Veterinary Secrets: Natural Health for Dogs and Cats

Rate this book
Steeped in the pastoral setting of a farm in rural British Columbia and the idyllic stories of James Herriot during his youth, Dr. Andrew Jones, DVM, decided to make the care for animals' well-being his life's mission.

But the reality of modern veterinary medicine did not turn out to be as earnest as he'd hoped.

In "Veterinary Secrets ," Dr. Jones opens by explaining how he came to question conventional veterinary treatments then began to share his concerns publicly and openly educate pet owners, empowering them to provide their pets with quality, holistic care at home. Eventually, his efforts led to his expulsion from the British Columbia Veterinary College, resulting in a ban from practicing animal medicine.

Dr. Jones believes in our pets' optimal well-being, and the rest of this book draws from his seventeen years' experience in veterinary medicine to provide a comprehensive, step-by-step guide to home pet care and disease remedies.

With over twenty thousand copies of the e-book sold, it's clear that Dr. Jones is still making a positive impact in the world of veterinary medicine-and in the lives of pets and pet owners around the world.

Had some pretty good ideas, but I think regular pet massages are a bit much. Kind of too much grandstanding also.

I came across this book while I was browsing on Amazon, "Veterinary Secrets: How Conventional Veterinary Medicine May Be Harming Your Pets, and What You Can Do About It by Veterinary,Andrew T. Jones. Having two 7 year old Labs, I was quite interested and intrigued with the book. I have to say that one of our Labs is suffering from the beginning stages of Arthritis. I have to say I take both of our dogs for their yearly checkup, shots and revolution (for heartworm)to the vet. My two dogs are like my babies...I would do anything for them, based on the unconditional love they give all the time.

I read this book and found it provided practical home care and remedies for optimizing your pets' health. It addresses problems faced by both dogs and cats.

I must say that I will continue to take my Labs to the vet, but this book provides additional detail and holistic solutions for your pets' care. I must say I learned a lot, and will keep this book close, as reference material.

Veterinary Secrets by a former practicing veterinarian is a great source to teach you about using natural remedies to heal your dogs and cats.

Jones questioned conventional treatments of pets after 17 years of practice and publicly expressed his concerns. He explained how to care for pets holistically at home. He lost his medical license in Canada for expressing his views. He does state that your pets need to be tested at vets and need to go there when necessary. He is a naturopathic healer that puts the pet’s health first. He claims that pets are over vaccinated for the profits of vets and big pharma.

I have been using natural remedies for my dogs as much as possible. When my oldest dog had a cruciate ligament tear at 13 years of age, I researched my options as I did not want surgery, the most common option. The conventional vet, said for her to rest and not use it. Her leg muscles started to atrophy and deteriorate. With continued searching, I found a vet that used acupuncture, laser therapy, and Chinese medicine and after several months she was healed and taking long walks with me. I was thrilled with the results. This is the kind of insight and treatments Dr Jones prescribes. He also stresses proper diets, grain free, raw and homemade. Dogs get many of the same diseases humans get. The commercial diets with a lot of grain also causes a lot of skin allergies.

This is a must read for animal lovers who want their pets to live long quality lives. It is a great resource that you can use repeatedly.

I have been following Dr. Jones for about 5 yrs. now and find him to be brilliant! If you're like me, you feel "taken for a ride", every time you go to a Vet! I love my pets and do everything I can for them but I hate it when I realize I've been "taken". One example: my 14lbs chihuahua was on a drug for 2 years that I was paying $50. a month for, for a heart condition. I switched Vets and found out the "heart meds" were a simple dewormer which was doing nothing for my dog's heart? That's just 1 incident and I have many more!
Whenever I have a problem with one of my pets now I check out youtube to see what Dr. Jones would do. I have been able to solve many problems on my own now thanks to him!
I can't wait to read his book!

He is no longer a veterinarian, so using the title "Dr." in his videos and blogs is a good sign he is a con artist. Be careful. He may be harming your pet in the long run.
