Enraged that he’d been diddled out of his rightful inheritance, their nephew Charlie Louden had decided to take the law, and a machete, into his own hands. Now he’s being considered for early release from prison.

Blizzard tries to put their fears to rest. Charlie is apparently a changed man. And surely the parole board would not make such a grave mistake.

John Dean is a freelance journalist who has runs his own business and draws heavily on his years as a crime reporter for newspapers and magazines to create his novels.

He is a member of the Crime Writers’ Association and cites Sherlock Holmes as his all-time favorite detective. He lives in the South West of Scotland.

Gripping! Intriguing! A Massive Twist!

This was an enjoyable and entertaining read. Also gripping drama with enough twists and turns to make you dizzy. Ranging from Hafton in the UK to Singapore, DCI Blizzard is following the trail of murder, money laundering, fraud, narcotics, and corruption. Add in a couple who were brutally attacked and left for dead over 16 years previously, and are terrified that their attacker is being released from prison. The fact that he is a family member only raises the level anxiety.

Fast paced, intriguing with multiple plots and suspects Blizzard and his team have their hands full. Add in a high profile public servant and he and his team are having trouble not only keeping ahead of the perpetrators, but trying to anticipate their next move. This story races at break neck speed to a stunning conclusion that I never saw coming. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed!

I really enjoyed this book from John Dean. It starts off gently enough - a couple who have been the victims of a nasty assault are worried when the perpetrator is about to be released from jail. But it soon develops into a multi-layered full blown crime fest.
DCI Blizzard is very well portrayed as a rather unconventional detective who isn't afraid to go out on a limb when needs be, and his team have clearly been well trained by him in the same vein.
I genuinely found it hard to put this one down, as I am sure you will too.

Saved the best until now. A compelling thriller that takes us half way round the world to get a result in an extremely complex case. With arson, murder, money laundering and bribery involved makes this hard work for Blizzard, Colley and the up and coming Allard. A case that senior officers thought could be the downfall of Blizzard.
Brilliantly written with just enough humorous moments to take the edge of the seriousness of this novel.

This was an enjoyable British crime drama where DCI Blizzard and his team are faced with the release of a prisoner...what will be the consequences?

There were plenty of twists in this well-written story and it was good to see the team on form. I particularly liked the banter between Blizzard and Colley.

Engaging throughout. Great series...will there be any more, I wonder?

Dean is a master of police procedurals. I really enjoy the DCI John Blizzard series, and this one doesn't disappoint. Even though he and members of the NHS and police force have to go far afield to uncover the links between a local murder and an international money laundering scheme, he stays in character. Well-paced plot.

Did not see that ending coming!

Nephew Charlie Louden was convicted of attacking Jean and Robert Rawmarch. They are concerned as he will be released in a few days. Meanwhile a body has been discovered in an old carpet factory.

I always enjoy John Dean’s books. I have read them all. He tells intriguing stories every time. I love the characters in each series. I will be waiting for the next book!
