This novel contains extreme violence, SA, offensive language, animal deaths, Somerset accents, and squirrels.
If you go down in the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise If you go down in the woods today, you'd better go in disguise For every squirrel that ever there was Will gather there for certain because Today's the day the squirrels start eating folks' dicks. Every squirrel who's been good is chomping human meat today There's lots of kidneys things to eat and bountiful children to slay Beneath the trees where nobody sees They'll hunt and seek as long as they please That's the way the squirrels eat people, it's sick!
I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this absolute craziness. It is complete chaos and carnage. A brilliantly fun read. Imagine the squirrel from ice age, cute fuzzy dude, now imagine him amalgamated with Hannibal Lecter. Now imagine hundreds of them, running amok with a taste for human flesh... There is humour, horror and hunting a-plenty. You develop a fondness for the characters and will them on to a hopefully victory. I loved every part of this story. 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️ An absolute 5 acorns from me, and that cover is absolute fire!

Set in my home county of Somerset, and rammed with Kelvin's brilliantly dark humour, alongside buckets of gore, teeth and claws....this book is absolutely nuts.
Mike has just one job… The Abyss is home to a horrendous secret that must be protected at all costs, but of course, he fucks it up, and the Scurry are let loose on mankind, in a terrifying surge of teeth, claws and cute fluffy tails. Intent on feasting, anything or anyone that gets in their way, don't last long!
A tension filled sense of foreboding surrounds you, before the chaos of squirrel led mayhem ensues. This is full throttle carnage that'll grab you by the nuts and then proceed to rip them from you, and devour them swiftly! *chefs kiss*
Kelvin describes every painful, gory, stomach churning detail vividly...oh so fucking vividly! 🤢
I now have a new fear of squirrels, I will never be able to look one in the eye again…
Although this was a fun book to read, it definitely made me realize why my friend is terrified of rodents... with their dead eyes and twitchy tails. I think I might be scared now too! Kelvin does it again!!! Thanks for the ARC, as always, I appreciate it!
It’s tourist season at Bowden National Park. However this sprawling forest full of nature’s beauty holds a dark secret. Within the desolate reaches of this wilderness, animals seem to disappear and claims of human bodies have been rumored to be found. The local wildlife have been awaken with an unusual chittering and chomping…
It just so happens Bowden National Park acquires hordes of flesh-eating furred creatures. These bushy-tailed rodents don’t just eat acorns. If you listen closely you can hear the rustling of leaves, birds singing, the babbling of streams and the faint screams of agony. Scurry by Kelvin V A Allison taps into a primal fear of the unknown. It allows the reader to experience the terror of being preyed upon by creatures we often see, but suddenly have turned dangerous. The unease, unpredictability and brutality are the key components that churns the stomach within these pages.
After reading my first Kelvin V A Allison book, I now know what all of the horrific hubbub is about. Kelvin morphs everyday sights and sounds into unimaginable horrific scenarios. His carnage show of detailed shock and terror transforms all rational logic into pure madness. This twisted package is perfect for the splatter/extreme reader. The cover artwork brings it all together with a tidy bow of intestinal beauty.
Mother Nature can be a brutal bitch. The cruelty she holds within Scurry will make the hairs stand on the back of your neck. DO NOT under ANY circumstances feed the animals…because you are the prey. Favorite quote…”What the Hell is that?” A five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation.
I was born and raised in NYC, so squirrels were a regular sight for me. I saw them as cute animals. However, in Scurry, they are one's worst nightmare. Kelvin has managed to turn an innocent animal into an absolute killer and I loved it!
The death scenes are detailed, I mean DETAILED! So make sure your stomach and mind are ready for them. It has the classic B-Movie feel to it, which is what I expected from such a title. The ending was also not what I expected either.
If you enjoy creature horror reads, you need to check out scurry. Just be warned, squirrels might not look the same when you're done reading. Did I mention, these critters are fast and are really hungry? If I did and you still want to read the book, have fun!
Scurry written by Kelvin V A Allison - author. Release date 1st April 2025.
Killer squirrels 🐿️ Hungry squirrels 🐿️ A Scurry of squirrels 🐿️
Can you guess who’s going to survive? Could you fight and outrun a Scurry? The images of gore I got from this read is just pure gold. I loved every single page. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys some guts spill reading!
Wow! Never did I know squirrels ate meat!! In this story these cute little shits have a huge taste for flesh and no one is safe! There's plenty of gore, awesome characters, and jokes! It was a fun read.
As someone who sees squirrels up close daily, this story now has me on edge going out into the garden. As soon as I hear that old familiar chitter of a hungry squirrel, I'm off, and that's all thanks to Kelvin VA Allison, and his newest offering Scurry. Another amazing read where no one is safe from the furry little fuckers. They bring destruction, mutilation and death. They come in massive hordes, and those little teeth can do some damage. Just consider next time you see a squirrel, is it craving nuts...or flesh! A highly recommended gross read. Check it out!
After the rats, the crabs, and the piranhas - Allison's "Scurry" brings squirrels! Their origin story is, well, original, and could have easily taken a volume in itself (perhaps we' ll get a more detailed prequel?). In any case, KILLER SQUIRRELS!
Swarms of them, living together in a beautiful gorge full of ancient oaks in the southern reaches of a national park in Somerset, eagerly learning to happily engorge themselves on human flesh provided by a rotten-to-the-core serial killer - till, of course, the sob messes up, and the rodents are free to roam the park, devouring everyone inside. The large (and very liekable) cast provides them with ample food, and the vast park, where lumberjacks go to work, rangers are on patrol, and families gather to spend some nice time, is the perfect feeding ground for the cute, bushy-tailed, hungry animals!
Not only was I entertained by the incredibly detailed and terrifying squirrel attacks, not only did I enjoy the cinematically described chases and the gory killings - I also learnt that squirrels do actually eat meat, they can chew flesh as easily as crack a nut open! I had no idea. So the book isn't just aterrific creature feature, it has educational value as well. Of course I recommend it!
I've read several horror books about different kinds of animals, and they're all terrifying but in a way that I feel like if it happened in real life, I could manage an escape or orchestrate a fight or a defense for myself.
Scurry is one of those animal horror stories that left me feeling scared for my life, even though there are no such creatures where I live. I feel like if I got caught in the middle of that, I would just give in and die a very horrible death.
A scurry of squirrels, cute as they may be, just might be the one group of animals I would not want to be caught in the middle of.
Thank you to Kelvin V.A. Allison for gifting me an ARC of this book, which is set to come out sometime in March of this year. I am so excited for everyone to read it!
Who knew that squirrels could be nasty little gits! This was a great read with plenty of gore and a smattering of humour,as squirrels go on a killing rampage in a national park.a park with many dark secrets that leads the little critters to on a path of killing and destruction.
I've always said squirrels are rat bastards, and I've been vindicated by this awesome little creature feature. The pages are dripping with viscera as the vile rodents rip to shreds anything that crosses their path. No orifice is safe when these bushy tailed rats are hungry. Hold onto your acorns as you venture into these woods!
Absolutely incredible book , who knew that squirrels were such savage little critters Some great characters and some wonderful deaths , I’ll never look at a squirrel the same way again , I love creature features and this definitely hit the mark , a very easy 5 stars , I would highly recommend this book
These squirrels are damn hungry for nuts…and flaps!
Everyone knows to avoid the Abyss in the National Park, but no one knows why. The Scurry kept in abeyance by those who feed them, but when sacrifices are no longer offered, these hungry chittering critters come out to feast.
A creature feature with a difference. Gory gristle galore. And a whole lot of fun.
Squirrels are docile, sweet little creatures, with an adorable fluffy tail scampering around the forest. We don't normally think of them as vicious little flesh-eating annihilators with insatiable appetites, but Kelvin V.A. Allison welcomes us into this world with his newest upcoming release (due out at the end of March), Scurry.
A scurry is essentially a pack, or cluster of squirrels. For a long time, the vicious scurry in the Bowden Forest were satiated by sacrifices that the former Forest Warden threw into the area where they nested. Before he died, he let his son know that he was passing this task on to him, the next head Forest Warden. We learn about the despicable way in which he uses the sacrifices to his advantage to expunge any evidence of his killings and raping.
Further on, the sacrifices cease, and the scurry runs rampant with hunger. The ensure on a journey of creatively destroying everything in their path, until they are ultimately destroyed, or are they?
Only Allison could write a plausible way in which these docile creatures could become a violent cluster of flesh devouring deviants. This was a super fun read, and as always, I so thankful to have received an ARC from Kelvin. I am a huge fan of his work, and this definitely did not disappoint!
Five out of five rating. Not for the faint of heart.
Scurry is an action packed creature feature featuring, yes, killer squirrels! It’s amazing the damage these nasty little rodents do, and the places they find themselves in to do that damage.
The story finds us in the peaceful setting of Bowden National Park. Well, most of it is tranquil, but make sure you don’t venture into a secluded area where the flesh eating squirrels have made their home.
The death of one ranger starts the rampage, and the squirrels break their boundary to wreak havoc on both the remaining park rangers and visitors alike.
This is an extreme novel, not for the faint of heart, but I had a blast reading it. So grab your nuts, a copy of this book, and prepare to be grossed out!
Another book of carnage from this author with genius story telling skills! It's obvious from the title and cover art that this book involves animals (not for you if that's your trigger!) but I wasn't expecting the level of gut pouring, eyeball eating, nut ripping carnage with an absolutely top rate body count! I loved the humourous dialogue and relationship dynamics throughout. The gore scenes and creative kills were perfectly described to make my heart race, and keep me hopeful for some kind of survival. The ending was fantastic and not what I was expecting at all! All together a gore filled, fast paced and fun read.
Ah Somerset, the land of cider and...killer squirrels!
What a fun read this was, it was exactly what I wanted out of a book about murderous, fuzzy, forest cuties. The story didn't try to be too serious, it was humorous but also had graphic and visceral descriptions that really kept pushing to the forefront how dangerous these little beasts were. No one and no body part was safe!
Being born and bred in Somerset, I have to say I felt the warm and fuzzies at the local areas mentioned that I knew well, and it helped me imagine everything being said in the local accent (my accent!).
This was the first of Kelvin's books I have read but definitely won't be the last!
I was sucked in from the start! This was my first book from this author, and I’m definitely a fan for life.
The idea of an animal living alongside us day by day becoming bloodthirsty and savage is honestly terrifying. Yes, one or two maybe not a huge deal, but dealing with hundreds…?
Nah, that’s a living nightmare. Small, beady-eyed ninja assassins.
I highly recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a fun, gore-filled adventure.
Hey, maybe you’ll think twice before pissing off any animals who tend to be seen as harmless.Who knows what they could be planning next?
Wow, this book has completely changed my opinion on the lovely British squirrels we see around the UK, seemingly harmless to everyone around....
This book tells a lot of stories about these vile, little killer squirrels that have taken up residence in a national park. The squirrels are taking over, killing everyone in their path but is anyone able to put a stop to this chaos once and for all??
This was a gory, funny, and very different creature-feature read. Definitely not what I was expecting, and the book artwork is pretty impressive too.
Absolutely phenomenal. There's a lot of characters in this which usually I don't like but with this I didn't mind as most people were just there to get annihilated by squirrels 🤣 a unique premise which I did enjoy and the author had a way of really painting the image in my head. So thanks I shall forever see squirrels as humans consuming maniacs 😂 Well done another enjoyable read by this author!
Absolutely loved this title. As a fan of the pulp/eco horror genere this was a straight up love letter to it. Killer animals ? Check Over the top gore ? Check Interesting characters? Check Do not miss this one fantastic work as always from this amazing author.
Cool premise but I couldn’t get past the virtual narrator. If I had noticed before purchasing I would have skipped it. If they can’t afford to pay an actor author read books are cool too.
