Teach Your 3 to 7 Year Old Math

Rate this book
In this eBook an experienced Montessori teacher shows parents how to use a clear sequence of activities to teach their 3-5 year old children about mathematics; or to help their 6-7 year olds who are struggling with math to succeed. Most activities use common items. Recommendations are also given for affordable hands-on math learning materials, and for the very best ipad math apps for young children. A link is included to a free collection of math printables for use with many of the activities. Ideas on helping children learn are followed by activities to develop pre-math skills, and then amounts and numerals into the thousands, the Decimal System, operations with numbers, fractions, solid and plane geometric shapes, and many activities for using math skills in everyday life. Most children naturally develop an increased interest in numbers and language at around 3-5 years of age. This book shows you how to make the most of this sensitive period to give your child a firm foundation of math skills, and a positive, confident attitude toward number work that will carry on throughout the school years. There is no need for children to dislike math! Starting early with these fun, simple activities, you can send your child to kindergarten or first grade already doing math at a second to fourth grade level, setting the stage for early and continued success. If your child is having problems with math in kindergarten through second grade, these activities can save the day and turn math from a struggle to success!

As a former Montessori Directress, the activities and materials are familiar. Good directions and illustrations. Unfortunately, some of the links are broken.

Lots of activity ideas

Lots of activity ideas. It’s a shame they make you post a minimum number of words for a review. The book is good though.

I'm finished with Teach Your 3 to 7 Year: Not so impressed. There are samples of lessons and how sequentially present them to kids, but not enough insights on kids are really learning those concepts. The book is strictly based on the Montessori method, which I approve of very much, but I felt the plentiful suggestions, links for materials and printables a little bit excessive.
