset Cove, the fifth book in the dreamy Jonathan Island series. I love, love, love this series so much! The Jonathan Island series is truly my happy place right now, and this novel personifies why.
This novel vibes with youthfulness and playfulness that is intoxicating. The whole small-town charm, co-mingled with a charming premise and even more alluring characters, had me swooning hard, and I couldn’t get enough. Being someone that practically lives on YouTube when my nose isn’t in a book, I appreciated how detailed the YouTube episode scenes were. I could easily see this being an online series and wish it were!! I also loved Hunter’s family and their whole dynamic. From the banter to their passion for football, I was here for it all.
There are moments between Hunter and Daisy that are truly charged with electricity and attraction. It’s undeniable that there is something magical between them, even if it took a bit for both of them to realize this fact, and I adored every sparkling moment.
If I had to sum up this novel in one word, I’d call it shimmering. There is a youthful exuberance that can be felt from the beginning and is undeniably charming throughout. After reading this novel, I fell in love with this series even more. I didn’t even know that was possible!
*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I read through Kindle Unlimited. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
Meet Me at Sunset Cove was such a beautiful story! I know it's part of the Jonathon Island series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone. Yes, there are crossovers from past characters, so fans of the series will enjoy those, but they don't detract from the experience of a new reader, as was my case.
I didn't remember much from the blurb other than this was a second chance/the one who got away story. So I was pleasantly surprised when I found out it also included the fake engagement trope. 😍 It was just what both Daisy and Hunter needed, and I loved every minute of it! I knew this book was about house remodeling and design, so the descriptions would tend toward that side, but paired up with the pacing, it all worked out perfectly. And I especially loved the chapters that included "episodes" in them! 🤗
One other thing I seriously loved was how seamlessly the author wove the Christian faith and reminders of God's truth into the story. There are some beautiful and powerful ones in there, and it made me reflect on them as much as the characters, seeing as how they were going through very relatable things (this book deals with themes of perfectionism and trusting God).
All in all, this was a beautiful Contemporary Christian Romance (the chemistry and banter between Daisy and Hunter was fantastic!) that made me wish for a day spent with the Barrets (the brothers are also fun! Will they have their own books?) and/or visiting the island. I'll be picking up the next one for sure. 😊 ~ 5 stars!
This was a wonderful debut and I actually didn't realize I wasn't reading a book by Susan May Warren until the end and realized I had misread who the author was! It's her daughter's debut and they have a similar writing style, which is a huge compliment. I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I loved that I was back on Jonathon Island and getting to see a home renovation, no less. It was great seeing a damaged and broken house brought back to life while also seeing two broken people fall in love and work through some of their trust issues, both with each other and with God. Hunter's mom had left after a series of unfortunate incidents when he was a teenager and he struggles with trusting that people will stay while Daisy struggles with feelings of inadequacy. You throw in their brief romantic history and that they're pretending to be engaged and that makes for some interesting tension, especially when it's in such a small town. It was fun watching them get to know each other as people again along with having some sweet romantic moments. Sometimes I felt that Daisy was a little too trusting, especially when her ex shows up and Hunter could be stubborn and should have listened to an explanation about a situation. It was fun seeing the other townspeople again as some have had their own stories; I missed some books in this series but this worked well as a stand-alone. I would highly recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not compensated for this review. All opinions are my own.
I've loved these stories about sweet Jonathon Island.
This one was fun to read!
Daisy and Hunter were a sweet couple to watch.
But they have a past. Are they willing to move on and let the past stay in the past?
What made this book fun - the renovation aspect. Daisy was on a show, doing HGTV-like episodes. I loved seeing this part of the story come to life.
Then there's the old Barrett house. Hunter loves this place, so much that he is willing to do almost anything to keep it in his family, including a fake engagement to his long-ago love.
The longer Hunter and Daisy fake being engaged, the more real it feels, and you can see them both wishing it WAS real.... I loved watching this.
But... there's always a plot twist. Something that happens to upset the normal progression of said story. I won't give any spoilers here, but this was unexpected and a fun read.
Overall, I found this story quite enjoyable and a wonderful addition to the Jonathon Island stories.

Meet Me at Sunset Cove is such a cute, sweet romance. It’s the kind of story that would make a great Hallmark movie and leaves you warm and happy inside. Daisy just got fired from her home renovation show and left not only her career, but her icky ex and former co-host behind. In an attempt to get back to her roots and to put her career back on the map, she goes to Jonathon Island in hopes of finding a home to remodel for her YouTube channel. What Daisy didn’t know was that the one who got away, Hunter, lives on the island, and it’s his family’s home she is hoping to fix up. I am always up for a second chance romance and really loved the use of this trope in this book. Daisy and Hunter ended before they even got started and I really enjoyed watching them grow back together and get that happy ever after. Read this for: *HGTV vibes *Dual POV *The chemistry and connection between Daisy and Hunter *Fake engagement *Second chance romance *Small-town vibes *The Barrett brothers *Sweet/Hallmark vibes I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author. I received a complimentary copy of this book as part of the Justread Tour. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a sweet and cute book of a social influencer, Daisy Decker and contractor, Hunter Barrett. These two have shared history and it’s not all roses and sunshine’s, it’s messy and ugly. They first met years before when Daisy and Hunter were both but Daisy ghosted him. Hunter has never been able to forget Daisy and how she walked away with his heart and his designs. Daisy has now lost her job with Double Decker and looking to get her career back on the right track by temporarily moving to Jonathon Island to renovate a house through her YouTube channel. Little does she know the house she’s renovating is none other than Hunter Barrett’s family home that’s been vacant since his childhood. When Hunters life imploded years ago he and his family have been the same. Will Daisy and Hunter come together despite their differences to work on his childhood home to update and sell?
I loved this fake engagement, misunderstandings and second chances Christian contemporary romance. The whole Jonathon Island series has been exceptionally great and I’ve enjoyed getting the chance to read this sweet island series.
This is book 5 in the Jonathan Island series. I have only read 2 of the 5 so far and I will definitely be going back to read the rest. They are an interconnected series that can be completely read as a standalone.
This was the perfect “fall” book, it had the best autumn vibes to it. Daisy and Hunter were the best characters, I couldn’t help but fall in love with them. I’m also a sucker for second chance romance and the chemistry that Daisy and Hunter had, it was magnetic. I also loved the home renovation aspect to the book. It was a HGTV show mixed with a hallmark movie and I totally ate it up. I would actually love it if this could be made into a hallmark movie… Please!
There's faith, love, laughter, and even some tears! This book checked all the boxes! If you like books with these tropes below you must check this one out. ⁃ Fake Engagement ⁃ Second Chance ⁃ Christian fiction ⁃ Small Town ⁃ Fixer-Upper

Diamonds are characterized by 4 Cs: carat, cut, clarity, and color. When it comes to my summer reading gems, I have my own 4 Cs: cozy, contemporary, and clean, with characters who captivate. Meet Me at Sunset Cove covers all of those bases.
As Daisy Decker (AKA a girl with a plan) heads to Jonathon Island, she needs a comeback to get her name back out in the HGTV world after a heartbreaking setback. As she exits the ferry that brought her to the charming island she selected as her comeback stage, Daisy meets an eccentric character who smiles good-naturedly as he teases, "If you want to make God laugh, just tell Him your plans". The little old man foreshadows what becomes one of the themes of the story.
Sarah's writing style is fresh, and her grasp of dialogue is fantastic. She's paired Daisy, a design and renovation star who constantly tries to meet the impossible expectations of others, with Hunter, a man whose loyalty to family has him striving to restore a sterling family legacy tarnished by an onset of bad luck. I ended up thoroughly engaged with both characters.
Throughout the novel, biblical wisdom is woven in such a natural way that it inspires without being heavy-handed. I found myself reflecting on my own faith walk as I read, which I found to be an unexpected bonus of the novel.
Meet Me at Sunset Cove is part of an interactive series by a cast of various authors - but it is not necessary to read it in order. The story is, itself, turnkey.
SO CUTE! Sigh. I just loved this story and devoured it in an evening. I love a good home reno show and I really enjoyed visualizing the beautiful old house and the changes. The changes I enjoyed the most, however, were the changes in Daisy and Hunter. Coming back to their faith, standing up for themselves and what they want, having hard conversations and rebuilding relationships, not just the house. Even though you want to smack them a few times, they figure it out in the sweetest way. Ugh.. Logan was a great villain, that slimy weasel. Loved the brothers, the friendships Daisy finds on the island, and I can’t get over the romance- it was a delight. I love this series for its romance, faith themes, popular tropes, and small town vibes. Maybe my favorite in the series, though that’s a really hard decision because I love them all.
I received a complementary copy of this book from Sunrise Publishing. I was not asked to leave a positive review. My opinions are my own.
Genre: Contemporary Christian Romance Tropes: Second Chance, Fake Engagement, Forced Proximity, Small Town Secrets Themes: Legacy, Faith Over Control, Rebuilding What Was Lost, Trusting God's Plan
This story was everything my heart needed and more! Daisy Decker is ready for a comeback—but the man who got away (and broke her heart) stands between her and her fresh start. Hunter Barrett isn’t ready to give up his family home, and Daisy isn’t backing down. Cue the fake engagement, heart-aching tension, and one charming island backdrop.
I adore Jonathan Island. It’s become one of my favorite fictional places to revisit—each story in this series just gets better. The spiritual themes in Sunset Cove are so rich and moving—about surrendering control, building on faith, and trusting God to write the best story. Watching Daisy and Hunter wrestle with legacy, love, and faith made this romance both swoony and deeply meaningful.
If you’re a fan of DIY makeovers, slow-burn second chances, and beautiful reminders that God knows what we need even before we do—this one’s for you.
🛠️ A home remodel. 💍 A fake fiancé. 🕊️ A second chance crafted by grace.
This book was perfection—I didn’t want it to end. ARC provided; all thoughts are my own!
Meet Me at Sunset Cove is the first book by Sarah May Warren I've read, but I can't wait to read more. It is excellently written, woven together with fantastic moments.
Daisy is a really relatable character despite her fame, and the way Sarah has written this story to include the vlogs and social media is very clever. Hunter's wrestle with forgiveness and moving is an interesting contrast to Daisy's need to renovate and constant push to move forward. Sprinkled thoughtout, the story is an intriguing faith storyline.
I really enjoyed this story, but my favourite part is the overall journey and growth of both Daisy and Hunter.
If you haven't read the earlier Jonathon Island novels, I would highly recommend reading them first as they set up this story, and lots of the earlier characters make several appearances.
I received a complimentary copy from Sunrise Publishing. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
While the overall story was cute, I did think some things just didn't work. The bad luck Barrett stuff felt really out of place in the kind, small-town community. I also thought that Hunter's issues with his mom felt forced and underdeveloped (none of his brothers seemed to be upset at her, and when he finally saw her they barely spoke about their years of issues...). And one other thing: I didn't believe for a second that Daisy would have checked her phone while holding a special stained-glass window! All that aside, the video parts were cute, and I liked that we saw their relationship develop through that in addition to the narration. I liked that they both stood up for themselves/their careers in the end. And Hunter's grand gesture was the sweetest thing ever!
