A widow at the age of twenty-eight, Maggie Benning, resolves to establish a successful and independent life for herself and her five-year-old son, Andy. She's reconstructing her shattered life when Graeme McAlister comes back to McTiernan, Texas and stirs up old memories and feelings she thought long buried. Can she overcome past hurt and loss of trust to accept the possibility of a new love in her life?

The official reports say he committed suicide after a drug overdose while flying the company jet. She lost her job and a respected RN when she was accused of stealing the drugs her husband took. Uncover operative, Graeme McAlister doesn’t believe any of it and he is back in Texas to uncover the truth that has eluded the officials. His gut says his brother did not kill himself just as adamantly as it knows that Maggie, the widowed mother did not steal the drugs that took her husband’s life. What neither of them expected was that old feelings from long ago may be re-kindled and they could get a second chance at the love they let go.

Hang on tight as Carra Copelin takes us into a sinister world of deceit, death and danger in Code of Honor as two determined people join forces to uncover the truth that has torn lives apart and left scars of doubt in a small Texas town. Part mystery, part romance and completely engaging, Ms. Copelin fills each scene in deep detail until you become part of this twisted tale as it is playing out. For romance lovers who enjoy the re-kindling of love and the re-growing of trust, it’s here between Graeme and Maggie. Add a sweet child to the mix and even the coldest heart will begin to melt. As the danger mounts, and the tension increases don’t be surprised if you find yourself holding your breath! From start to finish be prepared for the unexpected as the suspense unfolds.

I received this copy from Carra Copelin in exchange for my honest review.

This reminded me so much of the early books by Sandra Brown.

Graeme and Maggie have known each other for years, but finally have a chance at making a life together, if they stay alive long enough!

Love develops during the solving of a mystery (without lots of gore). Likable characters, true friends, lovers you admire, clear cut good guys versus bad guys, with a sad death thrown in to keep it real. Clues embedded throughout the story lead you to the conclusion you were hoping for.

Thanks for the Goodreads giveaway. My first chance to read the work of this author. Looking forward to her next book (with a character from this one)!

I won a copy of Code of Honor from the author, Carra Copelin, through a Goodreads giveaway (a big thank you by the way). The book is based on Graeme coming home to solve the mystery surrounding the death of his foster brother Wyatt. Graeme must also unravel and sort out his past with Wyatt’s widow. I became vested in the story quite quickly. Character development was good, engaging. A mystery and love story all rolled into one. A delightful and easy read.

This was my first time reading a book written by Carra Copelin, and I am looking forward to the next in the series.

The name choices were so hard to read, not sure why they had to be so out there in difference. I did like the storyline, however, the relationship between Graeme and Maggie moved very fast for the situation they were in. Not sure how I feel about this one.

I read this book as part of the '9 ways to fall in love' anthology. It was ok. I liked the characters, but didn't see how all the secret ops guys could miss so much of what was going on.
