Sometimes, a second chance means risking everything...

EDEN

I thought the days of protecting my heart with mindless flings were over. Zach promised me a future I never dared to hope for—a soulmate, a family who truly wants me.

But after I moved in, Zach checked out. He’s distant, always at the office, and has never whispered the “I love you” I desperately need to hear. He treats me like an afterthought. I’m nothing but the last tick box on his five-year plan.

But I didn’t become Sydney’s hottest hairstylist by settling for second best. Six months later, no ring, and Zach’s former hookup causing drama? I’m done.

ZACH

I’ve sacrificed everything to be more than the nerd from the wrong side of the tracks. Surviving ten years in the city’s most cutthroat law firm didn’t just make me a good lawyer; I’m the best. Love? That has never been a priority with partnership on the line…until Eden.

I know I’ve neglected our relationship. I convinced myself Eden would wait. But when I return home to an empty apartment, reality finally hits me—I’ve lost the woman more precious than any promotion.

Half-hearted apologies and flowers won’t be enough to prove I deserve a second chance. Winning Eden back means risking everything I’ve ever worked for.

Words We Didn’t Say is an emotional second-chance romance and is the first book in the standalone What Went Wrong series. For readers who love angst, relationships in trouble, and a sweet Australian hero who fights for an accomplished heroine whose forgiveness isn’t easily won.

This book includes mature themes and is intended for adults only. Detailed content guidance is available on the author’s website.

I read this when it was on WATTPAD it’s now on KU… yay
I enjoyed this although I did feel bad for the Zach at times and thought he was getting made out to be bad when he was a cinnamon roll.

‼️Flawed h and H
‼️Relationship in trouble
‼️Perceived Cheating
‼️Grovel - mild
‼️He fights for her
‼️OWD /OMD
‼️Lack of Communication

So Eden and Zach have been together for 6mo they both are totally in love with the other but they are both very flawed characters and are not communicating.

Zach is a workaholic
Eden is insecure and needs reassurance

They both have some issues from their childhoods. Her more so than him. Hes a workaholic though bc they were poor and he never wanted to struggle and he wants to take care of her so much. Hers are more severe, neglect.

♥️They each struggle but in The end they learn and grow and over come.

‼️I did want Zach to man up.a bit faster and Eden to stop holding onto crap that could easily be fixed.

‼️Zach was truly a great guy and. Such a cinnamon roll. He deserved the best. Eden was a great woman they both just needed to matured and grow and prioritize.

‼️Safety

OWD- Perceived cheating- he was sleeping with a coworker one he has no real connection with. (He hates her now) The OW was hitting on him on late night at work trying to get him back. She was touching him and talking about their hookups. It looked bad from an outsider. The H was shocked and definitely wasn’t interested but it sounded bad.
But the h was there to surprise him and saw it. But left before he pushed OW away.
She leaves, devastated and moved out of their apartment. This was the saddest scene when the H came home. My boy was such a great guy just in over his head.

OMD- h goes on a few dates
OWD- the ex wants him back but he absolutely doesn’t want her. But he does have to talk to her cause of work

‼️Mentions of suicide.

Neither were V 🥳
Both celibate during separation🥳♥️

Am I the only one who felt like this book made no sense at times?

Eden and Zach met at a coffee shop and it was basically love at first sight for them both. Within 6 months, they are living together. And by the start of the story, they've been together for 9 months and have never said I love you.

They both have trauma, Eden being her daddy issues - he was abusive and she left when she was young and had a pretty rough upbringing. Zach's was a suicide attempt after his mum's cancer diagnosis, on top of all the pressure he receives at work. They both don't communicate this in the 9 months they've been together, it comes out after they try reconciling, which is so weird?!

So, the main issue is OWD, naturally. Zach has a fuck buddy at work who he slept with 4 times post sabbatical, coming back to work after the attempt. He calls it off as soon as he sees Eden for the first time. He also tells Eden that he's really selective about who he sleeps with cause he isn't a dtf kinda guy, he's more of a committed man. I don't get it but I guess trauma was the reason he wanted to sleep with OW? 😒 Anyway, Eden sees them together at work when she goes to surprise him, he's so distracted by his workload that he apparently allowed OW to "take his mind off work" and starts massaging him. She's been inviting him for drinks and stuff after work but the guy is so awkward and shy that he bumbles around instead of just saying no. He doesn't meet her for drinks or anything but his lack of definitism is gross. Eden moves out, he's distraught and wants to win her back. She agrees.

Just a reminder though, this man has neglected her whilst living together. He works all the time and barely makes time for her, constantly ditches date nights and her organised events, forgets she's allergic to roses and sends her a bunch as an apology, has never told anyone at work that he has a girlfriend because "his personal life is personal" and is piss poor at communicating. They've never even talked about if they want babies and marriage, and he only realises that she does after they've broken up?! I think people tend to forget that neglect is also a form of abuse and that's why I don't enjoy these types of romances. Why do you only change when you realise you've lost her?

Anyway, the grovelling starts and it's all cute gifts and new dates and he's going to work less and less. She has trauma, don't get me wrong. I loved that Eden had a sex life and isn't a smitten virgin. But she uses sex almost as a weapon to stop talking about hard subjects, which honestly, I don't love. I think both of them need therapy for the long run. I didn't love how we didn't talk about Zach's suicide attempt, it seems like a big topic for him and he chokes up every time it's brought up and she just says it's okay let's talk about something else. No?! This is a huge thing. This should have been discussed?? Also, I wanted to see what Zach would be like with his new work, after he quits his toxic workplace. Does he fall back into neglecting Eden? Does he try harder? I wanted to SEE the resolve but instead I get an epilogue 3 years later and everything is just dandy.

Overall, I was pretty underwhelmed by the plot. And just an fyi, his nickname for her? Denny Dee 💀

I started this story, and immediately realized I had read it before. I looked the author up on Wattpad and sure enough I had read this one over there. It was called More than Sorry on Wattpad. I enjoyed this story enough to re-read this one again. I'm pretty sure parts of this story have been updated since I read the original. It's still a great story, but I think I enjoyed the original even more. This was a sweet romance, with a smidgen of "Perceived Cheating" in it. Poor Zach. My heart ached for him. Eden put him through the wringer, and made him work his ass off to get her back. I loved both Eden and Zach, Zach's awesome parents, and Eden's loyal friends. Total recommend!

DNF@25% - hero is way too vulnerable for me to enjoy his scrambling and groveling - this is only fun if he’s an arrogant asshat …. Everyone is in the wrong here, which also isn’t fun. I can’t even hate read properly. And if I’m not having fun, I’m gonna peace out 🤷🏼‍♀️✌🏻

The fmc gave me valley girl vibes— I know this is an Aussie book. She’s a famous hairdresser. The mmc is a lawyer trying to make partner. He’s thin and nerdy. He was way too bet for my liking. He works all the time. He forgets —or is very late to the h’s Hollywood level birthday party. Dude you’ve only been with her 6 months this portends a bad news for the future. He’s clueless and she’s shallow I skimmed to the epilogue. Something about the characters was just too shallow. I didn’t like either one of them. The ow drama wasn’t real so no angst there. Too Many pages devoted to the h’s friends talking to her. It just seemed too much like a beauty shop gossip.

I enjoyed this on Wattpad and just as much second time around. It feels real. No OTT grovel that reduces the masculinity of the MC and a relationship rebuilding on friendship and getting to know each other rather than focusing on sex.
Looking forward to more from Aubrey

Goodness, no. There are nerdy heroes and then there’s this hero.
My idea of the Romance genre nerds is that they’re adorable and endearing and passionate about their interests. INTELLIGENT, even if naive.

This man reads like a 12 year old playing dress up.
CHILDLIKE in his mannerisms, his thought process.
Damn creepy when paired with this heroine, his complete and total opposite.
It’s like she’s in a relationship with a pre-teen.
I’m grossed out.

Added to that, he’s just downright self-serving.
Evasive and underhand.

Ugh
Why are you even reviewing this, Beeg, go find yourself a decent book to read 🙄

Genre: contemporary romance
Trope: found family, second chance

I really enjoyed this read. This is a new to me author and came up in one of my recommendations. I’m glad I took a chance on this one. It was a bit angsty which I love, but more so was that it was realistic and super sweet. I’m not one for the miscommunication trope and what I loved was that it wasn’t so much miscommunication but assumptions, baggage and truly things not said. I loved Eden and Zach, period full stop. I would love to read about Yvette and Angie and even Lori (hoping she gets a do-over). Zach’s mom is so awesome, seriously, chefs kiss.

Very cute story

This is about a couple. A free spirit and a suit but it was perfect. Their banter, their love their connection. Yes there were the usual communication problems but it all worked out in the end. And that epilogue broke my heart. In a good way. So sweet. His boss and the wannabe ow couldn't even ruin it for me. He had dated her or slept with her really four times but he hated it. Then one day he,saw the heroine and he broke it off and concentrated only on her. He was such a normal guy. But he loved her so.much. safe read and so.totally worth the read. Swoonworthy!

I really enjoyed this author's writing style, she definitely knows how to connect with her readers. Both MC's were quirky in their own way, and while I liked the h (she had trust issues), the H stole my attention. I, too, am socially awkward and often at a loss during 'social' conversations while being a top performer at his law firm. It was interesting that he felt so insecure while coming from a loving home and awesome parents. The h was raised with an abusive father who eventually ran away from home and built her own success.

They did earn their HEA and the emotional and trust growth they both experienced made the story.

why does everyone i follow like this book?

I couldn’t care less for both Eden or Zach. They both struggled with personal stuff but it always just served as an excuse for their behaviors. They did so and so bad thing but both of them are apparently the best because whatever they did was due to their past. I just hated them as main characters.

This book also has a lot of OWD which I didn’t understand because the OW didn’t know that the MMC was in a relationship till like the end of the book and she backs off once she know about them, so is it really the other woman’s drama or the main character’s drama.?

they kept vilianizing her but it only humanized her more for me, i really felt for her and a story of her would have been much much better, such an interesting character with complex values. i loved her. i think the author has really messed up when she makes me love the other woman over the annoying main characters.

It’s a good book and a relationship in trouble book. I had a hard time connecting with the characters though and for some reason, I seemed to enjoy it more on Wattpad then I did with the edited version.

Eden (FMC) and Zach (MMC). Eden is a hair stylist but not just any hairdresser, she owns one of the most premier salons in her city, luxurious to the max. She grew up with an abusive father and is desperate to be loved but terrified of relationships. Zach is a overworked lawyer who always feels he has to prove himself because he grew up incredibly poor and a street kid. Zach is VERY socially awkward.

These two have a meet cute then have been in a relationship for what appears to only be 6 months. Eden and Zach now live together but she refuses to unpack. She loves Zach but Zach frequently misses important dates because of work. I’m talking 80+ hours a week kind of guy. He also mentions “Mac” in his office quite frequently.

We see the cracks in their relationship on her 32nd birthday when everyone including her two best friends Yvonne & Andie expect him not to show up even though he promised. And he doesn’t, until well into the party like hours late type of thing. He gifts her with a 3-tier homemade cake by his mother and diamond Tiffany earrings. She’s mad and annoyed because she thought he’d FINALLY propose.

This is annoying for several reasons. 1. They haven’t been together that long. 2 She hasn’t unpacked so doesn’t really live with him yet. 3. She hasn’t met his parents and keeps putting them off for reasons. 4. They both haven’t even said I love you. 5. He barely knows anything abut her job, thinks she’s just a poor hairdresser.

It all comes to a head one night when she goes to surprise him with dinner. She spies on him in his office with a hot and very aggressive lawyer Michaela (OW) offering to help him “relax” with ton of sexual innuendo. Eden assumes he’s cheating on her so runs, calls her bestie, packs her unpacked stuff back up and leaves him. When Zach tracks her down and confronts her, he tells her he’s NOT cheating, kicked Michaela out of his office but he has had a past sexual relationship with her than he never told Eden about. (She’s Mac btw!) Eden kicks him out and he doesn’t contact her all weekend.

Monday morning, she comes into work and is inundated with messages (she blocked him after no contact), roses and a card that only says “I miss your smile”. Eden is allergic to roses.

Zach realizes his mistake and tries in many, many little ways to show Eden he’s sorry. He builds her a care basket, he shows up at her coffee place, he goes to her salon when she’s not there and works the entire day for free doing whatever they tell him to with her two besties being cruel to him just to learn about her job so he will understand it better. She blocks him but he still sends her good morning and good night messages every day.

Zach doesn’t give up, he’s honestly not a bad guy. He learns and he tries again. What’s even sadder is despite being a lawyer, Zach has really low self-esteem. He lets everyone just walk all over him, at work and in his personal life. It’s even said that Zach is a highly intelligent, quiet nerd who goes through life silently always fearing to make a mistake. He’s kind of Beta. I liked him more than I did Eden.

I didn’t really like Eden because she’s downright cruel. She didn’t unpack. She didn’t say I love you. She didn’t tell him how she felt. She didn’t have conversations with him. And she plays immature games with Zach’s head and his heart. She doesn’t open up about her past but she’s mad Zach has a hard time communicating when she doesn’t herself. She’s one of those do as I say but not as I do characters.

At one point in the book, Eden asks her friend Yvonne to set her up with a date (Sam) to attend a event she knew Zach would be at. She flirts in front of him, insults him, his looks, his job and even says I can’t believe I chose someone as pathetic as you until he WHIMPERS at her cruelty. She then justifies it by saying it’s his fault because no one at his work knows about her.

Again, they’ve only been dating SIX months and he’s explained to her many, many times about how much of an asshole his boss is about “personal” stuff affecting work. He doesn’t talk about ANYTHING personal at work. Eden then tells her friends that Mac (OW) was there at the party and they freak out and attack Zach. Again, sounding like a repeat but it was a corporate work party. Michaela was at the work party because she’s a freaking employee. I feel like the author just used this as more drama fuel but unnecessarily.

Eden gets drunk the same night, cries and calls Zach while wasted and throwing up in a bathroom. Zach immediately goes to rescue her and she makes him get on his knees and beg her in a dirty bathroom. She agrees that she’ll leave him unblocked but only if he only sends her cat memes and goodnight messages.

Zach even puts up two photos at work, one of his parents and one of Eden so people know she’s his life. His boss is so terrible, he threatens Zach’s job because of it.

Zach also tells Michaela (Mac) all about Eden. Not because it matters but because it matters to Eden. They both reminisce on how bad their jobs are and Michalea admits she was sleeping with the asshole senior partner the entire time she was with Zach because he (the boss) doesn’t promote women. It’s a VERY toxic work environment. We also reiterate that Zach & Michaela were only together briefly, they had sex four times, almost a year ago before he was with Eden.

Eden keeps dating Sam (OM) even though she doesn’t like him or want to have sex with him. It’s literally only to make Zach jealous even though she isn’t sure she wants him either but she doesn’t want him to give up. I swear at this point they’ve been broken up weeks and she’s just seeing what hoops she can make him jump through. Zach finally calls her out on it and she agrees to stop.

Zach also finds out Eden never told him she volunteers at youth centers and compliments her on it. She gets mad and says it’s personal. She LIVED WITH THIS GUY AND WANTED HIM TO PROPOSE TO HER. WTF? She finally admits her past and that her father beat her and abused her. She ran away before she was even legal. She also admits she never unpacked and slept with all the lights on in case Zach was like her father. (Again, da faq?). Zach admits he has trouble at work because his boss, who he thinks of like a big brother and a career mentor, is also turning out to be a terrible person (cheats on his fiancée with lots of others). They agree to “re-date”.

One night Zach cooks Eden’s favorite meal and homemade sourdough bread. His phone keeps going off and Eden gets super jealous. Finally, she see it’s HIS MOM. Zach also admits to going to a therapist after his mom was diagnosed with cancer. They start making out after comforting each other and Eden stops again and throws Michaela in his face. Again. This bitch is freaking psycho. Keeps saying Zach chose Mac over her…. Because he was working?! Zach reiterates again, for the millionth time that Michaela was never his girlfriend, they aren’t even friends but know each other from university and work obviously. She’s rich. He was poor. She makes fun of him and he doesn’t like it. One night when he was depressed about his mom and his work was threatened, he slept with Michaela. They slept together 4x over the course of a few months. That’s literally IT. Zach and Eden decide to take things slow (no sex) until they’re sure about each other again.

Blah blah blah, they go on more dates. Blah blah blah Zach’s boss is a terrible person. Blah blah finally Eden can’t handle no sex and tells Zach they need to talk in which he shows up in a panic with flowers, chocolate, wine, candy all to apologize so she won’t dump him again but instead Eden admits she wants intimacy. Zach is still working 80+ hours at his job AND now working Saturdays at Eden’s salon. Eden meets his parents; it goes well of course they adore her. Zach tells Eden he loves her and why he’s desperate to make partner (so he can finally feel worthwhile). Michaela blows up at work and tries to embarrass Zach and he does it right back finally standing up for himself. Eden and Zach attend more work parties. Eden catches Zach’s boss Chris beating/slapping his fiancé Lola and tries to help her but Lola won’t accept it. Chris then sexually harasses Eden and threatens her. Eden chooses not to tell Zach because of his job. Zach figures it out when he sees bruises and Eden crying and pretending to be sick.

Zach leaves, goes to the office, quits then beats the absolute shit out of Chris. Eden finds Zach hiding in his closet at home ashamed because he lost his temper. Eden finally admits she loves him and tells him he’s not a failure.

2 months later, they’re at his parents BBQ. Zach is still in therapy. He proposes to Eden.

3 years later they have a daughter. Eden won Hairstylist of the Year. Zach started his own firm. The two best friends are dating each other.

Words We Didn't Say, Book 1 of the What Went Wrong mini series, was about 32-year-old Eden "Denny Dee" Phillips, a popular hairstylist and owner of her own salons, and 34-plus-year-old Zachary "Zach" Rawles, an attorney (hoping to make partner soon) at the Worley and Stone Law Firm, albeit a socially awkward and slightly backward kind of guy.

Trigger Warnings from the author:

On-page incidents

Sexual harassment, intimidation and assault (grabbing/pushing) of main female character (perpetrated by side character), Instances of 'slut-shaming' about former sexual partners (perpetrated by side characters), Workplace bullying and intimidation (perpetrated by side characters), Other woman drama, Perceived cheating-main female character witnesses/overhears situation with other woman, Violence, including one serious incident of physical assault, Explicit and consensual sexual scenes, including without the use of protection, Side character experiencing intimate partner abuse, including one on-page scene of overheard violence, Workaholism, Alcohol consumption, and Strong language/cursing.

Mentions/events occurring primarily off-page

The main female character has experienced childhood physical violence and abuse (non-sexual). The main male character has had past depression and a previous suicide attempt (brief, non-graphic references). Parent in remission from breast cancer. Death of a parent during childhood. Previous workplace relationship. The side character's parents were not accepting of homosexuality. The main characters are from impoverished backgrounds.

Eden and Zach "officially" met for the first time when she was doing a fundraiser run. They had seen each other multiple times before that at a coffee shop. Six months later, they were living together, but things weren't going well. Zach was no longer attentive, often forgot to show up for dates, parties, etc., and worst of all, he was extremely late for her 32nd birthday party. They hadn't exchanged "I love yous", and she had never met his parents, even though they had invited them to their home repeatedly. When she thought his gift was an engagement ring, she was disappointed to find out it wasn't. When he stayed at work late again, Eden wanted to know if it was a "wait-up night". He'd responded in the affirmative, but when his ex, a co-worker, invited him to go to a bar for a drink instead of going home, he almost accepted her invitation.

On the 34th day of them living together, Zach arrived home to find Eden gone. At first, he thought she had finally unpacked and settled into "coupledom", but he quickly learned she had moved out instead. When he found her at her BFF's place, she confronted him with having seen him with his co-worker, Michaela "Mac" MacIntosh. Although he told her nothing happened, the truth of his prior intimate relationship with the other woman came out, and Eden told him they were done as a couple.

After six months together, Zach still had no clue who Eden was... or how much money she truly had. He thought she had wastefully spent money renting an expensive dress for her birthday party, and he was working long hours because he didn't think she needed to worry about mortgages, bills, or any other financial concerns. He believed she barely made minimum wage. (This guy was totally clueless.) However, several weeks after she moved out, he finally dug his head out of the sand long enough to visit her flagship shop, under the guise of learning more about her and where she worked.

This book was surprisingly good. It was full of angst, drama, a touch of secrecy, and an emotional rollercoaster that was full of twists and turns. Both of the main characters were blue-collar workers who had each clawed their way from nothing to something. It was nice to read a book where the main theme was something other than the typical "he's rich/she's poor" scenario.

Both main characters were fully developed, fleshed out, and mature. They both had experienced some type of trauma in their past that caused them to struggle in their relationship, but the growth they each went through was very believable. They both had support from secondary characters that made the story more enjoyable.

I gave this book a three-star rating only because of the length and the times when it seemed to drag instead of getting straight to the point. Other than that, it was a good story. It even opened the doorway with just enough of a crack to catch a smidgeon of a glimpse into the next book.

Another in my super-angsty book marathon involving neglected FMCs. In this case, Zach neglects Eden for work rather than OW, but there was a while there when Eden thought otherwise (with visual evidence). Their issues are exacerbated by their mutual inability to communicate (more on Eden's side than Zach's, but he has loads of that too), and their various emotional baggage.

But in the end, I liked both the characters. They came off as flawed, but real. Zach was a bit more of a beta male, but turned out to be more like an alpha in beta's clothing (ignoring the scientific inaccuracies since discovered of alpha/beta/gamma/omega/etc -- you catch my meaning), but he stood toe to toe with Eden when it counted. But he was a total sweetie and I totally got why Eden had fallen for him. Eden was pricklier, and as with the other book by the same author that I tried, Push, the FMC was the more outwardly dominant of the two. He's an introvert, and parties are basically his idea of Hell, while she's an extrovert, even a small time social media influencer, though her actual career is owning her own very high end hair salon (full time influencers give me the ick, so I was glad she had a "day job"). He's trying to make up for a past "mistake" (that wasn't actually a mistake) and make partner at his extremely high energy law firm, and as a result, has a tendency to let work get in the way, even to the point he has no idea what she actually does for a living. Both Zach and Eden love each other pretty much from the beginning of the book, but neither of them has said anything to the other about it, and he keeps working, and she has yet to unpack her boxes from their shared apartment.

In other words, both have issues.

I enjoyed the book, although it did get a bit draggy in the middle during their separation (which is usually my inner angst-whore's favorite part of the book). I really liked the low level changes made to their personalities over the course of the book, and despite Zach's neglect being the primary reason they blew up, I ended up being more impatient with Eden and her lack of communication skills than with him (although not in a way that made me dislike her) and the extremely Low Blow she lands on Zach while he's trying to get her back. The book really shined when they started working on their relationship, letting us see the changes each were making, and the ways they tried and occasionally failed to break out of old habits.

I probably won't pick this one up again, but I wasn't sorry I read it.

I couldn’t help but get swept up in Eden and Zack’s ups and downs—from the first spark in that coffee shop to the gut‑wrenching moment Eden walks away. Eden carries the scars of a childhood no one should endure. Even after years of therapy and building a successful life for herself, trusting another person remains a monumental challenge. Zack, meanwhile, has his eyes set on making partner at his prestigious law firm. Work consumes him to the point that he almost forgets to notice the woman who’s captured his attention.

Their connection is instant but fragile. It’s lucky fate that throws them together again—after Zack spots Eden across the café, they soon find themselves face to face, brimming with mutual intrigue. Yet despite the undeniable chemistry, they both struggle to voice their feelings. Zack buries himself in case files and late nights at the office, while Eden wrestles with her instincts whenever something feels off. When she decides to surprise him with dinner at work, what she discovers instead shatters her trust and sends her running for the door.

Watching Zack’s transformation from workaholic perfectionist into someone willing to bare his insecurities is both frustrating and heartwarming. He stumbles through apologies, leans on friends (and those hilariously overzealous parents), and confronts the mistakes that drove Eden away. Eden’s journey back to Zack isn’t easy. She refuses to be the kind of woman who settles for half‑measures, and rightly so. When she finally allows herself to believe Zack’s fight to win her back might be genuine, you can feel every bit of relief and hope she’s held onto.

There are moments when Zack’s cluelessness nearly derails everything—his inability to fully grasp how his silence hurt Eden made me want to shake some sense into him. Still, these challenges make their eventual reconciliation all the more satisfying.

By the final pages, Eden and Zack have grown in ways neither could have predicted. Eden learns that opening her heart again doesn’t mean losing herself, and Zack discovers that true success isn’t measured in billable hours but in the courage to fight for love. Their story is messy, real, and ultimately hopeful—a reminder that even the most broken people can find their way back to each other. If you love second‑chance romances that balance emotional depth with a dash of humor and just enough steam, this one will leave you smiling through tears.

“Even when you hate me, you’re still the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known. Sweet dreams, Denny Dee.”

“The woman I see is confident and caring and maybe, yeah, sometimes a little schemer who keeps me on my toes, but Eden… I’ve seen hints that you were holding something back from the start. It never made me want to walk away. I only ever wanted to bring you in even closer. I’m not always good at doing that, though. I’ve got a lot to learn about relationships.”

PD: Mención de honor para uno de los más increíbles personajes, la mamá de Zach, la amo mucho señora ocurrente y graciosa 🥰

First read this when it was on Wattpad, but the story has changed and has been improved.

Grovel = H ignores and forgets about the h and special event often. H considers his career as the utmost importance and that the h's career is meaningless and actually has no clue what the h does or has for a career. Once the h has had enough and leaves the H, he snaps to pretty quick and works really hard to win back the h. H changes who he is and changes his priorities, really his whole life, to become what the h needs.

h sees H with OW = h sees the H's ex-hook up approach the H and proposition him, she runs off before she can see the H turn down and push off the OW (H was really distracted with work and not paying attention, OW took advantage of that). H did not cheat, but he did not tell the h about this past hook up and it colored all of his past interactions with the ex-hook up for the h as well as future encounters.

OW drama = ex-hook up caused issues for the H at work, constantly tried to be with the H despite numerous rejections, was insulting to the h, etc. Comeuppance? OW was verbally smacked down by the H publicly and then she fades into the distance, where she is of zero importance to the H who very rightly states that the OW deserved no space in his mind or life.

Grovel well done, extended and the h was no doormat.

I loved it.
Hero and heroine are a weird pair, she’s a very sunny and open woman who is also a very successful hairdresser, while he’s an introvert lawyer.
She tries to get him out of his shell, but when she overhears him and a woman in his office she thinks he’s cheating on her and she breaks up with him.
No, he didn’t cheat and never did, but he was also very inconsiderate because he never tried to include her in his social life, which is not that great but anyway she thought at a certain point that he didn’t love and was ashamed of her.
For some part, I didn’t like him, because he really took her for granted, but on the other side, I liked him because he was surely very socially awkward and always felt like she wa too good for him.
The heroine is no doormat pushover.
She makes him work very hard for a second chance and is even a bit cruel to him, but in the end all is well.
She really loved him wholly and was very hurt that he didn’t show her the same consideration, so I can understand her bitter attitude and some unkind words she said to him.
It was her pain talking.
This is a debut book, I think, and a good one.
Safety good, both celibate and with no other during their separation even if the heroine has a couple of dates with a guy just to make the hero jealous, but nothing happens.
