They all think they can sleep their way to the top - blondes, brunettes and redheads. That is, until they meet me. My name is DeVon Ricci and I’m an asshole. At least they all seem to think so. But I don’t give a shit because they never last long. Two or three weeks tops, then they're gone. Not that it matters. There’s always another talent waiting to take a seat on the casting couch, but I've yet to find what I'm looking for. I know what I want and I won't settle for less. I'm always chasing perfection.

Now it looks like he has everything he could ever want, except for the perfect woman.

What can I say? I literally wanted to slap this dude the entire book. I only finished because it was so short. Dude was a jackass and I won't continue the series.
Not for me. It may work for you. This is just my opinion.
The heroine is not someone I cared for or someone I would be friends with. She thinks about sex with about every male she meets and has sex with them unless (and maybe) if they were a client or potential client. (loc 335). I wonder if she thought about sex with her BFF's boyfriend. She seemed like the type to me. Another annoying thing, Kate thinks everyone is into her. I like confident heroines, but she was constantly complimenting herself. I felt like she felt everyone was into her. Every guy she met, she thought wanted her. Her inner dialogue (loc 354) annoyed me. She was overly confident (in the wrong places) and overly sexual. She had sex with strangers that she may or may not remember their name. (loc 881).
The story and "relationship" and interaction between these two couples felt sleazy and just...how do I say gross. I am not telling you not to read this book or series. Reading is subjective. You may love it.
DeVon Ricci. Even just his name radiates sexuality and authority. He is a powerful man in Hollywood, the head of his own Talent Agency – Mirage. Immigrating to the USA from Italy at a young age, he has worked tirelessly to make a name for himself, to make his business a thriving success. And when you’ve become a force such as he has, you should be able to take what you want, when you want it right? Well that’s how he sees things, and he definitely sees something he wants in Krissy Jensen.
Krissy Jensen is an up and coming lawyer in New York City – when she is offered a once in a lifetime job opportunity in LA, she is thrilled. I mean come on, who wouldn’t want to move to Hollywood?? The people watching alone would make it worthwhile ;) Travelling to a new city is challenging in the best of situations, throw in an interview at a high profile company and Krissy’s nerves are on edge as she enters a new world. Krissy’s character is fantastic, she is a no nonsense woman – beautiful, strong, tough and intelligent. I thought her choice to move across the country to experience something new was a brave one, and M.S. Parker does a fantastic job of setting the stage for the rest of the books in this series.
DeVon and Krissy’s encounters are fascinating, I really enjoyed reading about these two! Krissy is put to the test during the interview process, the most unorthodox questions and situations are thrust upon her. DeVon is not a man that trusts easily and he definitely puts Krissy through her paces. Not a lot of women would have lasted through his ridiculous antics, however she has the character traits that make her a challenge to him – something he hasn’t experienced.
Their chemistry is undeniable, the pull they feel is magnetic and intoxicating. Like any powerful male, DeVon feels he should be able to make Krissy bend to his will – however, that is not the type of woman she is. When she refuses to conform, he is both frustrated and intrigued and very, very interested. He not only wants her in his company, but in his bed as well..
This is a quick read with spark and spunk and one badass alpha male. I definitely recommend it and can’t wait for the rest of the books in this series. I have a feeling that Chasing Perfection is one race you aren’t going to want to miss.

This was a very quick, fast paced read. DeVon Ricci is the owner of Mirage Talent Agency, and has an ego to rival ANY Alpha Male character I've ever read. Krissy is a smart, strong, stubborn attorney from NYC who is looking to make a life in California. She comes to Hollywood to interview for a position in Mr.Ricci's company... but the interview process is ANYTHING but "normal". The characters drew me in, the writing kept my attention, and the chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS! This story had some steamy scenes, it has a bit of humour, but mostly it hooked me in and I can't wait for August for the 2nd installment!
Chasing Perfection is the spin-off to Club Prive (Krissy's story).
We are introduced to DeVon Ricci, owner of Mirage Talent. He's controlling in all ways possible, not only in his life but the life of others around him. Alpha like, sexy, no resolve, no hesistation, did I mention he's also a Dom? He goes through women faster than a blink of an eye. All women in the industry want one thing, and that's to get to the top and they will sleep their way to the top if needed. Women are a dime a dozen in this town, with women like that why would he invest in a long term relationship? Till one affects him in a way that can't be explained but he brushes it off...not knowing what to do with these flashes of a specific woman that appears in his mind at inconvenient times. This woman that can deliver at every turn, is not one he will easily let go.
Krissy leaves New York, for an opportunity of a lifetime. She comes across DeVon, words can't describe how much he gets under her skin and not in a good way...but there are moments that make her flush and hot...but those moments don't occur enough. Besides, he's her boss. and someone that controlling she doesn't need in her life, she rather have fun and focus on her career. Taylor shows up, nice guy, persuasive, a little pushy as to letting her know he wants her. He could be fun to hang out with...but clients and agents don't mix...
A great build-up to the series....I want to see what develops between all of the characters. ~Book gifted in exchange for honest review
I am surprised I was able to finish this book to be honest. I don't like to read graphic sex with people other than the h & H. They had sex with others at the drop of the hat. I can't believe I don't hate the H. I mean I kind of do but I still finished this book. The H is not only a manwhore he runs an agency that finds roles for models/acting or what not. But he constantly used his position to manipulate women who wanted their break in Hollywood. He dangled the carrot and he got sex. Lots of it. He actually reminded me of a slimeball. The h has the hots for Mr. Creepy and even fantasizes about him while with another guy. How she even took a job with him I'm astounded and did lose some respect for that . She initially told him off and walked out on him and showed she wouldn't be played. And she hasn't slept with him so I give kudos for that, but I'd feel dirty just being in the same room. I mean he tried to shake her hand with the hand he'd just been fingering some girl with! Nasty! I think that girl was also one of his up and (cumming) actresses he uses who want employment. Can anyone say sexual harassment! I give it three stars for the train wreck I couldn't stop reading but now I just feel I need a scalding hot bath. Some may love it and I will probably read the next if its at a reduced price.

I love this author and absolutely adored her previous series, Club Privé. This is the first book in a trilogy with the next two books coming out over the next couple of months. The only reason that it has lost a star is for the fact this is the start of the story and as such an introduction to the characters and the story.
The story was one that I really enjoyed and I cannot wait to find out the secrets that DeVon hides, you just know that there is a reason for how he is. I loved the lead female, Krissy, already having loved her from her appearance in the Club Privé series as Carrie’s best friend and flatmate.
The story itself doesn’t have much occur between the two leads romantically beyond both of them fanaticising about the other one. However don’t mistake this for their not being any sex scenes, there are, one of them being more risqué than the other (yup the one with DeVon!).
I cannot wait to see how Krissy responds to what DeVon does at the end of the book. With her character I can envision it going a number of ways, each of them in my mind being a great option!!
Please note that I was given a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
M.S. Parker hooked me with her Club Prive series. The book is a good introduction to a new setting and cast of characters. This book follows a secondary character from the Club Prive series, Krissy, as she begins a new life on the West Coast. I like the character of Krissy, very much. She showed her true colors in the previous series, as Carrie's best friend. As Carrie starts her new life with Gavin and a new facet of her career, Krissy decides to apply for a job with a talent agency in LA. Her introduction to her potential boss is unorthodox to say the least. The job at Mirage Talent may be more than she expected.
From the first page Devon, does nothing to endear himself to the reader or to Krissy. I found myself disliking him nearly from page one. I warmed a little to him by the end, but I still don't like him or his behavior very much. I'm sure that will change as the series goes on. There is a chemistry between DeVon and Krissy, but there is another man who she finds attractive. DeVon is definitely all alpha and in control at all times. Krissy will absolutely test his control as she creeps into his thoughts at the most inopportune times. To be fair DeVon crosses her mind more than she cares to admit.
I look forward to the next installment of the series. The twist at the end will definitely make the reader want to pick up the next book.
Parker is brilliant! DeVon owns a talent agency where people are used to doing "anything" to get discovered. He's far from shy and gets what he wants, always. Krissy, Carrie's roommate from the Club Prive series, is moving to LA and trying to work for Mirage Talent as a lawyer. The sexual chemistry between DeVon and Krissy could keep a light bulb on for hours and that's just from the interview. I love that Krissy is different from Carrie in that she has a powerful, smart and witty way about her. She gets what she wants too. Luckily this will have 3 parts and if you don't like cliffhangers just wait to read them together. The cliffhanger leaves you wanting more but it's not an unbearable cliff, just enough to be exciting. Thank you M.S. Parker for a copy, this was a pleasure to read.
The fabulous MS Parker does it again! Another steamy, scorching read will have you panting for more. The Club Prive series featured the very sexy Gavin and the lovely Carrie. Now, we have Krissy, Carrie's BFF. I loved Krissy and I am so happy she finally gets her story told. She's smart, sassy, sexy and stubborn. Krissy is turning her life around and decides that a serious change is in order and interviews for a new job in Hollywood where she meets Devon, her potential new boss. Devon is a sexy, domineering asshole and I love him. The sex scenes were blistering and the plot is thickening as both Devon and Krissy try to fight an undeniable attraction to another.
This might be a short read but it leaves nothing to the imagination. Well written, great flow and I can not wait for the next book.
M.S. Parker does it again! I did not think she could write a better story than Club Price but boy was I wrong. This series is going to be just as good. I love how the characters are wrote into each story. M.S Parker is a very talented writer and has became one of my favorites. I hate to get to the end of each book not wanting it to end and I'm counting down the days and hours to the next book. You will not be disappointed In any of her books and I highly recommended each one. Each book is a fast read and keeps your interest till the end.
OK, what the hell did I just read?!! How can such disgusting, self-absorbed jackass be a at all desirable -at least in the framework of a decent romance novel?!!
- the hero is a fucking arsehole who disrespects and uses women and talks about them as though they are pets to be trained - the heroine says stupid shit like "I can't believe we're having cake again... it's only been two months since we had cake for your graduation party" as if cake is normally only a biannual event or something - sycophantic fawning over the heroine: "Women in LA who look like you are models or actresses" etc - a hero who is so far beyond a sexual harassment lawsuit - said hero pulling sexual stuff that I'm going to say is illegal in some kind of screwed up informal job interview FOR A NEW LAWYER - the heroine who has no problem dismissing New York's history as just "old" - both characters have egos bigger than the planet
I have no interest in a HEA for these two. If anything I hope they're both killed by one of the women who the hero is happy enough to fuck but can't show a modicum of respect and there are, therefore, no sequels.
DeVon is the head of one of the top talent agencies in LA. He is not only ruthless in his business but also his sex life. Knowing he can get any woman he wants, he does frequently and he is always in charge whether they are calling him Sir or Master. Krissy has just become part of the agency and having started off getting the job through the most unconventional “interviews”, Krissy is willing to do whatever it takes to make it in this career, even if that means taking on the top man himself.
“My name is DeVon Ricci and I’m an asshole. At least they all seem to think so. But I don’t give a shit because they never last long.”
I freaking LOVED this book hard. I have been searching and searching for an erotic/romance book that was as good as some of my favourites, for so long now I never thought I would find another 5 star. But this story delivered it and more and I rate it up there with some of my all time favourites.
DeVon was beyond sexy. One of the best dominants I have ever read. He was cold, calculating, ruthless, demanding, sexy, hot, powerful…I could go on and on describing how much I loved him and why but honestly ladies you deserve to discover him for yourself. Just be prepared to read this book in private so you can fully enjoy all that is DeVon.
” I never lost control. I WAS control.”
Krissy was an amazing female lead. Normally in this sort of genre the female can be a little weak or too passive for my liking. There was nothing passive about Krissy. Feisty, determined, strong, confident- she is the best example to prove that you don’t have to be meek or shy to like being controlled in the bedroom.
“He’d f**k me hard enough to make me see stars. He wouldn’t treat me like I could break, but he’d try to break me.”
The plot itself was massively entertaining. I read through this so quickly as it kept me hooked, not wanting to stop and put it down. The sex scenes were hot, the amount of drama was just right and the interaction of Krissy and Devon was just the cherry on top for me. The writing was brilliant; the story just flowed so well and the language used especially in the sex scenes and conversations between the main two was just perfect. Not over the top or forceful in trying to be sexy. I literally couldn’t stop reading.
“His face held the promise of something I’d never felt before…”
My one negative…I WANT MORE! This is a shorter story with around 200 pages but with the next two books coming out rather quickly this hasn’t annoyed me as it normally does and I can’t wait for the next one to find out what happens between Devon and Krissy.
This story is up there with my favourites of this genre and a huge well done to the author for achieving a brilliant book in what is a very competitive genre.

From the author who brought us Club Prive, which was amazing, we now have Chasing Perfection. This is Krissy’s story that was in Club Prive. Krissy wants more than just being a boring lawyer in NY, her dreams are to go to the west coast. When Krissy goes to California for her interview she is nervous and excited. Boy was she in for a big surprise! Her second interview wasn’t supposed to be until the next morning, however, DeVon Ricci, owner of the Mirage Talent Agency, decides not to wait until then. WOW is all I can say. The lengths DeVon goes to for some things are just crazy. The chemistry between Krissy and DeVon is off the charts even though he is a total jerk, hot jerk none the less. This will be another awesome romance series and I can’t wait for the next installment!
Characters: well written and you feel like you actually can get into the characters frame of mind
I loved this story and did not want to put it down. We are introduced to Devon, Krissy and Taylor. Devon and Krissy are both confident, sexual and speak their mind. Devon likes control not only in his life, but he likes to control those around him, and that he does. He has rules, which conveniently don’t apply to him. Having so many women at his disposal, he goes through them very fast, with no feelings attached. Krissy is an attorney, she leaves New York and goes to California for a job interview at Devon’s talent agency. But, Devon with his controlling ways derails Krissy’s plan. She flew out to interview for a job in the legal department; Devon makes her an offer that is hard to refuse. Taylor is an aspiring (struggling) actor, a very sweet guy who seems to like Krissy, but again Devon controls the situation. The ending is sure to make for a very interesting continuation in the next book. I am excited to see how Devon and Krissy will handle each other when finally the fire erupts between them. I was provided with a copy of the book in exchanged for an honest review.
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."
This is a quick, hot read, which promises a great deal from this new series from Ms Parker. I recently read, and reviewed her Club Prive series, and was delighted to have news of those characters too. I will be looking out for the books as they come out, so that I get the full story as it unfolds.
I really enjoyed the introduction to the lead characters - one perfectly wicked and one wonderfully sassy, both hot and both intelligent. The way that play each other is fun to read and, wow, how I wish that I had Krissy's confidence. There is definitely a great story developing in these plot lines. When things take off, the heat is going to endanger my Kindle.
Chasing Perfection is about Krissy, a lawyer looking for a job better than what she has now. she gets an offer from Mirage Talent. She decides to take that chance and maybe she'll find a better future for herself. Little did she know how she'll catch the attention of the boss's, DeVon Ricci, eye. He is known for his other "activities" besides running the firm. So he is used to getting his way. However, will Krissy by an easier conquest for him?
The only part of this book I liked was how Krissy was a woman not to be messed with. unlike DeVon, she is a woman you'd like to chat with in a coffee shop or doctor's waiting room. The part where she .. i really enjoyed her putting him down everh turn.
The only draw back was how unlikable DeVon was as a main character. He was very controlling and rude. and I just did not like him.
** I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**
I am new to these characters, I never read the Club Prive Series.
I immediately found this to be a page turner. DeVon Ricci is the bad boy womanizing alpha we all want to hate, but can't. Krissy Jensen isn't the typical virginal helpless woman that the alpha usually goes for.
I loved the build up of chemistry between the two. It leaves you wanting so much more to happen. I can't wait till till volume 2. Picked up Club Prive #1 while I wait for the next installment. M.S. Parker will definitely be added to my TBR list.
“I didn’t want someone more interested in what was between my legs than what was between my ears.”
My Review:
I recently read the Club Prive series by the same author, and enjoyed it immensely. The female lead in Chasing Perfection branches off from the Club Prive story, and while I do enjoy her story line, I am not sure I will enjoy this series as much as I did Club Prive, as I am having a hard time stomaching the main male character, DeVon. He is a cruel bastard, and a total asshole. I enjoy Ms. Parker’s writing, which never fails to provide crisp imagery, but I really cannot see myself investing my time in such a sadistic prick. This is a much edgier read...
To be honest, I didn't read just this volume. I read the whole collection including the epilogue. I will always love the alpha male. I'm just glad that unlike 50 Shades, Hard Wired, and CrossFire....that they don't have to start with a broken man. Not that the world isn't full of broken people. But personally, I read to escape reality, not wallow in it. And I LOVED that Krissy was not another mindless submissive. Getting kind of sick of that, too. But this book had strong, independent characters who would go to the wall (or mat, respectively) to protect people they care about. Since there were 6 volumes in the collection I read, I was ready for some drawn out nonsense. Thankfully, that is not what I got. I really, really enjoyed this mini-series.
I mean, I have to be honest, at first I wasn't feeling it because of my own personal issues but I kept on reading and my liking for the story progressed. I like how the characters are a bit realistic in some cases and how they basically behave like non-traditional characters in other books, that totally won me over. Looking forward to reading the other two installments as soon as my hectic life clears up and gives me a break but seriously, liked it and awesome writing style :)
Loved it!!! M.S. Parker knocked it out of the park again!!! Krissy is looking to move across the country for a new job that is until she meets her new boss. There's something about him that pulls her in by to fraternizing allowed which is fine with her?!? A MUST READ!!!
Krissy Jensen is a young attorney who gets a chance to move from New York to Los Angeles to work for a talent agency. Her new boss, DeVon Ricci is powerful and manipulative and a playboy who likes control. This book is part of a serial (which I don't particularly care for, but since the series seems to be on KU I can treat it like one book) and this first installment is about Krissy's journey in getting her job and moving to California. If the beginning is anything like the installments to follow, it looks like DeVon will be one hot, hot guy!
2.75 Stars Really just needed to be one compete book instead of broken up into so many 'Parts'. Would have rated it a little higher if it had been one complete book. Erotica
