Isabella Rae has been writing for over 10 years but never published because she was discouraged by the publishing process. Recently a friend of hers released a book through self-publishing and inspired Isabella to release her first book. When Isabella is not writing she is busy being a single mom to 2 beautiful girls, and works as a baker, and server at a local restaurant.
This is a very impressive debut read from Isabella Rae. Having never read anything by her before I wasn’t sure how I would feel about her writing style. It was fantastic. She totally drew me into this story. Ms. Rae writes with the hand of a seasoned author. A Workplace Affair is a book filled with illicit passion, sex, sizzle, drama, and yes, laughter. Leland Ambrose is a hard-working, hard- loving alpha male who started his company when he was very young. He is now wealthy and dominant male who knows what he wants. And what does he want? Victoria Bryant. She is trying to work her way up the corporate ladder and eventually begins a torrid affair with her boss, Leland. There is drama and misunderstandings. Leland must decide between the woman who has captured his heart and his company. This plot sounds tired and worn out but Ms. Rae has actually breathed new life into this storyline. I was intrigued and interested throughout the entire book. It helps that the story never lags and that her characters are interesting and well rounded. Leland is a sexy male who doesn’t compromise, he goes after what he wants, he’s an alpha, but there is something about him that is very alluring and I ended up really liking him. Victoria is one tough, smart lady. She has a very strong will is gorgeous as well. I loved the interactions between these two characters. They could be flirty but they could also be hot as all get out. You wanted them to sort through all their problems and get together. I would recommend this to those readers that like a smart, sexy, bold read that features intelligent lead characters. I really enjoyed everything about this book and can’t wait for the second book in the series. 4.5 out of 5 stars from me.
A Workplace Affair is one of those rare gems of a read. I mean I loved the book cover and after reading the blurb I said man this is my kind of book and boy oh boy was I right. Isabella has crafted such a story that grabs you right from the start. I mean this is one of those stories that has you laughing, crying, and yelling at the characters all in one breathe.
Victoria has worked her way up the ladder in her profession but her one downfall was falling for her boss. Falling for the boss is never a good idea but when you can't help it you can't help it.
Leland Ambrose has it all. He is young and talented and has his own business. He is an alpha male and gets what he wants when he wants it and when he sets his eyes on Victoria she is his siren calling to him in ways he never knew he needed and wanted.
This love affair is one that starts off with a bang and ends with a bang. So many secrets and lies are uncovered and when the truth comes out and shit hits the fan Leland will be left with some tough decisions and he may just have to crawl and grovel to get back the one girl he needs his siren.
When Victoria walks away she knows it is for good but her heart is telling her one thing and he logic and mind are telling her another. What does she do? Does she follow her heart or does she follow her mind.....
This is a must read first book to a series I know is going to kick ass! Happy Reading :)
Victoria Bryant was different girl when she was in the sixth grade. Everything had changed. Until she met her best friend Sage McCarthy. They were inseparable until Sage moved away. Then when Sage needed her best friend the most she turned to Victoria. They both leaned on each other and lived their lives as young women pursuing careers. One day the owner of the Realty company Victoria worked for had come into town. Every female in the company wanted to get a look at him and have a chance to pursue him. Victoria realized shortly after seeing him for the first time he was pursuing her ad had been since he first laid eyes on her a couple of days ago. But having the good looking bachelor boss pure you may not end in the classic love story. Isabella Rae has really portrayed the concept at love at first sight. How a woman can have such a strong effect in a man. In the book "A Work Place Affair" she showed the sweet classic love that unfolded between Victoria and Leland. She also shows that no matter how much love they have obstacles are still thrown their way. The question is are they able to make it past everything or will this be their unhappy ending? Isabella Rae put a lot of heart and emotion into this book, giving you a look from Victoria, Sage, and Leland's perspective. It's very hard not to get emotionally involve while reading about these characters. I'm very interested to find out more in her next book involving Sage!
We meet Victoria and her best friend Sage in the prologue and really get a feel for how close these two women are. When Sage needs help she turns to Victoria, who is there with open arms.
One night while out with her closest friends, unbeknown to her she is spotted by Leland Ambrose. Instantly he is drawn to her and has to know who she is.
When Monday morning rolls around and Victoria is asked by her current boss to sit in on a meeting with the big boss she cannot figure out why Mr. Ambrose is starring a hole through her.
Leland can’t believe that the woman from the bar was sitting in on his board meeting. He had to meet her. This is an easy task for the him. After all his is the boss. A boss who is only in town for a few months to oversee his Atlanta office so of course he needs a new secretary.
Victoria just happens to be a secretary.
From here their relationship builds and has a few ups and downs. Until one day Victoria is filing some papers for Leland and runs across one that can tear them apart.
I enjoyed this book. It moved at a very brisk pace, there was never a time I thought “hurry up and get to the point,” the sex was hot, and I was never bored. I was flipping pages to see what Leland would do next to get what he wanted. I liked Victoria even though I felt she was somewhat irrational and I wanted to shake her and tell her to get over it. I really liked the secondary characters, Sage, Carter, Nick, and Connor. I would like to know more about them. The ending came a little fast for me. I would have liked a little more. But that’s what an author is supposed to do, leave you wanting more.
When I first saw the synopsis for this book, I expected one of those good-girl falls for CEO type of books. You know, the ones that are all the same, with different names and generally so-so writing. Man was I blown away!!! The synopsis does not do it justice!!!
First of all, the story in itself was very refreshing, unique and well-paced. Never a dull moment, the balance between details, descriptions, dialogue, tension, characters and funny conversations made for a book that I really enjoyed. Victoria, while sometimes getting on my nerves, is a pretty normal, independent, fun-loving professional with average situations in her life. Until she meets her boss, Leland. Leland doesn't have any major baggage, (which I found was great) and is a considerate, caring and pretty much a normal guy. Except he's rich. And really hot. Ok, so he oozes sexy.
Amazing sex scenes, funny dialogues, hilarious and loveable characters, this book should definitely be on your one-click list!!
4.5 stars..doing a re read! This was a wonderful debut from Isabella Rae. I felt a little disconnected at times, but really enjoyed Leland and Victorias story! It's not the typical forbidden office romance affair you think of when you hear 'workplace affair'! I feel like we could have gotten to know a little more of Leland's past, but hopefully we will get more of him in the next books to come!! Looking forward to the next installment of the Atlanta Affair series!
It's another blog stop review! I am loving this, and if you click on over to the news page there's a giveaway! Woop, woop! So junkies, this is Isabella's first tour, so let's make it one to remember eh minions. This is the first book I've read by Isabella and I couldn't put it down, I kept saying to myself okay after this chapter I'll take a break, and then three chapters later I'm still going. I really enjoyed this book, it certainly surprised me and Isabella's got herself a new fan. It's already got me excited for the next book, and one thing's for sure, Isabella Rae is an author you want to keep an eye out for.
What made me sign up for an ARC was the cover and synopsis, I mean a little naughty office time? How could I possibly say no? I liked Victoria's character, she was strong, independent, friendly and sweet. Her relationships with Sage, Nick and Carter said a lot about her personality and character, seriously at times I wanted to be her friend. The attraction between Leland and Victoria was instantaneous, you could feel the sexual tension building with every encounter, which honestly had me on the edge of my bed waiting for the BOOM! And Isabella did not disappoint, she built it up rather well and once she had your complete attention, she gave you what you wanted. Complications were minor, thank goodness because I can't stand it when everything just goes from bad to worse, instead Victoria's relationship with Leland was rather sweet and full of witty humor. I loved the dialogue and banter between them, it just felt so good and right. The amount of times I was smiling or saying 'awe' is countless minions. The main concern with their romance, is what happens when Leland leaves because it goes way beyond a casual office fling, and so I was in a constant state of anticipation bracing myself for it all to go wrong, and for immense heart ache to ensue.
Every woman in the office would die for this opportunity, and who better to show my worth to than the boss right? Plus, he is nice to look at.
"You scare me, Leland, I know it's stupid and irrational, but you're everything I want, but you seem just out of reach.
Okay so to say Leland was not your typical hero is a serious understatement, don't get me wrong when he wants something he goes all in. But it wasn't the whole broken or dark past hero thing, he was a businessman who saw something he liked, then he wanted and then he obtained. Something I admired about Leland was his honesty, you know with some heroes you have to guess what's going on in their head, even with their POV, well that never happened with him it was clear his feelings ran a lot deeper and he was man enough to admit it to himself. His character was totally loveable, charming and oh so swoon worthy. He's definitely a one of a kind character, I mean I've read a lot and have never come across the name Leland, I'll be honest it took me a while to warm up to it and now I can't imagine him with another name. His relationship with Victoria was full of angst, magnetism and raw sexual tension, I liked how they attempted to become friends trying to keep it all professional. But what the heart wants, wants.
Isabella's writing was very constant, everything unfolded scene by scene and she keeps you tapping your Kindle with zealous anticipation. Nothing goes the way you expect it too, and you find yourself getting lost amongst the characters, the romance and intense passion. There's none of that insta-love mumbo jumbo, she builds it all up gradually keeping you on tenterhooks, the on going debate of will he? Won't he? Will she? Won't she? etc. Isabella constantly has you guessing, and that my friends is the making of a good author.
"Best idea I've ever had, was you."
She fits here. That's all I can think as I watch Victoria standing in my half-full closet. I've watched her, walking through my apartment, trying to gauge her reactions to each room. I think the terrace was her favorite, but I can't be sure. Now, seeing her there among my clothes, I know she belongs here with me..
The only area this book fell short for me was drama, now sometimes too much drama can annoy me but sometimes a girl needs drama. I felt like everything went well for what seemed like most of the book with a few minor bumps along the way, which only meant it was building up to something big and to be honest it did. It just didn't deliver as well as it could have. If anything I felt like despite how it was made clear how Victoria misunderstood what was going on, she was acting too childish for my liking I mean she just refused to admit she was wrong and get over it. I felt bad for Leland, he unintentionally made a mistake which he apologizes for and fixes, but she still holds on to the grudge? Sorry girl but that don't fly. I also felt like there were times when Leland could have been more assertive, I mean he was good but he could have been better.
So my final rating? 3.5 sweet stars. I really did enjoy it, and am eagerly looking forward to the next book. I hope it's Sage and Connor, please Isabella let it be Connor and Sage. I'll love you forever! I know they were background characters, but I was way into their story. This book has fiery attraction, passionate romance, after office hours fun and adorable characters you just want to attack hug! I think the series has a lot of potential, and I'm sure Isabella has a lot of surprises and book goodness coming our way. If you're looking for short but sweet read with minimal drama and scorching love, then look no further and purchase your copy now.
Victoria is in her mid-20s, has a good job, some great friends, and is generally pretty satisfied with her life. She’s not a college graduate, and she doesn’t have a whole lot of experience, but she does her best and loves her job working for United Real Estate Investments, even if she has only been there for five months. When the big boss comes to town, she finds herself instantly promoted to his assistant for the length of his stay. Does she receive the promotion based on her own skills and merits, or simply because she is a pretty face? How will she get along with the billionaire Leland Ambrose?
Leland Ambrose is the quintessential billionaire. He’s a self-made man and is used to the finer things in life, and he’s used to others providing them for him. On his first night in Atlanta, Leland spies a young woman and her friends singing karaoke at the neighborhood dive bar. He’s instantly smitten; however he does nothing to act on his attraction. As luck would have it, it turns out that young woman is Victoria Bryant, his temporary assistant.
I loved how down to earth each of the characters comes across. Victoria has the self-doubt that many women experience not only in relationships, but also in their relationships with their own bodies. Leland, while the self-assured self-made man, can’t help but understand that money can’t buy anything, including someone's heart. The heat between Victoria and Leland, even from the very beginning, is hot, hot, hot!
A Workplace Affair is a four and a half star read. The only knock that I have on it is the brevity…I want more! Ms. Rae has given us a fun story that is a fast, easy, well written read that gives us a new twist on the nice guy billionaire. I loved Victoria’s relationships with her friends, Sage especially, and look forward to her story in the next installment of the series, A Sweet Affair.
I would like to Thanks Isabella Rae for giving me the opportunity to review "A workplace Affair (Atlanta Affair#1). It's a pleasure be able to review one of your books..

Betsy's Reviews..."One of my best reads 2013"
******Victoria Bryant had a hard childhood, but things started to change when she meets Sage McCarthy, they became BFF, Victoria one night decide to go for a Karaoke night with friends without knowing she will meet the man who will change her life forever & will bring a lot of happiness & tears. Victoria's independent & always wanting the best for her future & her carrier. While working with Mr.Marks she meets Leland Ambrose whituout knowing he is the one. There's a conection at the moment he put his eyes on her, he feels a connection that he never felt before. Victoria hasn't seen her BFF since Sage move to South Carolina but when Sage need it her best friend she comes back to Atlanta.. After 5 months working for United Real Estate Investments she become more sucessful that she thought.
At First I felt a little bit disconnected from the book, that I had to re read the 1st 2 chapters, to be able to catch up & understand it better, Since is writen in a different way than other books that I'm used to read, but after re read it the first chapters I was stuck & I wasn't be able to put it down. I fall in love with gorgeous, blue eyes, hard working man with his own company. Any girl will fall for him in a second. My favorite character was Sage always a good friend & stick together thick & thin that's what I BFF. It left wanting to know more about Leland Ambrose.. but hopefully we will get more of him & his past on "A Sweet Affair Book#2.
Firstly I want to say if I had a boss like Leland I would so go back to work. I loved that there were no bullshit pasts to work get over, crazy exes coming out the woodwork and try to screw things up for the couple.
Victoria is loving, looks after her friends, feisty, loyal which are all characteristics I love in a person. She and her best friend Sage from school who came back into her life after her marriage breakup are awesome, the way she helped Sage after the downfall breakup I can only hope I have a friend like Victoria, and not to mention Nick and Carter who I adored.
Now to Leland oh my goodness!!! I want a Leland doesn't have to be rich or any of that but just be the type of person who goes after what he wants. He isn't the usual over the top billionaire who is crazy alpha which isn't bad but its refreshing to read a main male character who is going to go bat shit crazy over stupid shit.
From there first face to face meeting you could feel the sexual tension between the two and you were just waiting for the fireworks, and boy did Miss Rae deliver. As I said above there was no crazy pasts or exes to contend with, just normal relationship complications coming from dating a very rich man, him buying you a whole new wardrobe and whatever else you happened to look at lol.
There was really only one part where I wanted to slap Victoria to wake her up even though I understood where she was coming from but not giving Leland the chance he needed to explain I was like damn woman just shut up listen think rationally and lets fix this cuz you two are supposed to be god damn it!!! I loved the ending I'm looking forward to reading Sage's story in book 2 hope to see more of Leland and Victoria.
What a fantastic read! Yes, it is one of the many millionaire/billionaire books on the market, but I absolutely loved the story here. Victoria is an independent woman, trying to work her way up in the realty company where she works as a secretary. The owner, Leland, comes down from New York to oversee the buying of some property, and spots the lovely Victoria in a bar one night prior to making his appearance in the office. One look and he is snared. He wants nothing more than to meet this woman, but she eludes him that night, so imagine his surprise when he finds her in his Monday morning meeting! The chase begins, and he uses his pull as owner to obtain her as his own secretary, anything to keep her as close as possible. He does his best to get to know everything he can about her, but there's one problem with starting a relationship with her ... he's leaving in a few months. Victoria is seriously attracted to her new boss, and she's finding it hard to hide. He's sweet, attentive, and seems to actually care about her feelings, but he's going back to New York soon. Now she has to decide, should she take what happiness she can--however short-lived it may be--or should she guard her fragile heart and cut out now? This story kept me riveted from beginning to end. The character development was great, even the secondary characters were given enough page time to make them stand out. If you like a good steamy romance, then be sure to give this story a look. AND IT'S ONLY .99 CENTS!!!!!
Personally, I'm hoping to see Teagan and Sage hook up soon! I think that Sage could definitely take Teagan down a peg or two.
A Workplace Affair (Atlanta Affair) by Isabella Rae
A HORSE OF A DIFFERNT COLOR INDEED!!
Leland & Victoria
Peculiar, yet satisfying! I'm not sure how often things like this happen, but holy hell did I really really want this one to happen! The story pulls you in different directions and tugs on your heartstrings, but will have you pleasantly sated from cover to cover. I so can't wait to dive into the next installment, A Sweet Affair!
I found myself cheering on Victoria very early in the book. She just felt to me like someone I'd hang out with, someone who'd have my back. Her powerful friendship and love for her friends drew me in and made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. When she stands up to that nasty Mary (from HR) I was practically jumping up and down doing my high fives!! Now Leland on the other hand... well, he was sort of presumptuous and demanding and I'll be the first to admit, I do like that in my alpha males, but hate it at the beginning! He slowly stole my heart and I don't want it back!
Great supporting characters in Sage, Connor, Carter, and even that atrocious Mary. Somehow bad-mannered people seem to make the story that must more exciting, wouldn't you agree? Sage is one of the best supporting female leads I've read in a long time and I'm so looking forward to the next book as it will be about her and Connor! Yeay!
The book is 182 (Kindle Version) pages long and I finished it in a little over a day. Great read! It got to the point, took me through the rough patches with ease, and kept me captivated to the very end.
An enjoyable debut novel from Isabella Rae. It was a nice change of pace to read a story that does not focus on the troubled pasts or dark secrets looming over the couple. The biggest obstacle this couple faces is their working relationship and geography.
Victoria Bryant is a beautiful, strong willed and hard working woman who is loyal to her best friends Sage and Nick. Victoria has been making the arrangements for the arrival of the owner of United Real Estate Investments but she hasn’t paid much attention to all of the chatter about Leland Ambrose.
Leland Ambrose is a rich, unattached and strikingly handsome executive. He is in Atlanta to conduct business, but when he sets his sights on a brunette singing karaoke he decides there may be some pleasure involved in this trip too.
The relationship between Victoria and Leland starts as a working relationship but quickly escalates to more. Who knew that a cry for “HELP” would result in a new wardrobe, toe curling kisses and steamy sex.
But every love story has to have a few bumps in the road. Victoria is painfully aware that she is falling for Leland but is also conscious of the fact that “this” is just short term as he will be returning to his life in New York. Add that fact that Sage’s dreams have been put in jeopardy by Leland and the tempers will flair and the tears will fall.
Will Leland and Victoria find their happy ever after or will it just be “A Workplace Affair”? Go grab your copy now and find out for yourself. Then get ready for Sage and Connor’s story, “A Sweet Affair” coming soon.
Isabella Rae! I WANT LELAND AMBROSE!!! HOLY Crap!!! He knew he wanted Victoria from the time he saw her signing karaoke at the bar with her friends Nick, and Sage. LelandaBthought Victoria was beautiful from the moment he saw her."THE WOMAN WHO JOINED THEM ON STAGE MADE HIS GLASS PAUSE ON THE WAY TO HIS MOUTH. SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL, HE CHEEKS WERE SLIGHTLY FLUSHED FROM ALCOHOL AND HER EYES SHONE BRIGHT IN CONTRAST TO HER DARK HAIR THAT FELL STRAIGHT AND LONG DOWN HER BACK." Victoria thinks she has some eye candy too! Read what she thought of Leland... " AT 9:59, LELAND AMBROSE WALKS THROUGHT THE DOOR, MY GOD HE IS BEAUTIFUL. BEAUTIFUL, AND I'M CERTAIN, ARROGANT, SHALLOW, AND VAIN. HE CATCHES MY EYE AND HIS CRYSTAL BLUE EYES APPEAR TO BE LOOKING RIGHT THROUGH ME. I SMILE POLITELY, HE HESITATES AND THEN SHAKES HIS HEAD AS IF CONFUSED." Does Leland change Victoria's mind? I must say when reading this I felt bad for Sage with her ding dong of a husband and his dick ways..UGH!! BUT Sage is a kick butt friend and I love her relationship with Victoria, it is so laid back, they can say anything and just laugh at each other. This book was H-O-T! Leland is Sexy, and Sweet/ Victoria I loved her but at 1 point in the book I wanted to hunt her down! I loved Leland and Victoria's interaction and couldn't get enough! Makes me want to enjoy shower sex, cupcakes, and karaoke more! Isabella Rae you have my heart, BTW I so can't wait to review Connor and Sage's story! Isabella Rae I love you! GO BUY IT NOW! I give Leland 5 stars! ~Chris :)
I just finished reading a Workplace Affair by Isabella Rae. This is the authors first book, and I really enjoyed it :) It all kicks off where we meet our main girl Victoria. Meeting a girl in school who will turn out to be a life long friend. Jump forward a decade or two,and we find Victoria working as a P.A. Working as hard as she can to show her ability's. One day her boss asks her to sit in on a meeting. Jumping at the chance to be more involved off she goes. Now enter the very sexy looking Leland. Now for Leland this isn't the first time he's seen our girl Victoria. Oh no he had the pleasure of seen her when she was on a night out with her friends Sage and Nick, belting out a spice girls song (and not very well either). To say he's shocked to see her is an understatement. He wanted her that night he seen her,bad voice and everything. But she vanished. So he left it to faith. If he was meant to see her again she would be brought back into his life. He wants her,and she can't deny that she wants him just as much. Even if her is her boss (kind of). Can I just say that if I had a boss like Leland I'd never mind going to work ;) But in a relationship is anything ever easy? But anything worth having is worth fighting for. And I for one can't wait for Isabella Rae's next book :)
This is one of those fun little reads that takes you away on a journey an makes you wonder if these things could ever happen to you.
Generally speaking, I have tried to steer clear of the millionaire books because they tend to be overdone and implausible. This one seemed to be well done and not over the top however.
I feel like the author perfectly captured the feelings of love at first sight and the physical reaction it causes.
Victoria is generally a strong character and is inseparable from her best friend Sage.
During the climax of the book, there are some issues revolving around Sage’s business and Leland’s company. It causes some strife between the three of them of course, but is handled wonderfully.
This is a light read that is fun and entertaining. It will take you away and help you forget about the stress of life. AND there are a couple of recipes at the end for some of Sage’s super awesome cupcakes..Because let me tell you. The author is so damn descriptive that I could damn well taste and smell everything about them while I was reading.
Oh, and that descriptiveness isn’t limited to cupcakes…the author is that descriptive throughout the whole book! I can’t wait for the next book!
This book was a really good read I've enjoyed it and now plan to move straight on to the next in the series ,,,
This is Victoria and Leland's story
Victoria is a secretary/assistant ,,,, Leland is the big boss man
Victoria is out with friends having fun ,,, unbeknown to her this is the night her life changes ,,,, Leland is there that night ,,, she catches his eye ,,, but he never got a chance to actually meet her ,,,, until he arrives at the office ,,,, the same beauty is his own employee
These two are instantly attracted to one another ,,, Leland doesn't waste any time at all when it comes to Victoria ,,, time isn't on their side Leland has to go back to New York ,,, after all that's where he lives
But Atlanta is becoming more and more appealing with each day that passes
Obviously life isn't simple and so we have something to stir up the mix a little ,,, but can they come out the other side and be stronger or will it tear them apart??
Leland isn't willing to give up without a fight ,,, he has met his girl and wants to keep her ,,, but how much fight can one man have before they give in???
Where to start... A very goodread that was easy to get sucked into & not want to put it down.. Victoria is a character that a lot of women can see themselves in. Hard worker, trying to make it to the top, all the while dealing with dirty old men & sexual harassment. Leland, on the other hand is the type of boss you wouldn't mind if he showed you a little 'extra attention'!!! The way their relationship evolves is very believable & could happen in real life, once again sucking a girl reader Into fandom, wishing we all had a Leland as a boss! There are twists & turns, which make you thankful that Victoria has a BestFriend to turn to ((just like we all would during the awful guy-troubling times!!)) the ending is story book & just the way I hoped it would be. No cliffhangers, but definitely left me wanting more from the group in Atlanta making everyone wonder if this is what happens when the lights go down in our big city ;o) Will for sure be reading the rest of this series & any others written by the awesome Isabella Rae!!
I really liked this story, Victoria is a beautiful hard working, loyal friend. She heads out on a well deserved Friday night with friends after preparing all week for the big bosses arrival on Monday. Leland is staying in town for a few months and decides to head out to a local pub for a drink. Victoria is singing all night long with friends and catches the eye of Leland, she never sees him. Monday comes and Victoria's boss asks her to sit in on the meeting to observe. She sees the very handsome man across the table and knows his reputation for being a playboy. She can feel him staring at her through out the meeting. Leland realizes the beautiful woman at the meeting is no other than the one that caught his eye Friday night. Let the chase begin! He needs to be near her even though he knows it isn't a good idea to get involved with an employee. Quick read and thank heavens no cliff hanger! I am looking forward to the book two which takes off on Sage (Victoria's best friend) and Conner. You may also find the review on Dirty Hoe's Book Blog on Facebook Michele
A Workplace Affair is Isabella Rae's debut novel and I have to applaud her. I enjoyed the book. There were a few instances that could have used a "bit" of tweaking, but overall I really enjoyed it. Victoria is a typical hardworking, hell bent on success female. Leland is a man who's worked his ass off to get where he is and wants to move his company into the next phase. Victoria goes to work for Leland and the chemistry is off the charts. They become involved and things happen. Are they destined to be together or destined to ruin each other? My only issues were too many of the same scenes were repeated by both characters and there wasn't enough to really "break them" apart from each other. And there were a few editing issues, but nothing major at all. This was a terrific debut and I was completely captivated. It was a very quick read and I look forward to more from the author! Man I wish I could give half stars, because this is 4.5 in my book.
This was a short read but it worked for me because it covered all its bases. I didn't feel like I needed more and most importantly, it had a HEA.Leland Ambrose is hot, young, sexy and has his own business. Victoria has worked very hard to get where she's at and when he see's her for the first time he needs to have her so she ends up working for him. Unbeknownst to her he had seen her already at a bar but she never did see him, so it was a surprise to him when he see's she works for his company (he's worked from a different state so he's never seen her). They end up having an affair and falling in love.. Their chemistry is off the charts... When the secrets and lies start to unravel, this book will keep you on your toes.... I'm looking forward to book 2 which I think is about her best friend Sage....
This was so much better than I first thought In all honesty I didn't think I would like it but I was wrong, I did!
Victoria ~ She was so down to earth and just normal! Does that make sense? She gets pissed at Leland every time he tries to buy things for her. Oh when she went off on him about the packet at work, that was too funny! Now as to why she broke it off with him, I didn't really get it! I mean he didn't do anything wrong, but yet she goes all off on him and breaks it off with him!
Leland ~ I loved him, he didn't seem like the normal big shots that you read about! Instead of trying to change Victoria into the image he wants he in courage's her to be HER! He was just more down to earth then a lot of other big shot guys are!
Victoria Bryant works as an assistant to Mr. Marks at United Real Estate Investment. She worked hard to be where she is.
Leland Ambrose is drop dead gorgeous, successful man who has his own business.

I've made my feelings pretty clear in my progress updates, so this will be brief. This is the first time an author has managed to make me hate her heroine. Victoria's behavior for a 20-something young professional is totally immature and ridiculous. By the time she has her epiphany, I am way past caring and want it to be over.
I couldn't connect with the relationship between Victoria and Leland because I was too busy rolling my eyes. The author needs to spend less time on descriptions of things and surroundings and spend more time on developing her characters so that we actually care what happens to them.
I liked Sage very much. She took her circumstances in stride and I look forward to reading her story and finding out if the author's writing has matured.
This was a short, easy read about a young woman who fell in lust, then love with her boss. I liked how the book gave us both perspectives (most of the book was told through Victoria’s perspective, we did get “inside” Leland’s head also! Even though the book is short, I was amazed at how much detail the author was able to pack into those pages (we get some of their backgrounds, friends, what they are thinking, etc). When their conflict came, I thought that Victoria overreacted but then that gave her best friend, Sage, a chance to shine (and she will be in the next book). Leland was an alpha male, but not in an obnoxious way and Victoria was a strong leading lady. All in all, an enjoyable read and I am looking forward to Sage’s story.
This is Isabella Rae's debut novel and it's fantastic!! Not many debut's grab and keep my attention but this one flowed smoothly, was well written and keeps you interested.
Victoria is strong, hard working and a loyal friend. She's pulled from her regular secretarial position to work with the big boss.
He pulled her because shes capable and he's attracted to her, but she doesn't know he saw her the previous Friday singing karaoke and was drawn to her.
I don't do spoilers so I'll give you very little info, she's drawn to him as well, they hook up, a relationship begins. He spoils her.But he's from New York and only in town for a few months, so where can this relationship go?
There are ups and downs, heartbreak and romance. It's a great story, worthy of it's 5* rating.
When Leland Ambrose arrives to work out of his flagship office, he never expects to find himself falling head over heels for his employee Victoria Bryant. Victoria knows she shouldn't, but Leland is impossible to resist. One simple evening turns into a complicated affair between them and when Victoria realizes Leland has a hand in something that could destroy her best friend, she doesn't know if she can ever forgive him.
The chemistry between Leland and Victoria is sizzling from the first introduction. Like a voyeur, Leland first sees Victoria performing karaoke before he realizes who she is. Delightful fun, I look forward to reading more from Isabella Rae in the future.
Victoria Bryant is a young girl working her way up the corporate ladder. She has a quiet life-style but enjoys her friends and their once-in-a-while karoake night at a local hangout. When her boss, Leland Ambrose, wanders in one Friday night and sees her performing, something clicks in his heart that he's never felt before. Finding out she works for his company makes the challenge of capturing her heart even more inviting.
This is a fast paced, upbeat story of what chance can bring to your life and offers the question of should you take that leap and give love a chance. Watching Leland trying to capture Victoria's heart is very precious and sexy as hell at the same time. Great read!
