God’s Divine Design for Dating and Marriage is an exhaustive answer to what God thinks about love and sexuality and provides a step-by-step process for building God-centered relationships. As they wandered through the wilderness, God provided Moses and the Israelites with instructions for the Tabernacle. More than a building, the Tabernacle was a sacred space for covenant. Its design provides modern believers with a blueprint for reflecting God’s glory through intimacy. You
I discovered this Kindle book in February when it was being offered for free, and being interested, downloaded it and started reading it the next day. I was very impressed and it is definitely very different from all the other books on dating and marriage that are out there.
I really appreciated Chrystal Armstrong starting the book out by explaining about what a covenant is and going through the covenants in the Bible that God made, what their purpose was and how important they were. Then she talks about the marriage covenant and what that really means.
She made the point clearly, but also leaves you with a sense of awe as you take on a new appreciation for what marriage in God’s eyes really means. This is a message in itself that I think needs to be more clearly taught in churches today. We know marriage is for life, that God instituted it, and that we need to be discerning when choosing a marriage partner; but how many of us really take on board the solemn covenant that marriage entails? I liked how the author brought this out.
I also found myself walking through the tabernacle in a new way. I have heard many different sermons on the tabernacle and have enjoyed discovering how God wanted to meet with His people in the desert, and this was the way it would be done. I had never once considered it in relation to the dating, courtship and marriage process, but as Chrystal Armstrong walked me through the outer court, the inner court, and finally the holy of holies, and lined it up with how our relationships should be with God and each other, I saw God’s glorious plan for us enfold in a new and refreshing way.
A great book for singles, although I do think married people will appreciate reading it too. I can also see how this book can be very valuable with those working in youth groups. Taking the lessons on the tabernacle and linking it to the dating, courtship, marriage process will make the Bible come alive for teens and give them a vision to keep themselves pure for marriage as well as pure during it.
