The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is often called "the holiest place in England" because of all the saints who have lived there. St. Aidan and St. Cuthbert, two popular Celtic saints, are buried there. For more than 1,300 years pilgrims have made their way to this island, which now hosts half a million visitors a year. A Holy Island Prayer Book , with prayers for morning, midday, and night, follows the rhythms and seasons of the natural and Christian year as observed on Holy Island. More contemplative than the earthy spirituality of communities such as Iona, each day of the week has a special Resurrection and renewal Creation incarnation and peace The Holy Spirit in mission and healing Community and unity With broken people at the Cross Leisure (morning) and the Saints (night) A Holy Island Prayer Book includes prayers by popular author David Adam, and is the perfect companion for anyone who has visited Holy Island, or those who are there in spirit.
Ray Simpson is Founding Guardian of the international Community of Aidan and Hilda and the author of forty books on Celtic spirituality and other subjects.
Before that he was invited to plant a Fresh Expression at Bowthorpe, Norwich: 'One Family of Christians for one New Neighbourhood' sponsored by six denominations. He has linked early Celtic monastic villages with villages of God inspired by emerging new monastic churches.
He owns a house on UK's Holy Island of Lindisfarne, where the Community of Aidan and Hilda has its Retreat House, The Open Gate and Celtic Library, but is mainly based on the nearby mainland at Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
His big project is to make 'The Way' accessible to all peoples through daily emails (enrol on www.waymarksoflife.com) and a year's app is being crowd funded.
Beautiful selection of readings & prayers in the Celtic tradition by former warden of Lindisfarne, Ray Simpson. One of the best compilations of prayers to cover morning, midday & evening prayer throughout the month. Every day different readings & prayers. This is the best!
